We loved the location of this motel. It is tucked back in a quiet corner, right near a usable spring but close enough to town to walk. It is right near an access road to Hot Springs National Park. It is also right near an old brick walkway that leads to Bathhouse row. The motel is older with a retro vibe. The owner is on site, but was not especially friendly or present during our 2 night stay. The room is very basic. It was "clean" but not deep clean. The tile shower was very very tight....if you are a larger person; good luck! It was nice that they left you a plastic bottle to bring home some mineral water. It was pretty quiet overall. We often saw folks sitting out in front of their unit; there is a little table and 2 chair in front of your room. It could have used some tissues. Overall, pretty clean, but in need of a deeper clean and some basic touch ups (all the paint was peeling off the bathroom door) to elevate the place a bit. It felt safe and quiet (although lots of cars go by to access the nearby spring tap) and was comfy overall. The price point was good for the area. As long as you don't want anything too frilly, this place should...
Read moreHappy Hollow is a nice, dog friendly establishment. I stayed here as a solo travel with my dog for one night. Yes, the hotel is dated and you can tell it’s older. But they’ve been working on updating it and it shows. I stayed in a king room. It was clean, had a coffee maker, fridge, TV, microwave, water jug to fill up on the nearby spring, and soap, shampoo, lotion, etc in the bathroom. It has a heating unit to warm the room that worked well. Parking was easy. I agree with reviews on the showering being small, so if you are a person who needs/likes bigger showers this is not the place for you. However, if you are a person looking for a reasonably priced, very conveniently located hotel with a comfortable bed I cannot recommend this place more. My dog is not a long distance walker and he could easily make it to the downtown area. There was no pet fee. The staff I interacted with on phone calls and in person were amazing, even when I needed to rearrange my trip dates. Next time I’m in hot springs, I will stay here again! This place is a gem and if you are looking for a straight-forward place to stay this would be the...
Read moreWe stayed there a couple of years ago. Happy Hollow is very rustic, so if you are spoiled of the nicer chain motels, I don't think this is the place for you. It is however, a step up above camping out in a cabin somewhere. In the evenings you will need to get in early enough to find a parking spot at the hotel. There is limited parking. One night we had to park on the street, fortunately it was past the parking meter hours. Yes, the police will issue parking tickets in a heartbeat. So we had to get up early enough to put money in the meter or move the car. Forget the internet appeal. There was no internet; that is unless you could pick up the WiFi of the next door hotel that was their ideal of WiFi. Having said all of that, what was positive for the motel was the location. It sits right next to the concrete trails that lead to the park and up the mountain to the Tower. It is also nice and quite and away from the Hot Springs traffic. The water for the showers and drinking water are natural spring water and that is a perk also. So our experience was a mixed bag but mostly a...
