This place is one of the most magical places on earth. That’s not hyperbole - that’s facts. I grew up in Oregon, now living in New York - and I have been coming here with my family since I was a kid and my brothers were babies... we stayed in the same two rooms every year and have made so many memories right there in the strand.... .....we’ve spent Christmases at the Sea Sprite, my brother learned to swim there, we’ve had family reunions there. The Sea Sprite was also my grandmothers favorite place and when she passed away we came to the Sea Sprite to honor and remember her. This place can be seen in tons of different tv shoes and movies - but I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the Sea Sprite was the setting for the new Veronica Mars reboot! The rooms have been remodeled since the last time I stayed there, but I’ll be in LA for work next week and booked our usual room.... so I will come back and update with more photos. In the meantime, I can’t say “come to the Sea Sprite” with enough enthusiasm! *** UPDATE *** After staying at the Sea Sprite and experiencing the new remodel I have to say I am really torn. The rooms are beautiful, don’t get me wrong. Everything in-room has been renovated beyond recognition, and most of the property looks completely different as well. Theres a new eco-friendly vibe with energy saving features, and they removed the pool which was obviously in need of repair the last time I saw it. I will say that I miss the kitchenette feature - the new rooms are equipped with a microwave and a little coffee maker, but one of the things my family loved about this place was the full kitchenette and I have memories of us making family dinner and breakfast in our little home away from home. There is also a really obvious desire to shift from being a ‘motel’ to a ‘hotel’, again I suppose a choice that’s being made for the greater good of the business... but I’m just praying the iconic signage doesn’t get torn down. I think overall happy to see the place evolve as I’m sure business was not sustainable in its previous form, but there are some definite Sea Sprite equities that are missing from the new design. It used to be this sweet little gem of Hermosa, and it doesn’t feel meaningfully differentiated from the other “hotels” on the strand anymore.

So let me start by saying, the location is one of the few highlights of this place. It's nice to be so close to the beach, and the patio is quite peaceful. My problem begins with the rooms. The room me & my family were placed in had problems that I kept finding and finding as the days went on. For starters, the bed that I slept in had sheets with stains all over them (pictures attached). I also noticed how sandy the floors were, which is odd considering I had seen a housekeeper sweeping out OTHER rooms. I also found more stains on the towels we were provided, and a bunch of hair in the bottom of the shower. The biggest problem we faced was that we were not told that the room we were gonna buy would have a broken air conditioning unit, instead replaced by this EXTREMELY LOUD and marginally functional portable AC unit that required a window to be open to work, meaning we got to hear all the loud noise of people walking around and blasting their music outside while we were trying to sleep at night. Seriously, you could at least disclose something like this so we could have looked elsewhere or something.

We asked for a room with a screen door, she said yes and gave us a suite.( No screen door) She said we couldn't have the room before 3pm because it wasn't ready. So we came back at 3pm, By morning, we realized that the room was filthy, mold in the shower, black hair on the bathroom vanity (not mine), both of the mirrors I could write "clean me" on them they were so dirty, I ran my finger over several areas every time came back full of dust,(especially the lamps). The refrigerator was only 54 degrees and set at 37 degrees (broken), we had to throw out food in the morning. This hotel was the furthest thing from luxury. The only thing going for this hotel, is the location. The staff you don't believe, The house cleaning staff should be replaced or inspected by someone who could see.and cares.

I decided to book a room overnight so I wouldn't have to drive the 2 hr ride home after a long day at the beach. I am so glad I did..this hotel is so fantastic! The parking is limited, but I lucked out and found one right by our room (they do charge for parking, but it's worth it). Otherwise, there is a parking lot right next to the hotel that your parking fee covers. The hotel is right on the beach and right next to shopping and restaurants (my truck stayed parked during our entire stay!). The staff are all so nice and friendly, very helpful and accommodating. The hotel was recently renovated (and I heard they will be renovating other portions during the off season) and the rooms are absolutely beautiful and relaxing, and QUIET. Our room was a double queen and felt like a cottage apartment. No ocean view from our room, but not a problem since we spent all day at the beach anyway. It had a separate bedroom, a living room, dining area, and kitchenette, all very spacious and open. Large bathroom with double sinks and large walk-in shower. Everything was decorated tastefully and beautifully. They provide bathrobes and slippers to use during your stay that you can purchase. They also provide high quality toiletries by Beekman 1802...they smell wonderful and fresh and are very moisturizing (I've actually been using their products since they came out years ago). In addition to snacks and mini bar in the rooms, there's a well-stocked "mini market" in the lobby that carries whole bottles of wine, single serve cocktails, sodas, juices, energy drinks, waters. Plus Gelato and my daughter's obsession...Dippin Dots. You can borrow yoga mats, beach chairs, and towels as well (and I believe you can rent boogie boards and bikes?) This hotel has everything, and such a perfect location. For those who have kids, there's a swingset and lifeguard tower on the beach in front of the hotel, and bathrooms and outdoor showers to clean off the sand. There's also a pier to fish from and just get a nice view of the coast. My son lives close by, so he drove up for the day, and we spent the whole day at the beach, then cleaned up and went to one of the restaurants located not even a block away. There's bars, restaurants, ice cream shops, and coffee/bakery shops all within a short walk away (like 1-2 blocks distance). Perfect for those with kids and those who don't like to walk around too much! I wish we could have stayed a couple more nights, it was so relaxing and enjoyable. Next time, we will definitely...

