The bathroom features liquid hand soap and hand lotion bottles that are securely locked to the wall for safety and cleanliness.||The toilet is equipped with a lid for convenience. The TV does not have a number input option; instead, users need to scroll through channels. Unfortunately, the couches, both indoors and outdoors, are quite stained and in need of cleaning. They are also uncomfortable.||When I inquired about the bonfire, it was promptly turned on. They typically ignite it around 5 PM, though they can start it earlier if a guest requests. There are plenty of seating options and tables available, but the cushions have seen better days, as they are stained and seem worn down from use, and some are even covered in bird droppings. Trash was scattered around the area. I noticed some guests making s'mores, but there were no s'more kits available.||The hot tub was briefly in use, but then it was reported as "broken and being drained." The following morning, the hot tub was operational again but had a noticeable mildew smell.||The pool room carried a musty odor, and both the hot tub and pool water appeared cloudy. The pool room opens at 6am. Around 10am wet guest towels from the day before were laying all around the pool room. ||Upon entering our room, we noticed a strange smell reminiscent of hot glue. However, the air conditioning worked exceptionally well. The shower area showed signs of mold.||On a positive note, the Burger Theory Restaurant was fantastic—clean and well-maintained. I highly recommend trying the nacho fries! The guacamole packs a spicy punch, and the strawberry lemonade was quite refreshing.||Our room included a microwave and refrigerator for added convenience.||In the lobby, there are two computers available for guest use.||A paid coffee machine is located by the restaurant, while a separate sitting area near the pool entrance features a Bunn coffee machine, offering a variety of coffee flavors.||There’s a small table that includes cups and water, with fresh coffee available starting at 6 AM. However, it’s worth noting that napkins were not readily available near the coffee bar.||If you need to keep the window drapes together, bringing large binder clips can be helpful, as the drapes do not fully close.||The bed was comfortable with a selection of two firm pillows and two soft pillows, though the pillowcases were a bit short.||Unfortunately, staff do not operate the outdoor gas fireplace in the mornings for guests who would like to relax by it with their coffee.||The property does have outdoor grills available for use.||Accessing the elevator beyond the first floor requires a room card. I accidentally left my room cards while heading to the pool, and although the front desk provided a replacement card, the other two became...
Read moreWe were hit with a very strong derecho storm in Joliet where we live. Trees were downed and electricity was lost for 5 days. We stayed at home for awhile but since the recovery date for electricity was push further and further out we decided to go to a hotel. So we read the IHG website safety measures that had been put in place for CoVid19 and felt it would be safe to book a room. When we arrived the outside of the building looked nice, In entering the lobby the decor was very nice and clean. Two people were checking in WITHOUT MASKS. The agent had a mask on. But we started feeling uncomfortable as the info on the web stated all people had to wear masks in common places throughout the building. We stepped back several paces and hoped this was a single incident. Then a staff member came out from the back (I think he was the manager) WITHOUT A MASK and walked slowly around in the lobby and then towards to the restaurant. We were surprised that staff weren't mandated to wear masks. We checked in deciding we would go to our room and not come out until checkout. We had to wait for awhile to take the elevator up because other guests with and without masks were in the elevator ....finally we were able to get to the floor where there were masked, cheerful, helpful housekeeping staff. Our room look clean, smelled good and the decor was nice. In fact it looked brand new.
Once we settled in we found a few problems.
The desk and the slide out table under it are very close to the bed so when the table was halfway out to put your computer on the chair was totally blocking the walkway.
2.The chair is not a desk chair and is not functional for working with a computer. It easily tips backwards.
Trying to control the heat/cold did not work and/or moved very little difference in temp no matter what we did. (Perhaps there should be directions posted)
At least once an hour on the wall between the bathroom and beds there was a loud sounds like a hammer hitting 12 times on the inside of the wall and then rolling down like a waterfall and stopped........this continued all through the day and night - so not much sleep comfort.
We were going to stay two days but decided to cancel the 2nd day. We did ask why people could be in common areas without masks and were told "the signs are up and we can't enforce the state mandates". If that is true there is no way I would...
Read moreThe hotel itself is beautiful, spotless from top to bottom. It has a really nice lobby and a huge fire pit in the back that was lit every night. I wasn't welcomed very warmly but when I had an issue with my reservation a day later, I was helped and made to feel like a valued customer, the same for when my key stopped working and I had to have it reset so service for the most part was great. The room was extremely comfortable, the hotel was packed but you couldn't tell by the noise level, it was perfectly quiet. My Do Not Disturb sign was honored and it was a very nice stay overall. When check out time came I found myself wanting to stay one more day and making a note on where I could buy the comforter that was on the bed because it was just perfect. I love when a hotel has a full service restaurant and usually the reason I'll book one location over the other. It just makes things easier, especially when on a deadline and not wanting to venture out into the cold but the restaurant on site here is only a burger restaurant. Surprise, I'm not a burger fan but there are plenty of options locally so it wasn't too big of a deal except for that going out in the cold business. The breakfast was horrible. First it was confusing on how it all worked. I went up to get a plate and only until I sat down was I confronted with the fact I needed to pay first. Everything was cold and the bacon looked like it was just taken out of the package and thrown in the warmer. Normally if a breakfast buffet isn't great I don't say anything because it is normally free but this one you had to buy vouchers for ahead of time for $10.00 a day or pay $14.99 day of. Also the only option for drink at this buffet was water or orange juice. If you wanted coffee you had to go to the coffee vending machine and pony up $4.00 + and that is if there were cups and it was in working order. Both things occurred the several times I tried to get a cuppa. Needless to say I have unused vouchers in my wallet...
