We have stayed here twice in the past 2 years. For the price it is pretty decent. They seemed to have done upgrades since we were there last. There is still work to be done but you can tell they are trying to keep it together.
I was a bit disappointed that we stayed at the end of July, middle of summer, and the pool was closed. That was one of the reasons we wanted to stay at this particular motel. It’s a good price, decently clean, on the outskirts of Houston (since we would go to Galveston for the day), across from a Walmart and McDonald’s (perfect when you have kids traveling) and has a nice pool. I just wish it was posted online or we were told or a sign on the pool saying it was closed but nope. After a long morning and afternoon of running around we all got ready for the pool and couldn’t get it and was told it was closed until the next week, kids don’t really understand that so it would have been easier if we were aware of this ahead of time instead of getting them ready just to be disappointed.
Like I said for the price it’s decent. There were things wrong with the room. Pretty minor things though and when comparing to our last time there, you can see the little improvements. This room they had just shampooed the carpet so it smelled nice, the bedding was extra starchy but they were two twins so it was a bit hard to maneuver all of us (ended up putting the mattresses on the floor and putting them together). There was nail polish on the sink, the handle for the hot on the faucet was missing and the tub’s faucet leaked. But again these are minor.
The only thing that i would complain about was the loud music that went on upstairs most of the night. But the kids didn’t seem to notice and slept fine so I ignored it.
Would stay at again...
Read moreMy family & I had came to town for the stock show. A head of time we called multiple times & repeatedly got hung up on. We pulled in to the drive & it is nothing like the picture. The photo must have been when they first opened. The young man at the front desk was very rude, & the lobby had trash everywhere from his lunch. They did not except the deals on Expedia. Every other hotel/motel was booked for the rest of the week, so we had to stay. They people at the front desk were VERY rude. We had left to go to the stock show & intended to come back & they rooms to be cleaned. The beds were made;however, the trash was still full & our belongings had been re-arganged the maid had went through my belongings & took money out of my makeup bag. Then went to the front desk & told them NOT to clean/enter our rooms until we checked out. So the next morning we put the do NOT disturb signs on the doors (we had 2 rooms). We came back that evening & the signs were gone, opened our doors & the rooms had been entered & cleaned after we specifically told them not to. We went to the desk & they told us they would call the lady over housekeeping. She had said "the signs were on the ground" on both doors? It was very suspicious. We had wanted to iron our show clothing, but there was no iron. We went to the front & they was going to charge us a $20 fee just to use an iron. Tried to go to sleep that night & the bar right across from our room was extremely loud & we got NO sleep. The area is horrible (ghetto) & I would not trust your children to walk to the vehicle by themselves. With that being said I pray you do NOT use this horrible place, we will be reporting this to the better...
Read moreThe employees at Houston Inn & Suites are very nice! I have dealt with them off & on, for about five or six years & they are my go-to when visiting on a tight budget! I have seen reviews talking about how they treat mixed marriages indifferent, but I am a white wife to a black man & have two beautiful mixed kids & have had absolutely no trouble with racism! I know that this hotel is very budget friendly & is ran by Hispanics & they don't play when they know about any kind of drug of violent activities. They get rid of tenants quick if they see a problem because they want to stay budget friendly for the tenant's sake; therefore, it's a 0 tolerance for all stupidity!!! Also, Houston is very humid, so Houston, itself, has water bugs, not just Houston Inn & Suites, but the staff & employees keep the bug issue down the best they can for Houston... There is WiFi, but just like anywhere else, it can get overloaded sometimes & be slow. Everything you get here is normal. Especially for the price. We paid $65 + tax. That's budget friendly & safe. And if you see any activity, which people are people & they will definitely try it just like anywhere else; call the front desk & let them know. The manager is awesome & takes care of things like that. She is awesome! I think I have covered everything... fridge, microwave, free WiFi, free parking & coffee in the morning in...