Last minute, we were looking for a “staycation” around our area and we happen to stumble on this place at Travelocity. This was the worst hotel we’ve ever been. The room had a nice layout but it’s the dirtiest room we’ve ever stayed at. The towels in the room were nasty it looked like it was just folded after used by the previous customers. The floors were super dusty and the pillows smelled so bad. Funny part was, there’s a huge foot print on the ceiling we even took pictures of it because we can’t imagine how people were able to do that. The shower didn’t have a shower curtain and shower gel pump was empty. A/C wasn’t working and they explained why but the windows in the living room won’t even open. It gets really stuffy inside that we have to open the door for ventilation. We weren’t planning to stay overnight but it was too late and we had no choice for us to leave because there weren’t any hotels left to go to. When we laid on the beds, it was so itchy and there were tiny blood stains on them. We were scared to use the blankets on the bed so we just slept on top of it. We were supposed to stay there for 3 days but we decided to leave the next day as we can not tolerate the mess in our room. Horrible experience overall. We were so excited to stay with them because we were celebrating my birthday and that my auntie came all the way from SF, and the fact that it’s right in front of the beach. We spoke to the manager the night of and were very accommodating of our requests. She offered us a discount and complimentary parking for our stay but were surprised we were charged full price for the over night with a really horrible experience that ruined our staycation. Almost $500 a night is not worth the stay. We spoke to Marina the manager and asked about the charge. She mentioned that our room was already discounted and to check the receipt sent to my email then hanged up on us. The whole day we were waiting for the email until at night and still nothing. This feels humiliating, disrespectful, very insulting, simply stolen from, and also felt racially discriminated just because we’re Asian. Honestly? If the Nickelodeon Hotel in Orlando was still open, this hotel would probably tie it on the title of being the worst hotels to stay in. This place needs a huge amount of cleaning and sanitation. People with...

The Sea Sprite Beach Clubis a charming beachfront property located directly on The Strand on Hermosa Beach. It offers 34 upscale boutique rooms and suites with each offering coastal inspired, modern luxury. It offers the perfect blend of beachfront tranquillity, easy access to local attractions, and proximity to the vibrant heart of Hermosa Beach, as it's located within a short walk of Pier Plaza and Hermosa Avenue and its huge range of shops, restaurants and nightlife options. ||||We entered the room into a spacious bedroom which had 2 large queen beds fitted with luxurious bedding and offered a very comfortable nights sleep. There was a built in wardrobe with a safe supplied at no additional cost and a large dresser with a 57" TV above it. On the other side of the room there was a spacious en suite with a large vanity and a tub/shower combination, a hairdryer and toiletries were also supplied. Between the beds was a large opening into a 2nd room, this was a separate living room with a kitchenette, large dining table and a queen sized sofa bed. The kitchenette had a minibar, coffee maker, sink and microwave, the only thing missing for me here would have been some dishes and cutlery. From the living room was a private balcony which offered breath-taking glimpses of the Pacific Ocean. The suite itself was tastefully decorated with a modern coastal theme, featuring comfortable furnishings, and tasteful artwork. ||||The staff at the Sea Sprite Beach Club were very friendly and attentive. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and offered helpful advice on local attractions and dining options. We were advised that there was a box in the lobby where you could find items that you may need for the beach such as buckets and spades, which was very handy. The service throughout our stay was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction.||||Our three-night stay at the Sea Sprite Beach Club was an absolute delight. The combination of the stunning ocean views, the comfortable and stylish accommodations, and the exceptional service made for an unforgettable experience. The hotel is a great choice for anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway in Hermosa Beach and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting...
