My family had a nice stay at the silver palms. I am so happy that we decided to switch to this hotel from a much larger hotel located further away from downtown. Not having to drive is a game changer as parking is incredibly tough to find.
First some pros:
This hotel is in a perfect location. Within walking distance to everything or if you don't feel like walking you the duval loop free bus service is just a couple blocks away (what a great service that is; used it several times!)
Morning breakfast is decent, nice omelet station, coffee and a few other things. Nothing fancy, but good enough.
Hotel Staff is very friendly and everyone goes out of their way to help you, open doors, take your trash, anything they see you need help with... they're obviously trained very well in that regard.
The rooms and hotel in general is very clean. All the staff does is clean, all day long.
Some very minor cons:
-Internet is terrible...can't even really search or do emails.....definitely can't stream or do anything complicated. Wasn't a huge issue, but beware.
-Our room did not come with a big corner chair to read/relax like in the photo on the website. There are other places to read such as at the pool, etc. Again, not a big deal, but disappointing.
-There are no recycling bins in the entire hotel, even though everyone else recycles in key west. We ended up taking ours with us.
All I'm all, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would gladly...

Pros: [ ] Bike rentals $55 each for the entire week. [ ] Great location within walking/riding distance to everything [ ] Friendly staff, clean rooms
Cons: [ ] Wifi wouldn't stay connected [ ] Room were dated and had very poor lighting. No hairdryer. [ ] NOT pillow top mattresses as stated online. Beds were hard and extremely uncomfortable. Pillows were very thick & hard. Luckily we brought our own. [ ] AC didn't work properly. It was either freezing or burning up. It's activated by putting your key card into the wall. It was 78 so we turned it down to 68 and during the night we wanted to turn it up to 70 but turning it up, even 1 degree, would turn on the heat and the temp would soon be in the high 70s. So it was always really cold or to hot. [ ] Free breakfast is a bagel, pound cake or fruit loops to go [ ] Construction on the roof and outside all week and during the night was LOUD and annoying [ ] Employees on the roof walking by at random times when we had our blinds open, so we had to keep them closed. [ ] No bar...
Read moreEven though this is considered a 3-star hotel, I highly rate this place in all areas. There are many things about this hotel during my stay here that shows me it's a top-notch place. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially the bartender named Shota who often served my wife and I free fruit while we were relaxing at the pool. He prepared the most perfect pina colada we ever had. The advertised continental breakfast was a lot more than that. It included yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs, muffins, cheese, ham, cereal, orange juice and oatmeal. The coffee was delicious and was a great start to our mornings there. The attention to cleanliness was amazing. One morning, we saw a bunch of workers clean the entire pool area, and even scrubbed down the awning. There was ample parking for our rented car on the hotel premises, an amenity hard to find in Key West. The pool area was very inviting and attractive with many options to lounge around at. The pool had a lovely waterfall feature. They even provided a special chair to lower handicapped people into the pool. How thoughtful is that?! Other great amenities included a Tesla hookup for two cars in the parking lot, guest bathrobes in the hotel closet and bike rentals. Overall, I rate this hotel very highly and the price...
