I’ve been going to Carolina ale house for a long time. I’m usually a regular at the main st Greenville location but have just started attending the woodruff road location because the bartender there is the best. I’ve never had an issue there before however tonight I took my brother there for his 21st birthday and we ordered food and his came out fine but I ordered the pretzels. Such a simple thing. They took awhile to come out the first time which sure sometimes baking takes a bit but they came out BURNT. Erica, my bartender, acknowledged the fact that they looked burnt but asked me to taste them just to make sure. I tried them and they tasted charred. I reluctantly sent them back (Erica had been so sweet and I felt so bad since it wasn’t her fault) and about 20 minutes later my second order came out. They weren’t as burnt as the first ones but they were still definitely toasty. I noticed that a manager was watching all the food that came out of the kitchen and asked to speak with that manager. The manager blamed the distributor and temperature of the oven but it was weird to me that she let my food come out burnt TWICE. It seemed like she was just hoping I wouldn’t notice my food was burnt and wasn’t focused on customer satisfaction. She offered to remove them from the bill (which is the bare minimum) and didn’t offer anything else. Erica came by and profusely apologized and was an absolute doll about the entire situation and is the only reason I would consider returning.

Alright, this is my third time here and they are consistently good! Today my wife and I had the fish and chips. She had the fries and coleslaw, and I switched out the fries for the steamed veggies. We sat outside in their very large covered patio, so the bartender was our waiter, which is risky since we are so far from the kitchen and they have to focus on bar customers also. Didn't matter, he was on it, and the food came out fresh and hot (we were early-bird lunchers at 11:30 on a Friday, so not real busy). The fish was awesome! Three pieces of piping hot fish (wife couldn't finish, so I scored extra - yum!), cold coleslaw, and hot veggies (or fries). Matched with a couple of beers which was a perfect pair; if the bartender spoke with an Irish accent I would think I was in a pub in Ireland. I can dream, can't I? 🤣 One suggestion: I know the younger crowd likes cheap beers and IPA's, but those of us with a better appreciation for deeper flavored craft beers would like to see some more porters and stouts, please? So many taps, so few real beers. 😜 Anyway, very satisfied and will continue to come here every time we go to Trader Joe's across the street. Good job!

Absolutely unacceptable experience at Carolina Ale House. Ordered a burger, took a few bites, and quickly realized something was off. The middle was completely raw, but I second-guessed myself at first because the edges looked a little brown. Once I realized I was basically eating uncooked meat, I lost my appetite entirely. Didn’t send it back because, frankly, I was too grossed out. When the bartender asked if I wanted to box it up and take it home, I was stunned. Who in their right mind would want to take home a raw burger? Then came the real kicker—when the bill came, they tried to charge me full price. I refused, obviously, and the manager stepped in… only to offer me a whopping $2 off because I had taken “almost half” of the burger. That’s right, $2 off for serving me raw meat. Horrible food safety, even worse customer service. I won’t be back.

Tonight was my first time at Carolina Ale house. We walked in and were seated fairly quickly. Our server was Edward and he took our drink and appetizer order quick. Everything was great until our entrees arrived. When Edward served us our entrees he walked away very quickly not leaving much room for me to let him know if I needed anything. My entree (the 28 day aged ribeye medium) was supposed to come with grilled mushrooms and I also wanted ranch to go with my potatoes. I was waiting to eat my steak until I got the mushrooms because the mushrooms were supposed to go on the steak. I waited for forever for him to come back to the table to ask if we needed anything and I feel it’s rude to wave someone down across a restaurant. I tried getting his attention when he was passing by a few times, but he seemed in a hurry everywhere he went and not really paying attention to anything, but the task at hand. When he finally did ask if we needed anything my boyfriend was finished eating, just to kind of give you an idea of how long it took for him to actually approach the table again. When he did approach the table I let him know I’d like ranch and the grilled mushrooms. He returned with both items quickly. When I got the mushrooms I was finally able to cut into the steak and the steak was rare, I asked for medium. I had to wait again for him to approach the table so I could get the steak corrected. When it came back the steak was well done. Making it inedible for me (both times). At this point I was not waiting for him again to approach. I had lost all appetite leaving my steak mushrooms and potatoes all not eaten. Tonight I paid $25.99 for a side of broccoli. Truly disappointed to the point I actually teared up because I’m really not that customer. I felt terrible for sending my food back, but also feel like I shouldn’t have been made to pay for all of it since I only ate 1/4 of the meal. Will not be returning.

To top it off from where I was sitting I could see in the kitchen, one of the cooks in the back was on his phone with his gloves on. That’s super unsanitary not to mention the same cook was eating with his gloves on as well.

Based on all of the other reviews I wish I would’ve had Will as a server. If you’re still here. Thanks for coming to...

Today was our first time eating here, and I think our last time! The young man that sat us, was great! He was very nice, spoke kindly, and said that we had picked the best place to eat. I definitely think different now! Our waitress then came and greeted us, and asked what we would like to drink, and it was simple, water and sweet tea, but never asked if we'd like to start off with an appetizer. We had to ask/tell her that we wanted the cheese curds. She brought drinks out pretty fast, and even the appetizer came out fairly fast, but the first bite we took, all you could taste was grease. They were not drained long enough! Then we placed our order, which was the grouper nuggets and smasherburger with a side salad. We chatted while waiting for our food, and during that time I drank all my tea and then it sat there empty for the longest time! Our waitress, the girl with the long braids walked by our table multiple times, and even sat down for a lil bit to get on her phone, and even when more people came in and she went to them, passing by us going to them and walking away from them to fix their drinks, she never acknowledged my cup empty, sitting on the edge of the table. She never once checked on us, or brought the salad my husband had ordered, that you would usually get before your food anywhere else. After 20 or so mins, she finally brought the salad out, and I asked if I could get more sweet tea, and she said yes ma'am, but then disappeared again for about 8 mins. Then our food was finally brought out to us, and when she asked if there was anything else we needed, it took my husband a bit snippy saying her tea. She finally went and fixed my tea, but stopped at another table to check on them before bringing my tea, and she sat it down hard and left. We ate, and mine was good, but my husband's burger was suppose to be medium well, but was over done. He said Wendy's hamburgers have more taste to them , then their burgers. And the way they do the payment right infront of you, puts you on the spot when it comes to tipping that person that does not deserve a good tip. Customers deserve privacy when it comes to payment and tipping, not that person right there saying press...

We are currently a party of 8 having a couple drinks after eating inside the Juicy Crab next door. I am really unhappy with the customer service we received from Wally, the manager on duty. He sat us in a very small area, when there was an overly large space by the bar. I tried to be polite, when explaining to him our purpose of visiting their location tonight, and inquired about the more open space. He told me that they didn't have a server for that part of the restaurant, and he would put tables together to accommodate our 8 people party. Once we saw the area he put together, we quickly knew it wasn't suitable. I would have rather he said, we actually can't accommodate for your size party. I tried to ask again for other seating, but was denied further assistance. After feeling like we had no choice, we agreed to stay in the small (put together,) area. 1 hour later, we look down and another group of 14 people were sitting in the space we originally requested. I immediately asked for the Manger on duty to explain this aggravated confusion. I was then told, Wally had left, but had it been up to this Manger we would have been able to sit in that same area we requested.

Point: We were drinking, high paying customers. We were African American and we were pleasant. I really need someone from this organization to explain why the service given to another group of people, was not given to us. This type of cruelty and ignorance isn't going to continue. We deserve honor and respect just as anyone else. Please respond with the level of passion that we should have received...
