Everyone knows 1700 Degrees is an awesome restaurant, but I wanted to let people know that it is also a spectacular venue to hold a private affair! I recently held my son’s wedding rehearsal dinner (24 guests) in one of their private dining rooms. I will try to be brief, but there are not enough words to describe my wonderful experience! From the beginning, Najib helped me with all aspects of the event - which private room would accommodate my music video, the menu selection, where to have the cocktail hour, table placements. . . you name it! He was wonderful to work with thru the entire process. Nancy met me the morning of the dinner and helped me bring in my flowers, decorations, favors, etc. so that everything would be at the location when I came before the event to decorate. To my delight, when I got there to decorate, our servers for the night, Peggy and Heather, had the private room and the reserved cocktail area in the lobby already decorated! Centerpieces, candles, flowers, lighted garland, place cards, welcome board, favors displayed on a table. . . both areas looked gorgeous. They gave excellent service the entire night, with many guests remarking to me the next day how great the service was! Thanks again, Peggy and Heather, for everything! The guests were able to choose from a fish, chicken or meat entrée and everyone said their meal was delicious! Compliments to the chef! Who, by the way, made a gluten free version of the grouper entrée to accommodate the bride. Everyone involved with the restaurant and the Hilton went over and beyond to make my event so special. I will be forever grateful! Thanks to everyone! Georgia Liddell P.S. Another example of people bending over backwards for me, 30 minutes before the guests were to arrive, I was trying to do a trial run of my rehearsal dinner video and couldn’t get my computer to work with the TV. . . PANIC! Peggy went to get help and in 1 minute, 3 men where beside me, along with an IT person on the phone, and with everyone’s help, they were able to change the settings on my computer and fixed the problem in just a few minutes....

I want to start out saying that the steak was immaculate and our server was great and very welcoming. That said, there are a number of areas that could be improved.

First is the menu. The iPad for a menu is a weird move and it could work, but the interface is strange and visually a bit tacky. It's also strange that you're given a digital device as a menu, but still have to read your order to the server. Why not just print a menu? On top of that, the photos are also not exactly representative of the food you receive...

By that, I mean presentation. It was sorely lacking. If you're going to have pictures in a menu, the dish should come out looking like the pictures. Nothing that we received was plated in a way I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber.

On top of that, one of our sides, the sweet potatoes, came out totally undercooked and it was obvious. You couldn't get a fork into most of them. And, again with the presentation, they looked like they'd been simply dropped into the bowl.

And lastly, while the flavor was great, there were precisely three small pieces of lobster meat in our lobster and broccoli mac and cheese. And it also looked like it had just been plopped into the serving bowl. If the lobster is too expensive, raise the price. Don't skimp on the good stuff.

Again, the service was great and the steak was absolutely perfect in every way. I would definitely be willing to give them a second chance, but speaking from our lone experience, I can't give more than 3...

This is a tremendous restaurant that stands on its own with other great steakhouses of Philly, New York, and Chicago. Don't let the fact that it is on the ground floor of a hotel make you think it is a "Hotel Steakhouse". the electronic menus are the the only indication that they are not a 100 year old institution but if you really don't know what you want the electronic menus give you a great overview of the menu and the selection. Not that you need the menu because our server was easily one of the top 5 servers I have had anywhere in the world. He was informative without being pushy, enlightening without being dramatic, he was overly service oriented with out coming across as being "tip oriented" self serving. He mention that he had been a server for 29 years and that experience came through. The atmosphere was updated modern classic steakhouse, with wide boths, comfortable seats, large tables for all of the dishes place settings. The resterant is perfect for a business diner, as was my purpose or a romantic dinner for 2. The food... The food was the star of the shop. The steaks were unapologetically the star of the show. I have been here multiple times and had the halibut and the salmon in the past but I continue to be thrilled each time I get a steak. Mine was cooked perfect and the sides were all excellent. I would recommend this resterant to anyone who really wants to enjoy an...

The food was absolutely amazing and our server was wonderful. That said, everything took a really long time and our meals were not super complicated. The food was worth the wait and I am thankful that we had the time to wait. I had the 21 Day Dry Aged 14 oz NY Strip along with the 1700 Preparation (Whipped Potatoes, Root Vegetables, House Worcestershire - which is gluten free) I ordered my steak medium rare and it was done perfectly. And, proof that they are truly a steakhouse was the perfectly done steak at medium rare temperature without an attempt to talk me into cooking it more. Thank you. Whipped potatoes were amazing. Carrots, in my opinion were slightly underdone but were tasty. For dessert, I had Chocolate Marquise (Macerated Strawberries, House Granola, Basil) and it was absolutely to die for. So good. This was a little more than I typically spend for a meal but had a wonderful range of choices/prices. The meal here was as good as any truly fine steakhouse but my final check was less than I expected it to be. The steak prices when I visited ranged from $35 to $88 with the bulk of the steaks in the $40-55 range. Every ounce of the steak was tender and there was zero gristle. Worth the price. The higher end steaks ($80-88) were Wygu so that is also not a surpirising price.

From beginning to end my experience was a thumbs up experience. I attended a convention and was dining alone. The wonderful hostess suggested sitting at the bar, which was the best choice, because Andrew, the bartender, is what every restaurant needs in the way of an attentive, helpful, and personable guide to a wonderful dining experience. His suggestions to his customers and the care/attention he gives them is top notch. From my observations while eating, I can tell the restaurant staff are all high caliber. So it gets even better...the food was amazing...I started with a Caesar Salad that had me wanting more. I followed that up with an Angus 8oz filet (rare) with a chef's preparation of Wild Mushroom Ragou with a little Serrano Ham that was out of this world and complimented the filet very well. Everything is ala carte so you don't have to get anything else, but that didn't stop me from getting 2 sides and each side is enough for 2 people. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Asian Pear, Scallions, Walnuts and Five Spice and the Baby Bells with Shashitos and Cippolinis. A vegetarian could have a 5 star meal just on those sides alone. I ate everything and was extremely satisfied. If you are in Harrisburg and you want to have a great dining experience, then come to 1700 Degrees!

When I first sat in the bar area the bar tender David was engaged in another conversation with a guest. Ashley I believe asked if she could help me I proceeded to order a Moscow Mule. While waiting an older woman sat to my left and upon sitting down she was asked if she wanted anything to drink and offered a menu and water. She declined the menu but I spoke up and asked for a menu. I was thinking to myself why was I not offered a menu or water. Idk anyways….. a bit later another woman sat to my right and we had a phenomenal conversation. I felt that our conversation drew other people in including the wait staff who ended up paying me more attention. David was more attentive which lead me to order more food because the vibe suddenly changed as I felt more included. Thankfully I did stay as the restaurant was amazing. Crab soup and the Ribeye was cooked to perfection one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. The soup was a bit fancy lol but hit every note. ☺️ Thank you to Rose who sat to my right you made my night. UMPC is lucky to have a nurse like you you’re an amazing person…. I hope you wright your book and share your story with the world!🌎
