My experience at Gloss Nails was unacceptable. I came in with a clear example of what I wanted and was promised they could do it. Despite the nail tech visibly struggling, I asked several times for her to get help, and no one assisted her. I paid $206for a full set and pedicure, and within two days the nails started lifting, smudging, and chipping. By day three, they were completely falling apart.
As I left, I saw another Black woman dealing with the same issue on her big toes â clearly this is a recurring problem here.
When I asked for a refund, the staff argued with me instead of taking responsibility. On top of that, I was isolated from the rest of the customers. Despite multiple open chairs, they put me in the last chair in the back and left me there. No one checked on me, and every customer who came in after was seated comfortably at the front.
I am autistic and have ADHD, which makes these kinds of situations extremely overwhelming. I communicated my needs and asked for help multiple times, and was completely ignored. Now, I have to spend even more money to have someone else fix what Gloss Nails messed up â all because they refused to take accountability and provide the service they guaranteed.
I do not feel safe, respected, or comfortable returning, and I will be attaching photos to show the poor quality of their work.
Update. This salon uses you illegal MMA products, the nail tech to soaked off my nails when I had to pay for a new full set and for my toes to be done again informed me that MMA is illegal and is banned by the board...

The whole time we were being told what they were going to do instead of them listening to what we wanted. It's sad I had to stand firm and tell them No!we don't want that. At one point my daughter was told by one woman she was going to do her nails and she was quickly brushed off to another man that was quick to tell me what design he was going to do on my child's nails- that's a No no sir. He made my child feel like he didn't want to do her nails (although I asked for a cluster of small diamonds on one finger but was told that would be a lot of money for one nail design for a child) He literally just placed one diamond that fell off the next day. Now,I have to go somewhere else to have the design placed back huge inconvenience. My nail tech tried to fast talk me with the prices, thankfully I'm good with math and was able to correct her with hers.When asked the prices of what the services would be before services were rendered both nail techs became irritated and began to talk about my daughter and I with their counterparts. Little did they know I understood every word they said about us thanks to a little app. Maybe this business should practice not talking about and belittling their customers,while they are in front of them. I came in ahead of 3 people, sat for an hour, before I was sat at a pedicure chair of water. And those 3 people were all still serviced before me. I had eventually just dried my feet and left. Thats unprofessional & bad business. Its so many nail salons in Birmingham and your customer service is what sets your standards above the rest. I really thought higher of this business but I do not anymore.
Update: I notice your rebuttal is always about appointments. Lets just be clear. I came in, told you what I wanted and began looking at polish, one of you advised me to wash my hands. Mind you at any nail salon they usually have you wash your hands before servicing not when you walk in and are waiting. That worker clearly did not like that I did not wash my hands immediately after she said it. So she clearly decided I'd wait 3 people later. One of those young ladies even asked me how long I had been waiting. An appointment holder wouldnt even ask that question.
