We stayed at the Hermann Crown Suites in the Worlds Fair suite Thursday May 22,2024 - May 24th, 2025. We paid over $400 for two nights that included early check in and late check out. We took the train from Lees Summit MO so we had no control over our arrival or departure. The suite consists of a kitchenette, bathroom, jacuzzi room two bedrooms and a closet in the kitchenette area. The days we stayed the jacuzzi had yellow caution tape blocking it off. So we were rented a jacuzzi room without the jacuzzi and it was under construction. Not the romantic anniversary room we were expecting. The bathroom sported the only useable mirror in the suite, there was a mirror with hooks for you wet towels in the jacuzzi area but again it was roped off with yellow caution tape. So if you want to put on your makeup while someone is in the bathroom bring your own mirror to set up in the kitchen table. Also we had to hang our wet very small thin bath towels over the shower rod. Yes the walk in shower had a curtain not a door. The lighting was good in the bathroom. The kitchenette had a sink, a half fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a dinette table with three chairs. They had coffee filters and Folgers coffee. There were 6 glasses 2 wine ,2 water, and 2 coffee. There was a dish cloth and towel but no dish soap to wash said glasses. We were here two days minimum maid service if you requested it so we just rinsed our coffee cups out. There was no way to scoop the coffee as no utensils were provided luckily we noticed this right off as I only can drink decaf so we walked to the dollar tree three blocks away. They had Folgers decaf coffee that was exactly like the coffee in the room. So we also bought utensils so we could scoop and measure the coffee. The breakfast in the morning does not offer decaf coffee nor does the bar downstairs. The breakfast was your standard hotel scrabbled eggs nothing special. One bedroom had a pull out couch a night stand with a lamp and a table with a tv and a dvd player under the table. The other bedroom had a king bed two nightstands but only one provided plug ins for your phone, a beverage cart?, and a table with a tv on it. This bedroom faces the road and has three bay like windows with fantastic black out curtains. The room was quiet except the cars going down the highway in the main bedroom. Hermann is not a late night party town so the noise quiets down pretty early. We did not stay Saturday night but I canāt imagine it gets too rowdy. There was no place to put your clothes in the rooms except in your suitcase on the floor. The closet in the kitchenette had three hangers one plastics and two old metal dry cleaning hangers. It also had a suitcase holder but it would have been tight to put it in the main bedroom. The king bed was comfy if you like a real soft bed. We did address the jacuzzi issue with the front desk and was told since we paid early before we checkin they could only give us a gift certificate with the difference we would have paid for a non jacuzzi room. So we took the $60 gift certificate and got a small pizza, a burger with fries and a vodka tonic one night while we were listening to the live music on the patio. While the live music was fantastic the crowd was very loud so unless you sit right in front of the stage you have to listen to it as people around you try to talk over it. While you eat your very overpriced bar food. The other thing we noticed is that the staff was not well versed in using that said gift certificate so when we ordered food it took a bit for them to figure out how to use the certificate and that also happened in the bar. The manager that gave us the certificate was not happy with person who did not tell her the jacuzzi was not done so they had that conversation in front of us. Also other staff outside smoking was complaining about either customers or management but you could tell they were not happy. The breakfast person was talking about how the breakfast was moving outside later in the month and again maybe it was just our perception but the staff just seemed a little off. We also paid for early check in and out but when we arrived we were not allowed to check in early they did not even ask our name. Later when we did check in she apologized that she could have let us check in earlier. The person training her blew it off and did not offer to give us the extra we paid to check in early back. We did not ask after the whole room under construction fiasco because we knew getting any money back was not an option because we paid early. Again not the stay we expected...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeing prior military family, I have traveled the world and stayed in many places. So when the chance to stay at Hermann Crowne Suites presented we decided to give it a go. The reviews looked great and the location was perfect, so why not!? We were in Hermann with friends for antique weekend and they had never visited the town so it seemed perfect. Once we arrived around 815pm, we went to check-in where there were several drunk patrons hanging out in the entryway and at reservations desk but no staff on site. There was a sign which said, āwe are a boutique hotel and may be elsewhere so please call this number ā¦ā I proceeded to call the number and the phone rang right where we were standing announcing my phone number on the caller ID. We waited another 10 minutes and still no one arrived. As you can imagine, we just worked a full day, drove several hours and just wanted to check in and eat! We walked around the property looking for someone who resembled an employee when I finally found a man who told me they were tending bar, were busy, and he would send someone up. Shortly after a