Went in on a busy Sunday, knew it might be a long wait but not an entire hour after we were seated. I used to be a server so I totally understand you can’t predict when you’re going to be slammed, but I would have done a couple things differently—during the hour long wait no one came by our table for a quick check in to let us know it was taking much longer than expected, and we were on a schedule to get back on the road for our long ride home to Denver. We had our 8 yr old little one with us who was hungry and having a fit—we could have at least had some fries or something for him to munch on brought over during the long wait. We had another couple with us who needed to pay separately, and this seemed to be a hassle as we were told it’s their policy they don’t split checks, so either we would have to pay the other couple with us for our portion or vice versa. Luckily a different staff member was able to finally figure out how to let us pay separately, but it was a long checkout process just to pay for our food so we could finally hit the road. One of the staff did offer a $15 gift card to use on our next visit (but who knows when that would be as we live three hours away and can’t afford to take these kind of trips often, this was a special occasion). I would’ve been happier with $5 off our ticket then and there, so not sure why they didn’t offer to just comp our sodas or something to make things right in the moment. This was also our little one’s birthday meal, so it was a bit disappointing that a few small things could’ve been done differently to make for a better experience. Food was pretty good overall and staff was polite, I think they were doing the best they knew how, but doubt we’ll be back if we’re ever out this way again. Probably best to visit here during...
Read moreA group of us went to this restaurant to get shakes and a few food items. The waitress greeted us and was very friendly and polite. She seated us and got are drink order immediately. They were short staffed and she seem completely overwhelmed. We keep reassuring she was doing great and not to worry since she was making such a big order alone. We sat up at the bar and we had the unfortunate experience of listening/watching the cook. Be little and talk down to every single female staff. It was completely disgusting and unexpected able. I am not even trying to exaggerate it was like we were on candid camera on how awful this so called man was talking to young woman. As a mother I was fuming mad and really wanted to go off. Instead I got the owners number and gave him a call the next day. His response was I appreciate the call but he is the only one that wants to work and it’s hard to find help. As a mother I think this is honestly disheartening that you rather have a narcissistic employee be little young ladies/women then stand up for what it is right. How about you cook and run your businesses then allow such behavior short staffed or not it’s not always bout profit.
PS. We had a few friends walk in a little after us and they were told if you’re going to order food forget about it. The cook is in a bad mood and he’s not gonna...
Read moreClassic diner vibes in all the right ways. Great prices considering our current economy. Great menu options which even surprised me as I have a taste for very exotic food menu items. They had all the classic typical rockstar menu items from burgers to chicken fried steak, of course biscuits and gravy (breakfast only) and their daily special was meatloaf (huge fan of some good meatloaf) they actually had multiple menu items I wanted to try but I couldn't pick anything else after noticing the liver and onions! Absolutely delicious! My favorite food is not American diner food but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal especially for the price I paid and I know what I was getting into going into a diner. Well actually I didn't because as I mentioned I left pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed my meal. The blueberry shake made with real blueberries was phenomenal. I want one right now! My companion is a self proclaimed connoisseur of fish and chips and that's what she ordered which for her did not disappoint. I believe she repeated even the next day and a few days later how good her fish and chips were. Our server was very busy as it was probably between shifts but her quirky attitude was very welcoming. For a classic diner experience 19th Street Diner hit a home run...
