This whole experience was disorganized and frustrating. We booked the 4-5:30pm tour, and followed instructions to arrive an hour early at 3pm. Most of the others arrived much later and were still filling out paperwork at 4:15. Not a word was said to us while we waited around. The group was very large, too large for how they run things. There were at least 25 people on 17 jet skis on the tour, and 3 tour guides. We finally got a really quick instruction that we could barely hear and started to take off around 4:30. We were instructed to all stay in a single file line, which makes sense. They told us if we run into the trees near the dock, that we can't continue. So what does the lady in front of me do? Runs into trees, and they let her keep going. I spent the first 15 minutes of the tour trying to keep her crazy driving well ahead of me. Then, somehow at the rally point, I end up last in line. Split up from my family, and behind someone really slow. All of the tour guides were waaaaay beyond where we could see them. We had no idea where we were going or what we were going to see. Then I got separated from the group because I had to let a boat pass. The instructor finally came back and told me I was too slow, and I explained that it was the lady in front of me who was too slow, plus the boat. I was comfortable at 25-30 mph. So then the six of us "slow" ones were clearly an annoyance and we just went out into open water and literally saw nothing. There was no tour of any type. The tour concluded at 5:30. The rest of the group was out past 6 and saw all sorts of things, literally going around the whole island. My husband was in that group and said they were required to go at least 50mph (specifically, full throttle) the whole time to keep up, and that it was intense. It would have been better to temper it with periods of slower and higher speeds. He's a fighter pilot, y'all, so that's saying something. Oh, and the tree lady? She was in his group and was a disaster there, too. They made her stay in the back of the line. My frustration with this experience is that they should know there will be different levels of speed and experience and just divide up the group early on. If people don't arrive on time, leave without them. Don't schedule a tour for 1.5 hours when most people will need closer to 2. Don't cut our tour short without actually showing us anything. It felt like if you didn't hang with the bros who work there, then your experience was automatically diminished. I feel I'm being very generous giving two stars here.

I've ridden jet skis around the world (including in the UK, DR, Cancun, Puerto Rico, and Southeast Asia), and honestly, this place wasn't very professional. 1. As seen in other reviews, they're not very friendly to beginners. The guides' mood swings were significant, often shouting and scolding some people, even when they didn't fully understand the reason for some issues (like when someone cut in line, but it was assumed to be another person). They tended to think people were not following rules, ignoring many objective reasons. Although it didn't happen to me, as an experienced rider, I felt very uncomfortable watching this. Emotional intelligence seems to need improvement, making some inappropriate jokes. 2. They asked for tips before the activity started. This is quite amusing. Tips are earned, not coerced from others. 3. The website mentioned we'd stop at a sandbar to swim, but we only stayed near the water surface for a few minutes. Very few photos were taken (specifically, not more than three per person). Did the camera run out of memory? 4. The jet skis were speed-limited. 5. This 'tour' had no commentary, except for the part at the end where they asked for tips. My rental in Miami Biscayne Bay is far more accommodating and has a better machine. That's why they have a 5.0 review.

Unforgettable Jet Ski Adventure with Sunset Watersports! Our Jet Ski tour with Sunset Watersports was hands down one of the highlights of our trip! Guide Jake and the awesome crew — Benny, Ben, and Barrett — made the entire experience top-tier from start to finish. Jake led the tour with the perfect mix of fun, safety, and adventure. He kept the energy high and made sure everyone felt confident and comfortable. Benny, Ben, and Barrett were just as fantastic — super helpful, encouraging, and clearly passionate about what they do. The tour itself was absolutely breathtaking — cruising through the crystal-clear waters of Key West and jumping waves. It was the perfect mix of adrenaline and scenic beauty. If you’re looking for the ultimate way to experience the water and have an absolute blast doing it, book the Jet Ski tour with Sunset Watersports. And if you get Jake, Benny, Ben, and Barrett as your crew — you’re in for the BEST time!

Where do I begin ? I came to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday to the Keys. I read good comments about this company of jet ski rentals and decided to rent. I showed up one hour before the tour started, really excited about it. They make you take the Florida boater education temporary certificate, if you do not pass the test you won’t be able to ride the Jets ski. Be prepared.. they would give you a sheet with all the question and answers .. around 40.. for you to memorize in a few minutes, and then take the test. If you do not pass the test you won’t be allowed to it again if they are about to start the ride and if you paid your money as I did.. previously in my reservation.. you won’t get a refund even though I didn’t do the tour. We missed our 1:30pm tour and waited for the next one to get the test. We got got our certificate done and came back to them at 3:30 for the next ride. They said they were waiting for only three riders to confirm their reservations and show up, if they didn’t we could go and take the tour. They made us wait and we sit in the entrance to wait. At 4pm we never saw anyone new come in to the area and went back to ask if we could ride. They said no. So, we had to go. We spent our day trying to get the jet ski tour and waiting for them. They never refund my money, the three persons in charge there were no helpful at all, the blond one with the curly hair was awful to us and rude, and the other two, like ghosts.. they didn’t exist they didn’t want to be involved. So, we were practically pushed to leave. Do not recommend this place at all. We finally got our tour in other company named IBIS BAY, they were really busy but were super nice and helpful and friendly!! Learn from them SUNSET WATER SPORT !! You are way to far from a good...

Not all bad not all great. We booked a jet ski tour with Sunset which was described as taking you around the island and offering stops at multiple locations including the Southernmost Point, and the Boca Chica Sandbar. The FAQ even mentioned that they would let us get off the jet skis at the sandbar for a quick break. It sounded like a great way to see the island from a different point of view and maybe learn a thing or two about a couple historic sites.

What we got was an hour and 15 minutes spent largely driving around in a single file line with some occasional turns thrown in for fun. We did get to see the Real World Key West House, which was cool, however it was the only stop where the guides gave us any idea of what we were looking at or where we were. The "tour" did not follow the map on the website at all and we only saw maybe a third of the route that the website showed.

Our guides were professional, and did make sure everyone was safe. They also did shuffle people around in the line so that everyone could travel at a speed they felt comfortable. The skis were in reasonably good shape considering they are rentals, and they were able to get to about 45mph..

Overall, not a bad experience, but it wasn’t the tour that was described on the website which was a bit of a disappointment. There wasn’t a lot of value added in the tour, I could have just rented a jet ski, driven around on my own for 2 hours and had arguably the same if not a...
