We were really looking forward to trying out their out their lobster roll and melt. We were on a short trip but had missed this place several times in past due to being closed. We were super excited to catch them open. So we had a group with us and were planning to order at least 4 meals and probably drinks. Would have been over $200 with tip probably. But as we we're ordering we told no outside drinks by young lady behind counter. Which makes total sense if it was alcohol. One of us had water, some had cold coffee, and a hot coffee & again no alcohol. Unfortunately because she kept saying no drinks we left. Went to another lobster roll location on other end of the island and walked in with our same drinks and was served politely with NO mention of us not being able to place orders. You may want to rethink your policy, as on a hot day people may have drinks with them. Maybe could have taken order and said i can do take out but can't sit in with own drinks or update to NO alcohol can be brought into the establishment rule. You lost out on over $200 in food purchase, for some $4 coffees. Are you saying if we would have had kids with us and they had juice pouches we wouldn't be served? Rules.may need to be rethought. I could not find any other restaurants we visited during our time in key west after spending thousands in food and drinks during our visit that said you will not be served for bringing in a regular beverage. Maybe no alcohol sure, makes sense. Sad wishing we could have tried! Nobody was bullied, we just left after being told our coffee wasn't allowed. Glad we didn't have kids with their...
Read moreFood was absolutely amazing. The older blond headed woman at the counter was mad because we came in to order a lobster roll at 3:40pm. She then rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders when I turned to see what beers that they had so I could order a beer. She was not nice from the onset of us coming in. It was like we interrupted her trying to leave before closing time. When we received our order we immediately decided to order one more roll. She huffed and said the equipment had been turned off but then said “ok.” It was now 3:50pm ( sign says closing time is 4:00pm) and a group of 11 people walked in to all order lobster rolls and drinks. The woman at the counter hatefully said “ we are closed already!” A full 10 minutes before 4pm. While eating ( still at 3:50pm) the woman came around sweeping and stacking stools and my girlfriend said “ we will be done and out within 5 minutes or so. The woman scoffed at that and went on banging stools. We have been in Key West for 5 days and every place we have been the employees/ owners have been so nice. But not here. The rolls were excellent but I’m sure there are other places just as good that are much nicer and appreciate peoples hard earned dollars. If you close at 345pm please put that on your sign. I’m sure the owner would not approve of losing 500.00-600.00 dollars of business today! Will...
Read moreVisitor from San Francisco California. We drove from Miami to key west and got into town around noon so we were ready for lunch. Googled for a good lunch restaurant and we decided on the Lobster Shack. It's extremely tiny inside with maybe 3 small tables and a longer table in the middle of the tiny house a limited menu that consists of lobster sandwiches, salad, lobster bisque. We decided on the lobster sandwiches. They were truly the best most delicious lobster sandwiches I've ever had. The roll was nice and crispy yet soft with it stuffed full of lobster pieces. Didn't think I would finish one but was so delicious and light we ordered more! After dining at other places in the keys, we decided the Lobster shack had the most delicious and memorable tasting food. The person that took our order was not very personable and seemed like not having a nice day. I asked for recommendations on the menu since it was our first time and she responded without looking at us and saying "everything is good." When our food was brought to us, she just left everying on the table without saying anything we had to figure out what each order was. It was a tad on the expensive side but definitely worth it. I would love to return and make sure I eat there again for the best lobster sandwiches you...
