We purchased a piece of this wonderful community of residents and resort 2 yrs ago and it was the best decision we ever made. Understanding the location and how to get around Key West will be the first steps to having a awesome experience here. Coconut Beach was not designed to be a huge resort with 17 million people, pools, restaurants so if that is what you are looking for then this isn't for you. We bought it because it has a Charleston type feel and is very small. This resort is for folks that want to chill and enjoy the ocean breeze , amazing view and the charm of being surrounded in tropical plants and palms that create a a magical oasis of peace and beauty with views like no other on the island.. It is situated off the southern end of Duval St. for a reason. That being , anytime you want to get away from the mass tourists of Duval St., you can slip right back to this oasis and relax. To the poster that was upset that they had to rent a car to get here and there, then i would add they didn't do their research. Scooter rentals is what everyone does and their is one just around the corner and it is cheap and what everyone does. To that same poster that said restaurants were far away, that too is untrue as you walk thru the back gate and LOUIE'S Back Door is right there and one of the nicest restaurants in Key West . There is also Carolines and Abadonza that are 5 mins away within walking distance as well as 2 fine dining resturaunts at the Waldorf resorts on either side of Coconut Beach Resort.||Back to why Coconut Beach Resort is a hidden gem. We have a two bedroom suite that looks right out onto the water. Most all of the resort is ocean front and with that comes a wrap around front porch with rocking chairs so that you can sit out and feel that island air, and take in the magical views without having to head down to the pool or beach. We love the fact that there is so few people here as it is left up to you to enjoy the serenity of this peaceful resort on your own.. The residents and the few tourists that get to come here will find that folks treat you like family and you will leave with memories to last a lifetime. This resort is for folks that really want to decompress and read a book, walk along one of the very few private beaches( small and quaint) and be left to enjoy the beauty of Key West. Who wouldn't want to sit in the over sized hot tub that is situated right at eye level on the water's edge , and have a cocktail at sunset, making that peaceful or romantic or both. I have been coming to Key West now for 30 yrs and you wont find anything like this anywhere on the island and most folks don't even know it is here , which makes all the more reason to want to be tucked away in this ...
Read moreI arrived at the property and immediately smelt a horrible odor coming from the property that I was willing to let go due to it being on the outside of the property . Once I stepped inside the lobby and smelt the inside of the lobby smelling the same way . I asked an unusual request if I could see the room that I was renting before I checked in . That was between 12:30 pm and 1 . The front desk manager informed me that the room was not ready but will call me and let me know when it was ready . I sat maybe outside for 20-30 mins and the front desk manager informed me that the room was ready and I could look at it . At this time she stated that there was no other rooms available for me to rent if I wanted a different room . This raised red flags for me because why would you say that not knowing whether I wanted to change rooms or not . I just simply requested to view the room before checking in . Walking up to and into the room I smelled a horrible smell of musk , mildew and overall bad smell . I walked into the room that seemed okay but I could not see myself staying here smelling this horrible smell . I invited my 72 year old aunt to come and see the room with me that she paid her portion of the deposit also . She immediately begin coughing and choking on the smell . We couldn’t even get passed the first bedroom before we couldn’t handle the smell of the room . On top of that the beach area was not cleaned or well kept and I truly believe you guys are now scamming people with the pictures and description of this property . I believe the manager choose to put us in this room that she knew had this unbearable smell ! I called back and ask to speak to her and she said that a two bedroom two bath suite mysteriously came available after only being gone off the property for 30/45 minutes . She then stated that she wished I would have said that before I left she could've accommodated me seeing as the rooms can be booked one minute and not booked the next minute due to it being a timeshare . I told her based upon her previous statement of it not being any more available rooms we found a healthier room. She said that the room would be gone if I did not check in . She told me that she would call me after speaking with her manger about returning the deposit on Tuesday at 4 pm . It is now Thursday 7:33pm and I haven’t received one call about the deposit...
Read moreI went to coconut beach resort with my family and stayed one night the 3rd of January, 2019 we drove from Orlando and it was the worst experience in a hotel I ever had. (BEDBUGS) alert! When I first walked in I noticed Pieces of canned corn all over and starburst wrappers on the floor but besides that the worst of all was finding out the beds had (BEDBUGS) went to sleep that night and my daughter woke up with Bedbugs bites all over and also found a live bedbugs on the bed (Pictures to prove it) i put the bedbug into a Kleenex to take to show whoever was in the office that day. I packed up all the things and was disgusted that this hotel actually does not seem to know of the bedbugs Infestation going on. I went to the office and a lady was there I showed her the bedbugs and she Had the audacity to tell me it was a Sand bug If you go on Google and look up a sand bug and a bedbug you would know the difference and what I found was a bedbug. She didn’t even apologize and she said someone would call me, a few days after a housekeeper acting to be the main Management of the entire hotel called me not knowing what she was calling me for and was clueless to what I was saying to her about bedbugs. I had to find the number myself since she did not want to give me the number of the main management and when I did find the number nobody Till this day has bothered to call me back I have even contacted the health department And they didn’t even care to want to listen and to just go online and file a report. I have posted pictures on here to show bites of bedbugs and the bedbugs it’s self! If you stay here Be aware and check your mattresses since the hotel people don’t care to bother. Also check the booklet that is in the rooms it states how they don’t even clean the rooms Properly. If I could give it a zero star I would but it doesn’t let me post without...
