I came to Glenwood to celebrate my 10 year wedding anniversary and I guess we chose the wrong place to stay because the staff here, especially the night staff, was RUDE! We checked in around 8PM and only stopped by the room to drop stuff off so we can swim in the springs before closing. We hadn't inspected the room or anything until we got back after 10pm. When we finally got into the room for the night, we found out the light in between the beds was faulty -- sparks flew the moment we turned it on. NOT SAFE, right? ...So we go talk to the lady at the desk. Not only was she rude the entire time but she wouldn't answer any of our questions. They were sold out so we couldn't move rooms, no big deal, we thought...we could just unplug the lamp for the night and get it checked on in the morning...but since we brought up our concern, the lady said the room was unfit for living so she refused to let us back into the room. Think about that for a second...I have a 2 year old who was literally asking me to go to bed before we even got there and now we aren't allowed in our room??? So we beg her to stay but she ends up calling the COPS on us and we are ESCORTED off the property. Before leaving, we asked for help finding a new place to stay. She told me La Quinta was $109 a night and she even called to see if they had a room, but when we arrived at the new hotel, we found out it was actually $199 a night and that was too high, so I spent another HOUR calling around until I found a place to go. SHE LIED ABOUT THE PRICE. My poor baby didn't get to bed until 4AM and we ended up leaving town the next day and ended our vacation early because of this whole mess. Plus, the police FOLLOWED us to La Quinta "just in case". NEVER AGAIN. Watch out for this lady, she told me she worked there for 20 years and she couldn't even tell me her policies. It was so upsetting also because I am also a night auditor at a hotel where I live and I would NEVER treat ANYONE like she treated us. Shame on her. Never again, and I'm telling everyone I know to stay away from this place. It looked great, had 2 pools and a hot tub AND a breakfast but we were unable to enjoy any of that. WORST HOTEL EVER. Stay...
Read moreIf you are traveling with a bike, DO NOT BOOK HERE. I had two triathlon bikes with me. When I went to check in, I saw the sign that said no bikes in rooms. I told the girl behind the counter that we would have our bikes in our rooms with us. She explained to me that we could not have the bikes in our rooms. She then explained to me that they have a storage area where we could put our bikes for the night. I asked her who had access to this storage area. I was informed, everyone. I told her once again that I would not do that, and I am not comfortable with that. I asked her what was stopping someone from taking the bikes. She said we could lock them up with our own bike locks. I informed her that, because I was planning on bringing my bike in my room. I did not bring a bike lock. It was suggested that I go buy one at Walmart. She then explained to me that if I took them in the room with us it would cost us $150 per bike. I explained to her that they were not dirt bikes and that they were very clean bikes. She offered to cancel our reservation at no cost. I asked her if she could give me 5 minutes to look on Hotels.com to see if I could get another hotel. She informed me that she could not. She had to cancel it right then or there would be a fee (seems ridicules). I then asked her if she would at least wait for my partner so I could speak with them about the dilemma. She did and we decided to go look at the storage area. It was a room without doors anyone walking the grounds could walk into it. My partner and I decided to go get locks. When I went in to tell the counter girl this. I also informed her that I was going to write a negative review. She then told me she had decided to cancel our reservations. When I went to contact Hotels.com about this debacle, I was told by them that the hotel was charging us even though they cancelled on us. Not sure what that place has against bikes, when I asked, I was just told it is their policy. I informed the counter girls that they may want to inform people when they book since Colorado is a...
Read moreWe stayed in the lower level cabin in June. It was Grandma and Grandpa, Dad and Mom, and 3 kids ages 15, 7, 6. We were there for 7 nights and had ample room for everyone and everything we brought! The cabin includes a nice laundry room with coin operated machines, good sized full kitchen, then a seperate dining room with a table for 6, big living area with a couch, and 3 chairs, TV, fireplace. 4 bedrooms: 1 large one with queen bed, sitting area, fireplace, no TV. 1 bedroom has twin bed, no TV. 1 bedroom has queen bed and a vanity/sink. 1 bedroom has 2 double beds and a TV. 1 full bathroom with tub/shower. It had a lot of built in shelving in the dining room which was great to set out all our snacks, swim stuff, medicine cabinet type items, etc. It has a deck off the living room on the Grand Ave. side, with a beautiful view. Out the back of the cabin was a courtyard with covered grilling area. It was all kept very clean. The landscaping is excellent. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were wonderful. The indoor pool room with hot tub, sauna and restroom was always very clean and inviting. Walking distance to diners, fast food or restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, liquor stores, and the park. We were busy with all the Glenwood Springs activities but when we were at the cabin relaxing, we really appreciated such a comfortable place that was very homey to stay in! The upstairs of the cabin is also another family unit available and when occupied, you can hear them walking around but it was not bothersome. Highly recommend if you want that cabin feel, but want to be in the city with all the...
