There's absolutely no way I'll return here to sell or buy anything in the future. Several years ago, I sold a few things and got a decent deal, but this place has become a glorified personal injury firm equivalent of a retail store (IYKYK). Contingency fees are a sham, and so is this place.
Came in on Friday after driving a half hour one way in traffic and they told me to drop my six 13 gallon bags in this huge line of others' merch and fill out a form. Fine. I get that times are rough and we ALL need extra cash right now. So I fill out the form but then, given my background with INFOSEC, get very wary of leaving a form with every bit of my PII save for my blood type and SSN in plain view for people buying there. So I thoroughly redact every bit of info and just say I'll call them Monday to see if it's ready.
I drive a half hour home and not two hours later, they call (guess the number was still in their system) and say they're done. I could've saved myself a second and third trip had I known and just stayed on 280, but cool. So not only have they gone through the 23 bags and boxes ahead of mine but MY six bags as well? BS. No one thoroughly vetted anything whatsoever.
I'm already on my way to the lake so I say I'll just come Monday like I'd planned. I came back Monday at 10AM, out of my way, during my workday to collect and, lo and behold, they don't open till 11AM Mondays. Why? We gotta nurse a hangover? What kinda retail store opens at 11AM on a weekday? Whatever.
I come back A THIRD TIME to pick up my cash and they've selected 24 items. TWENTY-FOUR ITEMS and give me a measly $96. The worst part is stuff that was older and cheaper than the items I brought in were selling there for $45 (shoes, that is, which, coincidentally, were the only items they decided to take). So, in other words, they screwed me out of major money and were gonna upsell them exponentially to other unsuspecting people.
On top of that, they didn't even bother trying to untie the bag ties and just ripped them off and they snagged a couple bags so clothing was spilling out all over the sidewalk as I reloaded my car. In essence, after three trips and them taking the most valuable items and paying me jacksquat for them, I basically came out even in gas and Hefty bag money. I was literally telling patrons, word of mouth, as I left to never shop there again....
Read moreTwo stars for staff attitudes and poor customer service.
I dropped off one pair of shoes to sell at 3:00. The staff told me they would take about 30 minutes. I told them I was going to hang out because I had to leave for work in 45 minutes.
45 min later, I asked if they were almost ready with my one pair of shoes because I had to leave. They said they needed 10-15 more minutes. So I had to leave.
Later that evening I called and was told that they “were unable” to tell me whether they were offering anything for my shoes over the phone. What..??
I told the manager what had happened and suggested that they not make time estimates of 30 minutes unless they were pretty sure they could stick to it. Her answer was dismissive and rude, saying they were short-staffed. I’m sorry, but we’re talking about one pair of shoes. And even if you are short-staffed, you can let people know ahead of time that you will be taking longer than usual, so that they can make their plans accordingly.
I told them to keep the shoes or throw them away. I’d hesitate to shop or sell...

I visited Style Encore today and was thoroughly disappointed in the service I received. I walked in at 5:59 p.m., just before their closing time of 6:00 p.m., with a couple of quick questions. I wasn't even there to shop. The young lady behind the counter immediately told me, from across the room, that they were closed. I politely acknowledged and left, but the experience left a bad impression.
As someone with a background in retail, I was surprised by the treatment. The sign on the door was still on, and it was blinking “Open,” so it didn’t feel like they were officially closed. In my experience, it’s unusual (and frankly poor customer service) to ask someone to leave once they’ve already entered the store, especially if they’re simply asking a question.
I expect more from a place that relies on customer satisfaction, and this experience has definitely affected my opinion of...
