While the hotel appears to be relatively new and most of the staff is friendly, there are still many issues to work out.
I'll start with the positive things: Comfortable beds, cold A/C, delicious breakfast, modern decor and furnishings, two very friendly gentlemen who work the front desk, and a very enthusiastic bartender. Unfortunately that's about all the positive things I can say about this establishment.
Now the negatives: I stayed in the same room on two separate trips a week apart. The first trip, there were dirty towels and a used washcloth in the shower, as well as a half used bottle of lotion on the counter. A week later the same half used bottle of lotion was still there, which leads me to believe that the combination housekeeper/breakfast cook should stick to cooking breakfast and leave the cleaning to someone else. I don't even want to think about what other corners were cut when my room was "cleaned".
During both trips, my coworker had another guest attempt to enter his room after he had already checked in. I have no idea how the computer system could allow keys to be issued for the same room to two different guests.
The pantry is woefully under-stocked and the prices are not posted and seem to be made up on the spot by whoever is working the front desk. I never once saw self-serve coffee out for guests, which I am used to seeing at all other IHG properties. The POS system at the bar/restaurant also has inconsistent pricing and I was nearly charged and extra $9.00 for sides that were supposed to be included in the price of my entrée. Beer prices were reasonable, but $10 for a shot of Jameson is absolutely insane.
The front desk manager was very professional and friendly during every interaction, as was another Jamaican gentleman. With every other interaction with someone working the front desk, I felt like I was inconveniencing them by buying a bottle of soda.
On my day of departure, I expressed some of my concerns to the front desk manager (FDM) after I had breakfast, and by the time I had checked out he had obviously relayed my concerns to the assistant GM (AGM). The AGM and housekeeper (HK) apparently did not appreciate his feedback. The HK was calling the FDM a liar and saying that he was always trying to get her in trouble, and the AGM was telling the FDM that housekeeping was not any of his concern. It was a wildly unprofessional situation which should have been discussed out of earshot of the guests of the hotel. Like another reviewer mentioned, it seems that the AGM stays at the property, as every time I saw him, he was dressed in street clothes (boots, t-shirt, and jeans). Or maybe he just doesn't want to dress the part for the role he has.
Overall it wasn't a horrible hotel experience, but it definitely didn't even come close to meeting my expectations of a typical IHG experience. I understand that things must be tough to run a hotel after a year of very low occupancy, but management better make make some changes fast or this hotel will quickly become one of the worst rated IHG...
Read moreI’m posting this when hurricane Helene happened so that is an important factor: I was called into work at 5:30 am so I loaded up my two kids and braced the storm. Not even 5 minutes into the drive I realized how dangerous it was and turned around..by that time trees were down and there was no way home. I was stuck during the worst part of the storm with two small children and no where to go. All day I was calling hotels trying to find one with A: power and B: vacancy. I called this hotel and was told there was power and vacancy. I had to book two rooms because my sister in law had a tree fall on her house so she came with me. We were just trying to find a safe place to go with our children. I was rushed to book the room because the rooms were “selling out fast” and was told I would be charged $400 for both rooms. I didn’t have that much but what was I to do with now 4 children and 3 adults. I book the hotel and upon my arrival they do not have power. I ask before paying about the power and the front desk lady assured me the power would be on soon. (I am aware this is in the middle of a hurricane storm and they can not control how quickly it turns on). I was understanding and decided to book because again, I have literally no where else to go. We are told to use the emergency stairs because the door was broke. The door is on the outside of the hotel propped open for literally anyone to be able to walk in. There was no security in place to ensure our littles were safe. We are loaded down with our belongings and small children in our arms as she walks us to the doors. We begin the journey up four flights of stairs and she shuts the door causing the whole staircase to get pitch black. We now have our hands full, toddlers crying and scared and frantically trying to get to our phones for a flashlight. She gave us no warning before shutting the door. We finally make it to our rooms and it’s hot and sticky in there. We expected this but also was unprepared for it. We tried to wait it out but with 4 young children in a hot room, no cell service, no food..we finally give up and decide this is not going to work for us. We go to the front desk and explain the situation and that we can not stay and they say they can only do a partial refund because we were in the room. In a normal circumstance I would completely understand but we didn’t even have hot water! No electricity, no ac, no WiFi, no hot water…we didn’t use ANY amenities, not even the dang fridge. We sat in a hot room for a couple of hours with some kids. They were not understanding and didn’t seem to want to help at all. They kept giving us the run around and said they would “call us”. It was terrible. We already faced a scary morning with the storm and being stuck in the car during the worst of it and then we received no compassion, no understanding from the crew. It truly was an awful experience. I will NEVER go back, even if their...
Read moreThis probably has to be one of the worst stays I have ever had, which says a lot. I am beyond disappointed with the experience that I have had here. Not only did the elevators smell of molly, there are sketchy people that hang around the front of the hotel, and if you’re looking for parking in the lot, know that you will have to park a good distance from the entrance. The rooms were not bad, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that upon getting there I was rudely greeted by the front desk attendant, who claimed he couldn’t find my reservation, just for him to have overlooked it twice. Then claimed I had to pay 50$ without telling me why, until I found out later that it was a deposit on the room just in case any incidents happened, which I confirmed would be returned to me 3-5 business days after I checked out. After staying, and making sure the room was decent before leaving, I asked once again when the deposit would be returned. They this time said 5 days. I allowed a little bit of days to pass before calling there, they then said it would be 7-10 business days. I allowed a couple of more days to pass, then called there again, it changed to the refund had never been processed and they have to force it through, after stating that it had already been processed and to wait a few more days. After continuing to be told that a manager would call, they never did and I had to again call there myself. Long story short I ended up disputing the charges after have been lied to the multiple times i’ve called there. This is probably the absolute worst hotel on Woodruff road, with terrible employees and an even more terrible General Manager. They are not in the least bit helpful. Please chose to stay...
