My family and I arrived at the Alexander Palms Court on a gloriously sunny day, following an exhilarating drive across the Overseas Highway. From Key Largo all the way down to Key West, we were amazed at the beauty of the blue-green water and the splendor of the Keys. Our excitement peaked when we saw the "Welcome to Key West" sign and we couldn't wait to get to our room after spending several hours on the drive down from St. Petersburg.
When we finally got to Alexander Palms Court, I was immediately impressed with how charming and welcoming the entrance appeared. I found the office, nestled to the left of the main entrance. I was greeted by the warm smile of Carol who welcomed me and spent some time annotating a map to show me several highlights surrounding the hotel. Her pride for Key West was apparent and I loved her enthusiasm as she gave me these suggestions.
The Alexander Palms Court has, in my opinion, an ideal location. Being on the more residential and quiet side of the island, you get to feel more like a local. You will also very much appreciate the tranquility of this spot. Rest assured that this is not a sleepy side of town at all, you are still surrounded by quaint shops, great places to eat, and a short walk to beaches. Strolling east on South St, towards Duval, you'll find treasures like The Lobster Shack and a very nice small grocery store and cafe called Ana's Cuban Cafe where you can purchase everything from sunblock to wonderful Cuban coffee. When you get to Duval Street, turn right and a 10 minute walk will find you at Mallory Square, where tourists and locals alike congregate for sunset every day.
We roamed the island on foot, enjoying the beautiful scenery and the sunny weather. Coming back to our room following each outing was a very welcomed respite after a long walk in the June sun. Each time you stroll through that happy gate at the Alexander Palms Court and see that welcoming swimming pool with its cool blue water, surrounded by lush tropical plants and towering palms, you'll feel so happy you chose to stay here.
Every morning, our hosts would provide a pool-side breakfast spread. Coffee, tea, fresh squeezed orange juice, bagels, fresh fruit ... everything needed for a continental breakfast that will fuel your strolls through this beautiful paradise of Key West. My wife and I really enjoyed sitting in this courtyard as we enjoyed our coffee each morning.
Our room was so cozy and comfortable. I've read some reviewers who complained about this place not being updated, providing extreme close ups of caulk or door moldings. These people are obviously not focused on the abundance of charm and beauty that a boutique hotel offers. If you want the ultra-touristy "Holiday Inn" experience, there are many of those on the island. However, if you truly want to stay somewhere brimming with the soul and charm of Key West, do not hesitate to stay here. I can assure you that I plan on staying here when we return to Key West. My wife and I are already planning on a return trip for a longer stay. We love this hotel and we love Key West!
Special thanks to DeVonna, who gave us some great restaurant recommendations. Just like Carol, she beamed with her love and pride of the island. The warmth and hospitality you will feel here is genuine and sincere. I truly cannot wait to return!
Thank you so much, Alexander...
Read moreWe recently retired and booked a two week stay in south Florida. On a whim we decided to go to Key West for a day. As we were getting ready to leave we decided that maybe we should stay for a night and found the Alexander Palms Court on Trip Advisor. We made our reservation and away we went. On the way we received contact from the hotel confirming out stay and providing us with updates on some nearby road construction. |When we arrived at our location it was like walking into a 50's diner. The vibe was so 1960's Key West but the facilities had be modernized. We entered our gated community to be greeted by "whiskey blues" music pool side. So Cool. Remember, this is pre Buffett. |Steve at the front desk greeted us warmly and made us feel so welcome. Everything felt so right. It took about 15 minutes into our stay before I went back to the office to ask Steve if our room was available for a second night. Thankfully it was. |If you are looking for an amazing retro, cool, old-school Key West experience in a meticulously clean, well maintained venue, I HIGHLY recommend you call Steve directly at the Alexander Palms Court. You will not be disappointed. If you are looking for the Best Western or Hilton. Call them. Pool, amazing. Grounds, amazing.|Laid back, everybody get...
Read moreAlexander Palms Court is an absolute gem, and my recent stay there exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was unmatched—Steven, our host, went above and beyond. After a long day of travel, finding a personalized note with my name on it guiding me to my room was such a thoughtful touch and exactly what I needed.||What really stood out was how accommodating they were. We were offered a late checkout (by four hours!), which saved us from having to roam around with all our luggage in the intense Key West heat. That kind of flexibility and care made all the difference.||The property itself is cozy, charming, and impeccably maintained. The pool is sparkling clean at all times, and the thoughtful amenities like a water filter, ice machine, beach towels, and sunscreen make you feel right at home. It’s clear the team has put a lot of love into creating a relaxing and guest-friendly environment.||Location-wise, it doesn’t get better than this. Just minutes from the beach, tennis and volleyball courts, Edward Pier, and of course, the famous Duval Street—you’re right in the heart of it all without feeling overwhelmed by crowds.||This will definitely be my go-to spot every time I’m in Key West.
