Roaches... I understand it's impossible to never have an insect in your restaurant, but it's how you handle it that counts. Decided to dine at Mint this evening and had a bad encounter with a flying roach. We had literally just finished our appetizer and were about to start the main course when a roach decided to join us by crawling on the wall directly next to our table. I advised the waitress and asked if she had anything to kill it and she advised someone else to come handle the situation from the kitchen. Their idea was to bring out a paper plate and swat it away. At which point the roach decided to take flight directly at us and onto our table. Needless to say we were done with our dinner before even getting started. The solution offered was to move us to another table, which we declined and advised her that we were going to leave. As mentioned, we literally had just received our main course. She said she was sorry and gave us our check, LOL. Instead of trying to make it right, the lady that swatted at the roach tried to make excuses and said that someone let the roach in when they opened the front door. Mind you, were sitting toward the counter of the restaurant and it was not coming from the direction of the front door. You can figure out for yourself where it was coming from. Needless to say, this is not a place we will be returning to. Not because they had a roach appear, but because of the way it...
Read moreUsed to go to mint thai for most special occasions before covid, obviously some of their pre-covid qualities have diminished with covid. It's expected though, hence why it's only four stars.
Pros: Food still tastes the same. Food came VERY quickly compared to every time before. Quantity is still the same (for lunch at least). They take covid seriously unlike most of these businesses with their throw away plates, sanitizing every table after the people come and go, and plastic shields at the bar.
Cons: Way too expensive since you're no longer getting the sit down experience. Probably just a one time thing, but service was meh. Thai tea had too much ice (I know, amazing thing to complain about). The spring roll/egg roll was colder than room temp even though it was peak lunch time. Their salad has turned into literally just shredded lettuce, which I found more funny than disappointing lol!! I think their spice has turned into caucasian levels of spice, level three used to be good but it honestly tasted like italian levels of spice this time. I recommend a four at the minimum if you can handle some moderate spice.
Overall, still not a bad place to go, would recommend it for those special occasions and only...
Read moreI'll never be back. Had the Tom Kha Gai and the Pad Thia, both with chicken. Chicken tasted peculiar in both. And not in a good tasty sort of way. The coup de grace was our specific waitress. She must have been having a bad day, and in turn ruined our experience. After she seating us, I asked to have the table wiped down as it was sticky. She was reluctant and then surly at having to wipe the table down. We should have left right then. My wife had ordered the green curry, also with chicken. It arrived with pork or beef, and another waitress took it back into the kitchen when our waitress returned to argue that my wife had indeed ordered her dish with beef. The order taking waitress was in total error, and to try and argue the point was beyond futile. She then rolled her eyes and said she would remove it from the bill. She didn't. I hope she finds a new line of work as waiting tables doesn't suit her and broadcasting her negativity does not help a small business win repeat customers. In the meantime, the flavors were fine to mediocre, but the table sticky, the bathrooms also sticky and filthy, and a disgruntled millennial waitress: pass. Best of luck Mint, you...
