It was our last day in Cali and we met up with family for brunch. A smaller group of 9 total. We originally wanted to brunch at Martha’s in Hermosa Beach which is a fave spot when we’re in town. Unfortunately, brunch time is super busy and Martha’s had a 1 hour wait. My sister-in-law mentioned Good Stuff Restaurant as another option and they only had a 30 minute wait for our group of 9 people. So we shifted over there and waited patiently.
We met them there and put our name on the list. They had an abundance of seating indoors and outdoors. Very spacious and great location next to Hermosa Beach and the boardwalk. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting an hour until they were able to seat us. They sat us inside and we didn’t get to sit together either. We put the kids at one table and we sat at the other table with the baby.
Our server Tadeo was nice and took good care of the kids table too. My in-laws ordered guava mimosas and my husband and I opted for just coffee. We are done drinking. Haha.
I ordered the “Good Stuff Style” Huevos Rancheros. It was just ok. It had good ingredients and I liked that it was a bit healthier with the shredded cabbage but this dish lacked flavor and it didn’t look anything like the website photo. I also didn’t get any avocados. I asked for hot sauce and it was fine, but hot sauce shouldn’t mask the flavor of food.
Husband got Teriyaki Steak Breakfast Bowl but as soon as we saw the plate, you could tell the steak was dry and overcooked. He said it was meh.
Aside from the cool ambiance and great location, Good Stuff wasn’t worth it. And definitely not worth waiting an hour. My husband also paid for brunch since it was his sister’s family and the bill was a whopping $225 for 4 adults and 4 kids. The baby doesn’t count. Granted there were a few mimosas flowing. Even so, it was pricey for everything.
Sorry Good Stuff but it wasn’t that good. With a name like that, you’d think they would...
Read moreGreat location with outstanding beach views of Hermosa but the food is just plain mediocre and the service is lacking in many ways. Of course plenty of reviews will say otherwise but that’s the lack of seasoning in the locals palates. Gave this place a try on 3 separate occasions. One on a busy Sunday morning and made reservation online via the Goog’s which is nice to have integration for busy restaurants with tons of traffic. Service is probably the biggest opportunity for this team. Always having to ask for coffee refills or missed items or condiments. Another attempt was on a Tuesday morning with little to no traffic and still the same inattentive service to my subtle shock. Final attempt was on a Friday early am. Again little to no traffic and no employee acknowledges folks standing by host stand/doorway to sit and eat. I’m sure they aren’t paid enough to care so I urge the owners to pay your people a true living wage if that’s the case and improve on the food quality. Maybe some new variations added to the menu. This place is just ok. If you have the patience this place can fulfill the hunger needs and that’s about it. Nothing exciting to share other than the views and being at the beach.
The owners very own defensive response to the service is all you need to read regarding their establishment. Again tried multiple times but this place has a reputation for lack of...
Read moreMy family and I wanted brunch at a dog friendly restaurant by the beach. And Good Stuff Restaurant popped up in my search.
Looking at other reviews, I was prepared to wait at least 30 minutes for a table, especially since we could only eat outside. Luckily, it didn't take longer than that. Because we looked at the menu while we were waiting, we were ready to order. Though, be sure to ask the waitress what the specials were, because they looked good too.
I ordered the carnitas breakfast tacos, that came with guacamole, rice, salsa, and beans. They were so delicious! I don't know how else to describe it - everything on that plate was good, down to the tortillas. I also ordered an Arnold Palmer, and it wasn't too sweet, which is how I like my drinks.
My dad ordered the loco moco. I swear he inhaled half of it the second it was plated. Needless to say, he enjoyed it. My mom and my sister enjoyed their respective dishes too, which were eggs florentine and enchiladas with eggs.
What I like about this restaurant is that they have many options on their menu - from those wanting healthier options to dietary restrictions. Anyone in your group will have options for their specific needs.
I didn't realize they had a dog menu at this location, so I would like to go back and order some for our...
