Tropic Isle Hotel & Apts — Hotel in Hollywood

Location to restaurants and beach were amazing. The 2-bedroom family apartment appeared to be recently renovated. However, the place had several issues including unfinished drywall, holes exposing wiring around outlets, doors that do not seal (you can see daylight around the door frames and watched a cockroach easily crawl right under the door in the next-door unit). Unit was not well stocked. We had to ask multiple times for trash bags, toilet paper, no dish soap or anything besides a broom for cleaning. Beds were creaky and sagged in the middle. Night life from Mamacitas is extremely loud at night. We had light housekeeping 1 time during our weeklong stay. We had to ask multiple times for clean towels and always seemed to be an inconvenience. When I asked the housekeeper for an additional blanket after our daughter had an accident in the night, we were told no, but when my husband asked it was brought. This place overall could be super cute if things were fixed up. Private small patio area in the back with a picnic table but there were several old tree branches down, weeds, and no comfortable place to sit. If I could leave this hotel 0 stars I would. The room is very dated and does not look like it does in the picture. The pictures are very deceiving. Upon checking in my room was dirty and had major roach issues. There was an infestation that they said they were "working on". Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable as a business. They fumigated the rooms next door to mine and said all the roaches ran into my room. I booked this traveling with my daughters and weren't able to use the kitchen at all. Such an inconvenience. The topping on the cake was the property manager Mateo or "Matthew". Extremely rude and unprofessional. They said it's "the season" for roach problems. Maybe if you spend enough money on pest control it wouldn't be a problem like all the other hotels in the area. This is my buyers beware to everyone before it'll be a buyers remorse. There are plenty of other places to stay on the strip that I've never had a problem with before. Will, the manager, was amazing! He offers a discount if you call and book directly with him. We were going to arrive after office hours (9-5) so I called him and he sent me a code to the room so we could get in when we arrived and allowed me to register the next morning. Quaint small room, but had all I needed. It was very clean, comfortable bed, full size fridge. We didn’t cook but there were some dishes. Small parking lot-enough for all the rooms. You just have to take the chain off the lot as he leaves it up so beach/Broadwalk goers don’t park there. Best part-it’s about 100 yards or less to the Broadwalk and beach. Really good restaurants right there on Broadwalk. Will is around there working during the day and always waves or asks if everything is ok.
