Read moreI reserved the room online. I was under the impression that I booked a 2 bedroom suite. When I arrived at the hotel, the receptionist gave me my key and I proceeded to my room. Upon entering, I noticed 2 queen beds and no separate bedroom. I went to the front desk and explained that I reserved a different room. She looked at my reservation and informed me that I did not reserve the room that I thought I did. She checked to see if a 2 bedroom suite was available and it was. Although it cost more, I took the room. We went up to the room only to be greeted by the horrible stench of stale cigarette smoke. It was disgusting. We tried to open a window but found that the windows do not open. We ended up going to Walmart to get candles and sprays to mask the smell. We informed the front desk of the smell and they offered to send up people who can fan out the room. We said ok, but I'm not sure if they came up or not. The front desk woman also credited us a night due to the smell. The smell was really bad and I worried about smelling like cigarettes because I know how that smell sticks to people and clothes. We avoided our room as much as possible. The bathroom walls had white stuff smeared on it and the door had dirty hand prints. The bathroom wasn't gross but could use a little wall and door scrubbing. The fitness center did not have anything to wipe the machines down with which is kind of gross. The staff at the hotel were great. Everyone we came into contact with was very kind, helpful, and cheery. The staff was the saving grace to our visit. If it wasn't for them, we would have been very...
Read moreMy family just sold our home and needed a place to stay in the interim until the close of the other home. We drove further out to stay here and I could not have made a better decision. I read the reviews before booking this temporary stay and I made a good decision. The staff from the managers to front desk to the housekeepers and maintenance is what makes the Joliet South a special place. They made our family's stay not only an enjoyable one but they were welcoming to us from the minute we walked through the sliding door all the way and past until we left to move to the new home. They make you feel welcome, they care, they handle issues immediately and the hotel is immaculate. They keep the rooms, hallways, pool area and grounds very clean and sanitized. The breakfast as stated by other reviews is great and plentiful. We love the fruit kept throughout the day for the guests and the entire ambiance. I want Marriott Management to know that the people who work there - all of the ladies and the guys is making the difference everyday in people's lives as they stay at the Joliet South. Please value the team that is working there, we appreciated them during a very stressful time in my family's life between two homes....
