We are happy to review this hotel. We have been going to the Keys a few times a year since the mid-nineties, have tried many hotels over the years and settled on CYKW about 12-15 years ago. The other places on the island are nice, but this place is extraordinary in many ways. CYKW is owned and run by hospitality and service pros. The owner, managers, front desk folks, room attendants, bar staff, maintenance people, housemen and concierge. All are super nice and will go out of their way to answer your questions, advise you on where to go and what to see, and help you with whatever you may need. They will see you and greet you by name. We give Marriott 75+ nights a year for many years, but CYKW is the place we keep going back to consistently year after year. Front desk folks are the most important people at any hotel. First and last people customers see on every visit and are there every day and night for you and anything you need. Quite a group of all-stars here. Mary-Ann, Latoya, Kassandra and Pamela staff the front desk most days while Ashwin and Christine are there most nights to help you out. Stop by the Bistro for breakfast and Rosie and Sophie will take care of you and get your day off to a happy start! Ken and Jeff take care of the Tiki bar and are both long term employees that know how to make drinks, keep the pool deck and tables clean, make sure the top sports programming is always on the giant outside TV. Special shout out to Jim and Seon in the maintenance department. I had a mishap with the suitcase and broke the handle off it. It would not survive the flight back, so I had to replace it. I knew TJ Maxx up route 1 a bit sold them but didn't know the size. These two guys ran around to get me a tape measure so I could make sure to get the right size, they helped me dispose of the broken one. The suitcase is back home and getting ready for our next trip to Key West! Be sure to stop by the concierge desk and see Tom. He is an encyclopedia when it comes to things to see and do in Key West and the Keys in general. The most recent addition to the staff here is Mitch. A Key West local character, funny guy full of Key West stories and knowledge and a guy we've known for years in from another travel industry. Best of luck Mitch, you made a great choice in coming to work at CYKW and great choice Michael (GM) for hiring Mitch. He will be an awesome addition to the staff! Thank you everyone at CYKW for another...
Read moreWe had a fantastic time at this hotel for many reasons, but I have to begin this narrative by first mentioning that our first nights stay in Florida at the Courtyard Marriot in Key Largo that was less than exceptional. I have no other place to complain in a direct manner so I’ll say this here. The Key Largo property is substandard in my opinion. I have never, ever stayed in a room where the air conditioning condenser water is drained directly into the bathtub from the ceiling! And the TV reception looked like something out of the 70’s. But since we were only staying there for one night it wasn’t worth complaining. We moved on to Key West the next morning with some trepidation.
We arrived at midday and went in to register knowing that our room probably would not be ready but not wanting to waste any time. We talked to Monica the front desk clerk, who after listening to our story, assured us that we would have a wonderful time and not to worry. We went to the bar outside to wait, soak up the atmosphere and have a cocktail. Kim at the bar was a great person to talk to and gave us advice about an out of the way place to dine that was off the beaten path. That advice turned out to be very good. Our room was soon ready and we got our luggage and went up to our room. After our previous experience we were floored! This room was wonderful. Spacious, with a great view, and with no water being drained into the bathtub from the ceiling. There were also a couple of bottles of water with a hand written note from the manager, Anne, welcoming us to the hotel. What a nice touch! We immediately decided to try to get the room for an additional day and drive straight back to the airport in Fort Lauderdale in one shot. We went back down to the lobby first to ask for Anne to thank her for the note and then to talk to Monica about getting the room for another night. She and the other front desk clerk were trying to help when Anne, who had overheard our request decided to intervene. She hit the computer like she was on a mission. She knew her clientele well as she shuffled around some future guests and made room for us! Then somehow they figured out that my wife’s birthday was the next day and said we would find something in our room. Sure enough, when we got back from a day of fun, there was a bucket with champagne and orange juice to make Mimosas. All of the staff we came in contact with were helpful, courteous, and cheerful. Overall a...
Read moreIt was such an amazing experience! They let us check in early, gave us a crib for my nephew, gave us complimentary drinks while we waited for our room to be cleaned, had a free shuttle, had a secluded beach of their own for us to use rather than taking the time to go to the beach, and also gave us complimentary breakfast after finding out my mother lost her wallet and phone at the airport when we arrived. They are all just genuine people who cared when we were in a bit of a pickle. I know they would have been just as genuine even if my mother’s wallet and phone didn't go missing! I truly wish I knew the names of the lovely ladies who assisted us because I want to give them both a huge shout out for being amazing human beings! They were so kind and accommodating when we arrived. You generally can tell when a person wants to help you because it’s their job and if they want to just because. These girls wanted to just because. Even any other soul that worked there that we ran into. The lovely bartender who served us while we waited was down to earth and easy to talk to. Any of the wonderful guys who drove the shuttles were very kind and never frowned once when they saw the stroller that we had to bring with us for my nephew. Or the cleaning staff who always said hello with huge smiles on their faces when I walked by. Amazing workers all around! Our room was very spacious and clean. There were enough towels for each of us. The beds were very soft (like fall asleep within 5 minutes kind of soft). The comforter was medium thickness, not too thin to where you feel like you do not even have a blanket on you but not too thick to where it is too much. It also had an iron and an iron board which came in handy to get the wrinkles out of my dress before going to a wedding. The shower pressure was very nice. I always have bad experiences with showers at hotels because my hair always ends up greasy because of how low the shower pressure is. Also, you would think being on the first floor is always the worst at a hotel, but honestly, it was amazing at this hotel! I wish I could attach photos to my review to show others how amazing it looked. We had a cute pathway from our balcony doors to the bar, pool, and beach. That really made it super easy to get in and out. Such an amazing hotel! The best experience that I have had yet. Keep up the...
