I am so disappointed with this Candlewood location. First let me say that my husband and I travel 100% of the time for his work, therefore we are always in a motel every night of the week every day of the month. We have grown to enjoy Candlewood Suites over time, even though they do not provide any sort of breakfast, because of their spacious rooms. We bounce back and forth between Hilton's line and the IHG line of motels as we travel from location to location. Staying @ Candlewood for the 2 weeks we are here cost us over $2000. That said I will list why I am so disappointed with this Candlewood: They only provide housekeeping service once every 7 days. While I understand this for extended stay visitors, we still need some things on a daily basis that are not provided here at this establishment ie. toilet paper and trash removal services. Furthermore, the front desk telephone is 100% of the time off the hook meaning I cannot call down for tp and trash removal or anything else that may arise for that matter. Less of an issue but still very unprofessional, especially considering what we pay to be here per night! When I go down to the lobby to ask for toilet paper I am greeted daily by a very rude woman, has been the same rude woman every day and her attitude toward me (and I am very pleasant I might add...) is callous and dismissive. She rolls her eyes, asks questions (condescendingly) like .. "you go through a roll of tp every day?" (as if I am interested in conversing with an employee about my family's bathroom hygiene habits) and tells me that I can take my trash to the dumpsters at the far end of the motel if I cannot wait 7 days for the maid to provide service. Seriously?? take out my own trash?? What am I paying for???? As well she gave me a 100 gallon trash bag to use rather than the smaller bags designed for the cans in the room... suggesting that since I have so much trash I may need the larger bag. I will say that our trash never exceeds the small 5 gallon cans provided until day 3 with no service. The room was not clean when I checked in. Aside from the absolutely filthy floor and the sheets which look rumpled and used, there is a pan on the stove full of God knows what that the maids obviously weren't concerned with. Not very thorough or professional. I have not mentioned this to the person at the front desk as I was not interested in making complaints or being a Karen, I mopped the floor on my own with a towel so as not to stick to it when I walk across it but chose to leave the dirty pan on the stove as I am scared to open the lid. Another problem with this motel is the lack of input channels on the TV. We are here for 2 weeks at a time sometimes more and really enjoy using our streaming services. Normally we are able to plug in our Roku and change the input but this place specifically blocks the input channels... I can't figure out to what advantage?? The water pressure is awful in the shower, kitchen sink has a powerful spray though! This isn't the first motel I have stayed in with a few issues. Normally I choose to overlook the issues, this time I cannot because of the very rude woman at the front desk. It's one thing to pay $2000 + for a half clean room with no breakfast or maid service and entirely another thing to pay for someone to treat me with such rude unprofessional contempt. I am sorry you hate your job but if you can't be pleasant you should not work as a customer service representative. I will never stay at this...
Read moreDuring our recent family visit to Chicago, we had the pleasure of staying at the Candlewood Suites, and it turned out to be an excellent choice for our extended stay. This cozy and convenient hotel provided everything we needed to make our time in Chicago enjoyable and comfortable.
Upon entering the hotel, we were warmly greeted by Susan at the front desk, who ensured a smooth check-in process. The lobby had a welcoming ambiance, and the modern decor set a positive tone for our stay. We were pleased to find that our room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, offering ample space for our family to relax and unwind.
The suite itself was equipped with a fully functional kitchen, which was a great advantage for us. It allowed us to prepare our own meals and save on dining expenses, especially since traveling with kids often calls for flexibility in meal times. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances, including a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, and even a dishwasher, making it easy to maintain cleanliness and order during our stay.
The beds were comfortable and provided a good night's sleep, ensuring we were well-rested for our daily adventures. The overall room layout was well-designed, with a separate seating area that allowed us to spend quality time together as a family, whether it was watching TV or playing games.
One aspect we particularly appreciated about Candlewood Suites Joliet was their commitment to guest convenience. Additionally, the complimentary laundry facilities were a great amenity, especially for families who are on an extended trip.
The hotel's location was another highlight. It was conveniently situated near various attractions, shopping centers, and dining options.
The hotel staff was consistently attentive and friendly, always ready to assist us with any inquiries or requests we had during our stay. Their dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction was evident, and it added a personal touch to our experience.
Overall, our stay at Candlewood Suites Joliet was a wonderful one. The combination of comfortable rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, convenient amenities, and a central location made it an ideal choice for a family visit. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming and hassle-free...
Read moreWe have been IHG members for a few years now and have always enjoyed our stays. This Candlewood was disappointing however.
On arrival, we went to the front door only to be directed to the adjoining Holiday Inn for registration. The girl at the desk was a bit short with the person on the phone as I waited to check in stating “I’ll get back to you when I have five minutes to spare.” Only recognized me as past IHG member after I mentioned it. Sort of snobby when I asked about breakfast.
We then walked a ways through a hall back to Candlewood. There was no one around on the whole floor or hotel and when we entered the room the temperature was at 76 (typically around 68 upon arrival), stuffy and had an oder of a bit of sewer/musty smell. We cooled the room down while we were out but when I was trying to sleep I kept smelling a sewage smell.
The next morning there was no hot water for the shower and no body wash in the bottle (I did notify the desk at Holiday Inn at checkout). We were at the very end of the hall which was fine but never heard or saw another guest on our wing. We both agreed it seemed the room hadn’t been used in awhile.
Why we had to check in and out at the Holiday Inn is beyond me.
Disappointed and will not stay...
