Subject: Serious Concerns Regarding Recent Stay at Days Inn in Ohio To Whom It May Concern, I travel to Ohio twice a year to visit my adult children and grandchildren. This year, at the request of my grandchildren, we specifically chose Days Inn because of the outdoor pool, which was a major part of their excitement for the trip. We usually stay with another hotel brand, where children have always been welcome to use the pool without issue. Unfortunately, during this stay, we encountered unexpected restrictions regarding the children accessing the pool, which was both disappointing and confusing—especially since this was the primary reason we chose this location. More concerning, however, was an incident involving hotel staff and local law enforcement. After arriving early in the morning following a long drive from Nevada, we spent the day with family. Later that evening, while my husband and I stepped out to drop off family members and get food, we were shocked to learn that law enforcement had been contacted by hotel staff. The officer informed us that a woman named Jennifer had allegedly called from our room, claiming her boyfriend Daryl was holding her hostage and requested police intervention. This call was made while our room was unoccupied. The officer also mentioned that other guests had reported prior concerns about this same staff member. We were disturbed to learn that the call originated from our room and felt deeply unsettled by the situation. As a result of this incident, we were forced to check out the following morning. We felt unfairly treated, especially considering that the allegations were completely false. Given the sensitive nature of interactions between law enforcement and people of color, this experience was particularly distressing. Thankfully, the responding officer was both supportive and informative, which helped ease a very tense situation. I’m sharing this experience in hopes that serious attention will be given to how situations like this are handled moving forward. I also urge clearer communication about hotel policies—particularly those impacting families with children—and greater accountability from staff when interacting with...
Read moreWe enjoyed a recent stay here. I wanted to rate this higher based on interaction with a couple of the front desk staff members. The young man who checked us in and the young lady who checked us out were very pleasant and helpful. However, there were several little things that added up, so I can only give it 3 stars. It started when we arrived. I suddenly realized that all the rooms exit to the outside of the building like a motel, not a hotel. The picture does show the doors, so it was my bad for not realizing that. That isn't exciting when you arrive and it's rainy (which it was). Next, we checked in and as we arrived at our room, the door was open and it was still being cleaned, so we had to wait. It was after 5pm, so we were surprised it wasn't ready. On a positive note, it did appear (and smell) nicely cleaned and the beds were comfortable (though the sheets seemed a bit small on the beds.) The room size also felt a bit on the small side for 3 people. They had the info for the wireless access, and the TV was a nice, updated, flat screen, but there was no TV channel information in the room (that would have been nice). It had a mini fridge which worked well and was nice and clean, but when I opened the microwave to use it, the rotating plate had, what appeared to be, fresh melted cheese from a microwave pizza or hot pocket. There was still moisture on the inside of the microwave door. Maybe housekeeping was hungry? Finally, the size of the eating area was very small and cramped, but the breakfast iyself had some good things like fresh made pancakes (a machine makes them while you wait), hot eggs, sausage gravy, excellent biscuits, freshly made oatmeal, toast and yogurt. There were two juices, coffee, cold cereal and milk, too. It lacked fresh fruit and some type of danish or muffin, but all in all, it was good. I think this is a good place for a quick, overnight stay and very convenient to grocery store, shopping and a fabulous...

The location is convenient to I-70, but ask for a room away from the interstate side of the hotel. It's incredibly noisy - the door and drapes do not muffle the highway noise by much.
Service upon registering and checking out was friendly.
Room 126 - here's where the problems begin: Cigarette burn in the duvet cover. Exceptionally flat pillows - that should have been retired quite some time ago. Someone else's burrito in the refrigerator. Someone else's hair tie in the corner. Facial hair in several spots on the bathroom counter and sink. Layers of dust visibly hanging from the exhaust fan in the bathroom. The space between the lid and the tank of the toilet hadn't been cleaned in a while. There were several corners that hadn't been swept or cleaned in a while. The door hangers that read "do not disturb" etc...were filthy with greasy/food/dirty finger prints. The dead spider on the floor. Burned out light bulbs over the bathroom vanity.
I'm willing to overlook one or two things, but when there are this many, I can't. I brought this all to the attention of the night auditor/front desk associate, and he's supposed to have the manager call me after 8 am, when they arrive. We travel a lot and when we checked in last night (after 9:30 pm) I didn't have the energy to go over to the office and request a new room, or I would have. I also didn't notice several of these things until this morning.
Overall, it was a "safe" place to stop for the night, but I'd inspect the room before I bring my bags in to stay. I don't expect perfection for $100 a night, but I do expect a bare minimum of cleanliness. When we pass through this area again in a few months, we will not be staying...
