This used to be our favorite place for sushi in Greenville. The food quality is incredibly high for an all you can eat place, I can still say that.
However, the service has gone from mediocre to literally one of the worst table service restaurants in Greenville. Even though they are fully staffed, there appears to be absolutely no organization or system of any kind. Sushi chefs stand behind the counter cranking out orders, while wait staff take orders on tablets table side - you would think this would be a coordinated system.
Instead, orders pile up on the counter while the obviously untrained staff look confused at what is what and try to guess what their orders should be. We had multiple wrong items brought to our table, by multiple servers. Some items arrived ice cold - items that should have been cooked, I mean.
The absolute worst part is the delay - the idea is you order in rounds, so as one batch of food comes, you go ahead and place an order for the next round. This way, as you finish one round the next one arrives.
This system is obviously beyond the capacity of the staff to deliver. Orders for the same table come out at wildly different times - parts of my third round came out while my dinner partner was still waiting on their first. None of our orders came out correctly or complete, the server had literally no idea what items were. We had to help her find menu items on her tablet, only to have her not bring them.
Meanwhile, parties stacked 5 deep at the door - on a Tuesday night while the restaurant was largely empty. With 4 servers standing by the door, apparently unable or too incompetent to seat any of them. All seating was handled by one person literally running around the restaurant, who was also trying to correct the chaos of the jumbled orders - I assume this was the manager, but he was too busy trying to bring us food we didn't order to ask.
We were told they had a very large party that was throwing them off - yet there were at least 5 servers we counted on shift when we came in, again with the restaurant largely empty.
The restaurant cleanliness has degraded - bathrooms were a mess and smelled horribly of unflushed toilets. Considering the cleanliness and ice cold food coming from the kitchen, I fear food safety may become a concern.
We certainly won't be coming back, and will be making sure every sushi lover we know is aware. If you are looking for a wonderful sushi experience in Greenville, I cannot recommend Purple Sushi Bistro highly enough in Greenville's West...
Read moreExperience started ok, but ultimately ended up unsatisfied and angry. For context, we had a group of 11 people. For large groups they require that everyone either get their A La Carte or All You Can Eat option, with the All You Can Eat being almost $30. I can understand doing this to simplify the ordering process, especially since they will charge you extra if you share your food with someone who does not choose the All You Can Eat option. This immediately made the experience much more expensive than many of us were expecting, and we were not informed of this when making the reservation. The service throughout was decent at best. Server really only stops by to refill drinks and take orders, while others bring out the food. There were multiple times where items we ordered did not come out at all, even after asking about them again. There were also times when random food was brought to the table that we did not order. This can be very annoying since they will charge you extra if you waste food. The food itself is ok. The chicken in the chicken fried rice was absolutely disgusting. Once we got our bills we first noticed that many were wrong, with the wrong drinks on them that caused later confusion and problems, and also that we were all charged an 18% automatic gratuity. This is what really ruined the experience. There was not a single time we were informed of this, not while making the reservation and not after we sat down and started ordering. The only place where this was stated was on a single sheet that is handed out with the menus that is very easy to overlook, especially in such a large group where we were given traditional menus and all you can eat menus. The automatic gratuity pushed my bill that would have been around $52 up to $80. That’s for two people getting the All You Can Eat option with two drinks. As I mentioned earlier there was more frustration with the bills due to many of them being wrong, resulting in us not being sure who’s bill was who’s and thinking that we had an extra bill we weren’t supposed to have. We addressed this with our server who recounted the bills and told us we had the correct amount, catching an attitude with us saying “explain that math to me.” This only annoyed us more than we already were. We ultimately left very annoyed and dissatisfied. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone coming with a large group since they are not at all clear about what having a large group entails. We will not...
Read moreW place man. Gotta call it Wushi Kingdom. They don't limit how much you can order in a good and the sushi is actually pretty good. They don't shirk out on nothing for it. Nice thing is they have all sorts of sports on the TVs here so you'll have some eye distraction if you suck at being a person sometimes.
If you like soy sauce with ya shiz nit, use the low sodium one so you don't die of sodium overdose. Either way, food stuff.
In general, all the appetizers are great. They do those really well, besides the aged tofu. My favorite is the spring rolls, but I am basic like that. Spring roll Fried calamari = Gyoza Takoyaki Everything else Aged Tofu
Sashimi is popping. I'd get those if you're lactose intolerant or prefer simpler and lighter foods. Eel sashimi goated. Scallop is a mid-way second. If you haven't had bean curd, it's made from red beans. Don't let the word bean throw ya off, it's sweet and savory. Eel Scallop Smoked Salmon Bean Curd Everything else
The California rolls are actually appropriately-sized, so don't get them thinking it'll be something small.
For their special rolls, monster roll is the big favorite for the fried sushi lovers and rainbow rolls were the favorite for light sushi lovers. Crazy Dragon is a big dub but salmon lover don't slouch either.
For their teriyaki, nothing really stood out. It wasn't it for sure. Best would probably be the chicken.
For the hibachi, again, it was kinda weak. Best was the shrimp
Yakitori comes with too much sauce. No go for me.
Crabmeat tempura is the best one overall. Imagine eating a fried cheese stick and that was kinda the experience. Followed by shrimp tempura. Not a fan of their katsu, it was pretty dry.
Their fried rice that we got was pretty eggy and because of that, it was pretty wet. It was like the fried rice you cook if you don't use day old rice. I don't know if this is a common occurrence, but I turned me off enough that I didn't wanna find out. Oh yeah, none of the above stuff you order comes with rice, which is realllllly nice of them.
The udon was meh. Might actually prefer the rice over it if I'm in a eggy mood.
The ice cream was great, again, I suggest red bean. Really can't be disappointed with any of the deserts. The fried cheesecake is a slice of cheesecake with fried...
