Sharp Corner Tavern — Restaurant in Hermann

This will always be a place that comes to mind when someone says “dive bar”. We had a breakdown in Hermann and where looking for a meal and drink while waiting for a tow. The atmosphere sucks (unless you’re a bar fly). The music is way loud. The service is nonexistent unless you go to the bar. The food is quite inexpensive and it is decent. Not fantastic but it’s decent for bar food. The bartender looked at me like I was nuts when I asked if they had any beer other than Bud light or Coors. She ended up producing a bottle of lager from a local brewery although she couldn’t tell me if it was a lager or an ale or what it was called. It wasn’t very good but it was wet so I drank it. I would venture to say if you wanted alcohol beyond a jack and coke or fireball shots you would probably be met with the same solution. I’ve visited Herman several times in the past and have always enjoyed it, but this experience was completely different. The bartender (long hair, not sure of his name) seemed irritable from the moment we walked in. He screamed at one customer to leave, then yelled at another group of guests who had simply moved a table slightly closer to their friends. His outbursts were loud, aggressive, and confusing for everyone in the restaurant.

The atmosphere quickly turned hostile, and we decided not to spend any more money there—just like several other guests who left after witnessing the same behavior. As someone who works in the service industry, I can’t imagine ever treating guests in this manner.

This place is not bad. I had somewhat of a bad experience with whom i believe is the owner. My friend and i wanted to sit at the bar so we grabbed a couple of stools and moved them closer to where the tv was. Shortly after, this guy, who was dressed as a dishwasher/ cook moves the stools back and tells us we can't sit there because that area is reserved, or cleared so people can pay. There was no sing posted at all advising of that. The guy was very rude about it and did not apologize for his rudeness. The food is okay and not very expensive. I ordered a Philly cheese sandwich with curly fries. I got about 8 french fries and a really skimpy sandwich. The flavor was good but portions are not generous at...
