I do NOT recommend this guesthouse unless absolutely necessary. I stayed one night at the LAX Guesthouse on August 30 in order to catch an early-morning flight the next day. When I made the online booking earlier that day, there was just one bed left. When I arrived at the hostel in the afternoon, I immediately noticed an odor permeating the two-floor structure. It smelled like a combination of urine & laundry soap. (When I complained about the smell later, the staff claimed they couldn't smell anything, but this is ridiculous.) I checked in and was led to Room #3 on the 1st floor. The room was crammed with 3 bunk beds for six people. There was little space to move around. Towels and sheets are provided. There was no air-conditioning in the room, only one window. Unfortunately, directly outside the window is an outdoor space for guests, so it can be a bit noisy if there are people chatting outside (and there were). Although there is some shelving in the room, there is no lock-box for valuables of any kind, nor did the room door have a lock on it. Basically, apart from the front door, the hostel has no security. Other guests have complete access to your stuff. In the doorway of Room #3 sat a large oscillator fan, which was constantly on and set at maximum. It was either used for ventilation or to reduce the foul smell of urine/laundry soap. The fan is LOUD. It sounded like a small airplane propellor. Bring your ear plugs! (When I tried to lower the setting of the fan before bedtime, another guest in the room (who was very drunk!) turned it back up to maximum. I later learned that this guest also worked at the hostel. (It seems the staff also stay there, and they have all the power.) There was one bathroom/shower on the first floor and one on the second floor. No soap or shampoo is provided. However, in the morning, there was NO HOT WATER. There was also a dead cockroach on the floor of the bathroom. In short, although the beds at the hostel are cheap, you have to deal with the noise, terrible smell, and indifferent service. Frankly, I'm surprised this place is...
Read moreThere are more than FIFTEEN PEOPLE SHARING ONE shower. There is a sign on the shower stating it can't be used but the manager was using it. See the towel pictured on the hook and the shower caddy in the shower. Please observe the water droplets inside the shower. I took my shower at 24 hour fitness.
There are smokers there that smoke right outside the open window. The law is they should be 25 feet from the building.
There is major "LOUD" phone use without consideration that it is a shared space.
The white rack is where you're allowed to place your personal items while staying here. In the picture you will see all shelves occupied. My shelf is being used by a "resident".
The lady in the bunk above me was playing loud videos she thought were hilarious and constantly laughed out loud in a disturbing manner.
Someone constantly closed the restroom door (unoccupied) but would leave the occupied bedroom door open so you would hear all noise throughout this hostel.
There was screaming while I was there; sustained screaming.
There was a guy painting the walls and told us not to touch the various walls.
The toilets were CONSTANTLY unflushed!
There is NO sink in one restroom so you have to use something to open the door so you don't get fecal matter on your hands from the door handle after wiping. You have to go down two flights of stairs to get to the water source to wash your hands.
One of the guys that lived there stared you down like you were his next conquest.
I can't in good conscience recommend...
Read moreAbsolutely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Especially if you donât wanna sleep in a room with THREE Bunk beds, 1 is in a closet/den ONLY separated by a curtain. There is another door in the same exact room that MORE people are staying in so you could really be in a room no lie with up to 9-10 strangers. Kinda odd to me. They put MEN AND WOMEN WHO DONT KNOW EACH OTHER IN THE SAME ROOM. The owner is RUDE & allegedly has dementia. Not something I care about since he shouldnât be working if he has a medical condition THAT powerful. They OVERBOOKED and almost tried to cancel MY NON REFUNDABLE (regardless) booking when I didnât check in at 11am same day. They were going to give me NO heads up but keep my money. The staff will talk about customers right there to the owner. Also the owner DOES NOT BELIEVE IN KNOCKING. He has came into the shared room MULTIPLE times without knocking. I felt UNCOMFORTABLE my entire stay. Also I had a âpay at hotelâoption ⌠that does NOT matter. They will STILL authorize your card ANYWAY. Unsure why youâre even allowed this option if they still give the owners rights to charge your card for full payment and try to make it non refundable regardless. I WILL be talking to Trip.com regarding my stay. DO NOT ATTEND DO NOT...