very frazzled women comes up and just says ānameā. I proceeded to share our info and she tells me it will be 229.00 a night for the suite. This was not the rate originally quoted over the phone and we were told we would be given a 10% discount for AAA as well. I mentioned this to the employee who tells me it would only be an approx 7$ discount. Now I wasnāt a mathlete in school but 10% of 458.00 is not $7!! But we were exhausted and didnāt feel like questioning it so took the keys and made our ways to our āSuiteā Once we trekked ourselves up the narrow stairway, we opened the door to a very basic and dated room-not at all for which I would think was worthy of the $229.00 per night price tag. Because our experience with this room was so disappointing, I will just list all the shortcomings we noticed below after my commentary. The first night we arrived, we tried to find food but the grill attendant seemed burned out and not thrilled we were there so we opted not to purchase. That night we settled into bed but quickly realized we couldnt sleep as the outside flood lights were lighting the room so brightly we felt like we were under interrogation!! Since there were no curtains the shades provided little help in blocking the light. The bed was paper thin and lumpy, so investing in a $50 mattress topper would do the trick-esp. if you donāt choose to replace the mattress clearly after 20 years! Morning breakfast was subpar, although the breakfast area was quaint and clean. The breakfast attendant was not pleasant, very short with guests and had a nasty attitude. She was sighing and slamming around things while refilling food items. Not the type of personality I would choose for a hospitality position. Feedback on rooms: *paper thin and stained towels/hand towels and wash rags. *smelly comforter quilt(s) *filthy walls, stains and holes, off set pictures-looked as though someone just threw things up with no skill *cheap fixtures and decor which looked as though it had not updated since 1989. *carpeting which was older and frayed *hair in the shower *very smelly water which had a stench of sewage at some points. Because of this we were concerned about using it to brush teeth or drink. *friends television was so small in the winery room that they almost had to sit up near it to see it! *dvd players in the room?? Letās get more modernized folks. *housekeeping staff very loud and talking about other staff while cleaning the room next to ours. Not very professional and noisy. Someone may think Iām being over the top or way too picky but considering I am, what seems to be the demographic visitor-you may want to consider making some serious updates. These rooms were not worthy of the price you charged, although fairly clean is the only good feedback I can give. It was noisy, dated, and the employees were unfriendly. Overall I would not stay here again, nor visit this city. I hope others have a...

My wife and I took a short vacation to Hermann, Missouri in early March. I was drawn in to the town after reading reviews of this town and figuring it is worth a shot. Hermann boasts undeniable natural beauty, but our overall experience was marred by subpar accommodations and a general sense of emptiness. In other words, don't visit off season unless you don't mind the fact the town will be closed.
Natural Beauty Abounds (A+)
The drive through Illinois and past St. Louis reveals breathtaking scenery. There are endless green rolling hills and majestic trees stretching as far as the eye can see in Missouri. This region is undeniably stunning.
Hermann Crown Suites: A Letdown (D)
Our stay at the Hermann Crown Suites was a let down. While the hotel's age adds to its charm, it could benefit from better upkeep and maintenance. The hotel's occupancy seemed low, creating a sense of emptiness and abandonment. The staff, though not impolite, could have been more welcoming and attentive, especially after the check-in process. Additionally, the location of the rooms in a separate building could have been communicated more clearly, and assistance with luggage would have been appreciated. I had to carry the bags up a staircase. No problem, but if I was physically unable, that would have been a big problem.
A Ghost Town (C)
Hermann's reputation as a wine town was evident, but its potential was unrealized during our off-season visit. Shops were closed, and the streets felt deserted. The town's promise would likely be better fulfilled during peak tourist season. That is FACT!
Hermann Wurst Haus (D): This German restaurant did not meet expectations. The bratwurst was of inferior quality compared to other establishments, and the self-service model seemed overpriced. It is likely that this establishment relies heavily on tourist traffic and believes that its reputation alone can sustain its business. As always, personal preferences may vary, so it is recommended to try the restaurant and form your own opinion.
Hotel Breakfast (F): The free breakfast was terrible. They only had stale bagels, packaged oatmeal, and sometimes not even fresh coffee.
Wine: A Mixed Bag (C+)
The local wineries showcased young, unaged wines. While not bad, they lacked the complexity that time might have brought.
Would I Recommend Hermann?
Possibly. The area's beauty is undeniable, and the town may come alive during peak season. However, travelers should be aware of the potential for subpar service and amenities during the off-season.
The Verdict
Hermann, Missouri is a town of contrasts. While its picturesque landscapes attract many visitors, the quality of accommodations and services can be inconsistent. It is advisable for travelers to carefully consider the time of year they plan to visit and their expectations before making travel...
