TL;DR: no clue how this place has 4.2 stars at the time of writing, it’s hard to sleep and shower, and it doesn’t really feel safe.
This place fails at being a hotel, what I consider a good hotel is somewhere that I can get a nice night of sleep and a shower, I don’t need anything else.
That being said, the heater/air conditioner was loud and occasionally made squealing sounds through the night to the point that at 1am I had to get up and turn it off because being cold made it easier to sleep then listing to that thing.
The window curtains leaked light, again making it hard to sleep.
The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows are the smallest ones I’ve ever used in a hotel, they look like decor pillows.
The shower had some of the worst controls I’ve ever used, turn the knob(s) wait 15 seconds, then something might happen. Then when you finally get the temperature right out of nowhere the water will get burning hot casing you to scramble to the back of the shower and reach through the burning water to adjust the knobs that are more of suggestions than controls. Oh and on top off all of this the vent for the shower drain doesn’t work so it just fills up with water and lets our little bubbles of air as you shower.
So now that I’ve told you how it fails at being a hotel by any definition let me explain the other problems, the parking lot is simply lit with high pressure sodium (which gives it that shady motel vibe), if you’re on the second floor you have to go up blue stairs, but the steps are un-equal in height. Couple that with the yellow light and it’s very easy to trip. Then you get to the room and the entire thing feels like the saying “a pig with lipstick” it’s a shady motel, with some new...
Read morePros: Clean, friendly person at check-in
Cons: WiFi non-existent and mold. It shows 2-3 bars for the guest internet, but I couldn’t even open Google (!) most of the time (except for brief moments during the hours I was at the property) and sites would take 10 minutes to load. It was impossible to make WiFi calls. Made worse by the fact that there’s almost no cell service, so I couldn’t tether either! I had to step out of the room to make basic phone calls in order to get enough signal.
The A/C unit appeared clean but smelled like mold, it was intense.
The front desk person did her best and tried to fix the WiFi and reset the router, but that didn’t help at all. This is a technical issue that requires some serious troubleshooting.
I had a conference call and needed internet, which was advertised as one of the amenities included. I was refused a refund, even though my travel agent tried several times.
My agent submitted another request after multiple attempts to restore the internet were unsuccessful. I was told someone would follow up with me in the morning yesterday. Of course I haven’t heard anything!
At $95 per night, I was expecting to be provided with basic amenities.
The hotel only had 2 rooms available to choose from despite the parking lot being almost empty, which leads me to believe not all of them are actually in shape to be rented.
Overall this place seems to be in a state of disarray and is completely understaffed.
If you need access to the internet, or cell phone signal, I highly recommend staying somewhere else!
Ended up moving down the road and paying twice for the night. Extremely...
Read moreWe stayed here one night on an extended trip through Arizona. It was extremely reasonable, which is perhaps the best thing going for them. But otherwise, we found it rather sad.||||Holbrook seems to be a depressed area and this stretch of road was part of the original Rt. 66. When we checked into our room, it wasn't quite what we expected. The beds and mattress were comfortable and the television worked fine. But the room was tired. The laminate flooring was coming loose. Furniture and paint looked old. It looked like someone poured a can of latex paint in the bottom of the bathtub and then left it there. When we took showers, the spigot turned totally around--you had to figure out how to get the water to shut off. The towels were small and thin and barely got around our bodies. But what was most annoying is that the WIFI signal in our room was spotty and mostly didn't work. We were the farthest room from the office, so that may have had something to do with it. I gave up on using my computer the night we stayed.||||I will say that the breakfast that we had was one of the better ones on our trip. They advertise real scrambled eggs! I guess that means most of those other hotels use powdered eggs. But the room where we ate wasn't very appealing and it looked like the owner/manager of the hotel uses this for living space for family.||||If we ever find ourselves out this way again, we will look for...
