It is so quiet here. I've stayed in another Candlewood property and it was noise upstairs next door downstairs but this visit is off the beaten path as in you can't see it from the highway even though there's more rooms there's three floors and the windows are huge. The rooms are bigger. The bathrooms are bigger. TV leaves a lot to be desired but not enough to take away a star. Wish it had a DVD player in every room. I know I can rent one downstairs but the business area is big. Even my lawyer was impressed at what I was paying for the suite because of how nice and spacious and you have everything you need. If you need anything which I needed some extra padding because of a back surgery and the nice guy that works as the night time desk got me too and I put them underneath the waterproof mattress pad to give me a double pillow top. He also gave me extra pillows to prop my back up on and no one has said a crossword to me or if I get down there at 3:00 a.m. and need a pillow or I accidentally drooled on a pillow and need another case or to change out towels nobody is inconvenienced. Nobody acts like you're bothering them. It's super clean. I stayed in here while housekeeping cleaned my room and she was a doll and did such a great job. My sink was shiny when she left. Everything smells clean the water gets plenty hot the stove works great and the microwave is gigantic. It's updated I've never heard one that didn't just go beep beep beep. This one has a little melody which kind of freaked me out the first time cuz I was in the bathroom and I didn't know where the sounds coming from. Now with all the pillows all I want to do is sleep. I'll be having to spend Christmas here which wouldn't be my first choice but you do what you have to do when you're going through a divorce. I give it all the stars. I'm at the GM and she is very very personable. She took time out of her busy paperwork to come and talk to me. when I got to my room I had a red star on my door showing that I was a spire elite member which means basically I've spent a lot of money. But, they have the cutest signs for the door one of them says catching some z's quiet please I just leave it on there all the time. Cuz I sleep every minute that I can. It's like they're pumping narcolepsy into my room. Lol. It's just nice and quiet and there's not much else I can say other than I don't have to worry if I can get laundry done because there's plenty of machines and dryers. If I need a sewing kit at 4:00 a.m. I can go to the pantry and buy one and have it charged to my room You just fill out a piece of paper with your room number date how much it was what you got and sign your name and slip it in a slot or just slip the cash in the slot. It is on the truth system where no one is standing there you just do the right thing. I've been here a week and this is the best hotel that I've...
Read more*Editing due to management response: We stayed from Wednesday to Monday. We did not get housekeeping a single time during our stay, despite requesting it at two different occasions at the front desk (Friday and Saturday). So, to say that we receive cleaning on the 4th day—- where was our cleaning? Also, there was a sign on the fitness room door saying the facilities were out of order, so…
I mean, there’s a reason it’s a 2-star hotel, I guess. I don’t think I’ve stayed in this bad of a hotel in a decade. When we got in, the lady at the front desk was more interested in her personal call than checking us in and it took close to 10min. All of the amenities are closed, the elevator sounds like it’s about to break at any moment, and the rooms are nothing great. The bed is comfortable enough, but the shower feels like it’s going to fall through if you move wrong (it’s not attached to the floor), the water pressure and hot water are nonexistent, they gave us the wrong kind of coffee for the coffee pot, and there are next to no glasses/dishes/cutlery to use in the suite.. if you can even call it that. We had no shampoo or body wash in the shower either. We’ve been here since Wednesday night (it’s Saturday night that I’m writing this) and the cleaners haven’t stopped at the room even once. We had to go down and ask for more towels, shampoo/body wash, and asked for them to clean… and they still didn’t. We were also told we needed to bring our dirty towels down for an “exchange.” Which.. maybe do your job and change out the towels. At least maybe even just once in 3 days? What...
Read moreWe stayed one nt will passing thru from Houston to Gatlinburg. We had Sonesta points to use so chose this location. Before booking I specifically asked the reservation 800 number the following: ||Do they offer any type of breakfast? ||Do they have a fitness facility that is currently open and operating? ||I was told yes to both questions and thus the reason I chose this location vs other |Sonesta’s in Birmingham. Apparently the person I spoke with had no idea bc upon arrival was told the property has never offered any breakfast and the gym is still closed due to COVID. We really wanted a workout after 10 hrs of sitting in the car. ||The hotel is OLD. Our room was clean and ok for one nt stay. However, the room smelled of an unidentifiable odor. The bathroom walls had yellow stains. The vent was rusty. The room was spacious, though, with a separate bedroom from the kitchen and living room. ||Strong smell of moth balls in the parking lot. Found a pile of moth balls at the back door entrance. Large rubber maid tub just sitting atop the landscape bushes. Odd. ||The property was well located to retail areas for dining, etc..... No restaurants within walking distance, though. ||Parking lot well lit and were able to park right outside our room window. ||Was located off the main road with some less traveled roads. This allowed us to at least get a run in the morning before departing. Would also allow for an evening walk if interested. ||Not sure when Sonesta took over from IHG, but need to come in with...
