Studio 66 Cafe — Restaurant in Holbrook

after a long night at the Wigwam hotel, my boyfriend and i wanted to find some good eats before heading back to our hometown. we discovered this hidden gem with so many food and drink options! they serve house barbecue, signature buffalo sauce, and more.

the baristas were so sweet and asked clarifying questions while we were ordering to ensure we got exactly what we wanted. she even filled my thermoflask with ice and filtered water before we left.

for drinks, i ordered the iced white chocolate chai with oatmilk and cold foam. the flavor profile was amazing! it was sweet and spiced well, with a fluffy, thick layer of cold foam on top. my boyfriend ordered a monster energy with some berry flavoring and it tasted like candy in a cup. they were both amazing.

for food, i ordered the motheroad loaded fries which are topped with juicy, tender pulled pork, creamy, sharp mac n cheese, and bacon pieces, with a house made barbecue drizzle. i just had it earlier this morning and my mouth is still watering typing this out. my boyfriend ordered the crispy chicken sandwich which came with a house made special sauce. it was so simple yet so delicious. the chicken was crispy and juicy, the sauce was tangy and umami (probably mayonnaise based). we ordered a side of the house made buffalo sauce which had just the right balance of spicy, vinegary bite. SO. GOOD.

Holbrook AZ seems to be full of hidden treasures, and I do mean HIDDEN! There's a lot of potential here and it so nice to find gems like this one. A happy & positive Atmosphere! Classic car & truck ROUTE 66 theme (The first thing you see upon entering is the chopped cup truck table/counter top which really amused me). I've driven past this place for most of a year without really noticing it, but I'm glad I finally made it a point to stop in! I was only there for coffee so I had a cup of their iced coffee (Excellent, BTW), but I couldn't resist some spumoni ice cream because I haven't even seen any since I lived in the North End of Boston years ago. Yum!

I didn't expect to see a menu of very tasty sounding smoothies and shakes. I'm planning to try out some of these in the future.

The super friendly owner chatted with us about the local area while we were taking our sweet time. He didn't even mention it was past closing time until I asked him when they would be closing. It would not have been unreasonable for him to rush us a bit, or even lose patience, but he was totally cool! Nice guy! He made us feel very welcome and I truly appreciate that!

(He said they'll be extending their hours until 7pm very soon. I guess it's a popular time for other people too!)

Driving away I noticed the drive-through window. This is a good move encouraging patronage of a small, local establishment when time and convenience are factors. Definitely glad to see...

Our second bad food experience from 4 star places in Holbrook. Ordered takeout a hamburger and fries with ketchup for the fries and a crispy chicken sandwich with onion rings. The burger patty was red and raw most of the way through! The patty had no seasonings such as salt and pepper! The fries had no salt and came without the ketchup asked for. Now the worse screwup, the crispy chicken sandwich turned out to be chicken salad on a croissant! Not even close to what was ordered and what receipt said. The good news is the onion rings were ok. Our opinion after 2 bad meals at 4 star places in Holbrook is a message to not eat in this town. So sad, and missed opportunity for someone that wants to feed visitors here.

So you can address the issue with the employees, this occurred Wednesday afternoon at 3.25 pm on April 30 according the receipt we still have.
