In a world where culinary excellence is so often relegated to mere mechanized efficiency, where the artistry of nourishment is sacrificed at the altar of expedience, one is occasionally graced with an establishment that defies the trend—one that, with unwavering commitment, elevates the humble act of dining into a veritable symphony of flavors and refinement. Such is the triumph of Hokkaido Ramen House in Greenville, South Carolina. Our gastronomic adventure commenced with the spicy salmon roll—a delicate yet assertive marvel of balance, wherein the luxuriant richness of fresh salmon coalesced seamlessly with the invigorating bite of spice. It was a prelude most befitting of what followed: the tantanmen ramen bowl, its broth a deep and resonant declaration of culinary expertise, its spice imbued with that precise modulation which excites but never overwhelms. The spicy ramen bowl, an audacious but expertly calibrated creation, delivered a similar triumph of flavor, ensuring that the palate was engaged yet never assailed. And finally, the tonkotsu shoyu ramen bowl, a masterpiece of textural and savory depth, stood as testament to the establishment’s virtuosity in the timeless craft of ramen preparation. Beyond the splendid fare, one must commend the establishment’s ambient considerations. Though occupied by the hum of the Saturday lunch crowd, the space remained remarkably conducive to conversation—never descending into that cacophony so regrettably prevalent in lesser institutions. The attentions of our server, the estimable Alex, were of the highest order: affable, witty, and possessed of an intuitive understanding of precisely when engagement was desired and when restraint was preferred. It is with unreserved enthusiasm that we anticipate our return, confident that the experience will once again affirm the undeniable truth—that Hokkaido Ramen House is not merely a place to dine, but a sanctuary for those who appreciate the...
Read moreOk, so I gave this place a try today since I saw this advertisement on FB. It was on my way home from an appointment in Greenville. It was a Grand Openning.
I got the Spicey Beef Ramen, the Kobe Beef, and the Crabby Crab sushi. The Spicey Ramen was good and glad they use real ramen and not instant. The Ramen however tasted even better when I combined it with the Kobe Beef appetizer (which was also good on it's own). I also really like the Craby Crab Sushi. The fish eggs on it is to my liking and taste. 🤌
The environment is also good. Great night life vibe. I think the menu design is great. Whoever put it together did a great job and really put some time and work into it. Since I have a graphic design background, I really appreciate the aestheic of everything in this restaurant. The servers were also kind. For those who enjoy drinking, I'm not a drinker, but I overheard them talking about how they are going to start doing "Happy Hour" next week. A good place to stop by to relax after work?
In addition to their beverages, I however do think it would be nice if we're to also serve other beverages than Coke products. I mean beverages like home made lemonade with fuits in it, maybr fresh squeeze fruit juice, non achololic exotic drinks, smoothie, or Kombucha (without the weird taste like Koe or something). Maybe they will start serving these in the future?
All and all, I highly...
Read moreThis was an ABSOLUTELY delicious bowl of Tantanmen!
The amuse bouche was the perfect little fresh sushi to whet my appetite and the ramen was HEAVENLY ..The ginger notes sang above the rich sesame flavor and was like a bowl of your mother's soup for the soul. The pork was fall apart tender and I could have scarfed down several velvety eggs, bok choy was the perfect green to pair with the noodles.
Value for the money is excellent as I the portion was huge, I was sated, and even took half home for another meal.
The service was lovely and the atmosphere was fun. I sat at the sushi bar and watched the creations go out which always delights me.
