CHECK-IN: Friendly and fast check-in. We were given a free bottled water upon check in (with points card). There was also free lemonade and cucumber mint water, coffee and tea in the lobby which was very nice. ROOM: We were given a room on the first floor (of 2 floors). The room was nice. A good size, clean, well-laid out. IN-ROOM EXTRAS: Clock/microwave/in-room coffee/mini fridge. One bad thing was that the alarm clock had been set to go off at midnight and it started beeping and woke me up. POOL:There was an indoor pool & hot tub which was really nice. TUB:The bathtub in our room was almost not useable as it filled SO SLOWLY and would not hold water. BED: 4 pillows per bed; a nice quiet dark and comfy sleep. BREAKFAST: EXCELLENT! Clean, well maintained. Sausage/eggs/bagels/toast/sweet pastries/cold cereal/instant oatmeal/waffles/yogurt... VERY good! PRICE: on a Tuesday in Sept 2022 (including taxes) for 2 adults, 2 beds: about $130

While my experience with Best Western hotels is usually positive, this hotel location in Gaylord was a notable disappointment. One major problem I faced is a broken shower in my room (see photo of broken tub/shower), and when I raised this issue with management, it elicited only a quick apology. After a day of hiking, not having a shower was a major problem, and this seemed like a major omission given the hotel’s relatively steep summertime price. This experience seemed indicative of the broader hotel situation, as things did seem a bit run-down and dated. The only good thing I can share is that the standard complimentary breakfast offered was decent.

Truckers avoid ! Work third shift showed up at 6 in the morning. paid for 2 days. Front desk called me at noon, asking when I would be leaving so they could let cleaning know with the sign hanging on the door I thanked them for waking me up after working 3 fourteens in a row. I said I will let you know then they rang the phone off the hook saying I had to move my truck and I did not look at the chart on how to park... interesting. Then the maintenance guy and the cleaning lady pounded at the door like 4-year-olds before they called the police to have me tresspassed .Yes, unbelievable.See u in court Believe it.

My wife and 2 small children arrived on Monday 12/28/20 with a 2-night stay booked. Upon arrival, there is a sign posted on the entry door stating that all employees and guests are required to wear masks. The 2 woman at the front desk while checking in were without masks. Once given our room, we went to the second floor and saw the cleaning woman in the room across from ours without a mask. Within minutes of that, a maintenance employee was walking the halls without a mask. Now I fully understand that some individuals have medical conditions preventing them from wearing a mask. I respect that. However, the 13 different employees I saw must ALL have medical conditions because not once did I see an employee wearing a mask. This includes employees that looked to be in their mid 20’s through maybe mid 40’s. When I asked the front desk, I was given the explanation that “most of the employees have doctors notes and can’t wear masks”. Seems odd. Not to mention the countless, and I mean dozens upon dozens of guests without masks as well, none of which I witnessed being addressed for their lack of compliance.

On our second night, Tuesday 12/29/20 at around midnight, the fire alarm went off. We rushed our sleeping kids into our car and waited and after 10 minutes the said we could go back in. No fire department showed up. Only the maintenance man (unmasked of course). The explanation we received was “we aren’t sure why the alarm went off but we don’t smell smoke so you can come back in.” I’m sorry but a fire alarm doesn’t just go off for no reason. And after what we witnessed in the first 36 hours we realized the entire staff and operation of this place is completely incompetent.

Packed up our room and drove 3 hours south in a snow storm and felt safer than being in the care of the “Best Western”.

I would not recommend this place to...

Upon my recent two-night stay at this establishment, I found myself thoroughly disappointed with the overall experience. From the moment of arrival, issues began to arise, starting with a notably unkempt pool and hot tub area, which did not meet basic standards of cleanliness.Furthermore, the inconvenience of being locked out of my room on two separate occasions during nighttime hours was not only frustrating but also concerning for the lack of explanation provided by the front desk staff. Moreover, the recurring malfunction of my key card, necessitating multiple visits to the front desk for reactivation, greatly inconvenienced my stay. This persistent issue detracted from the otherwise anticipated comfort and ease of access to my accommodations.Additionally, the breakfast offerings were disappointingly basic, lacking variety and quality, failing to meet the expected standard of a satisfactory morning meal. Moreover, the design flaw of the bed's high backboards posed a risk of discomfort and potential injury, as the elevated corners posed a hazard to guests' heads if not approached with caution. In light of these shortcomings, I regret to express that I cannot in good faith recommend this establishment to fellow travelers. It is my sincere hope that these areas of concern are addressed promptly and effectively to ensure a more satisfactory experience for...

Not sure why this is listed as a 2 star but my husband and I LOVED it. I would give it a 4.5 due to hot tub being out of order and nothing saying that until next day. I had chose this specifically for the hot tub to relax. But the front desk girl had not been told it was out of order. We were at dinner when she tried to contact us. Later when I noticed it, she upgraded us, for free, to a jacuzzi room. OMG it was heaven. Big enough for both my husband and myself. We were in there for like an hour. I have fibromyalgia but that jacuzzi tub relaxed my muscles very good. We also utilized the excersize room for about 30 minutes and that was clean and easy to use also. Both rooms had soft clean beds, were nice and clean, great breakfast (for him I was having surgery next day). There is a gas station next door that we heard maybe a few times during the evening when trucks fueled up but nothing major. My only 'complaints' were minor. We could not adjust the heat on the wall unit but went to the one under the window. Plus the curtains billowed up when the fan was blowing. (I fixed it by putting the suitcase holder against it.) Also no vent fans in the bathroom. The downstairs had a little snack shelf where you could buy them. The lobby was nice and decorated for Christmas. We may drive over again just for that little get-away...
