We stopped into Oasis for a late dinner. The outdoor patio was cute with plenty of fans to keep us cool and geckos and roosters running back & forth.
The staff was very friendly and we had no problems with them, however when we asked about the fried potato with mushrooms and onion appetizer my wife SPECIFICALLY ASKED "are these potato chips?" because she didn't want potato chips. We would have ordered the domas. Our server said "No, they're fried potatos." so we ordered it.
Our server delivered a very tasty piece of bread about the size of a large bagel without the hole. It was slightly toasted and warm. It has some seasoning and sesame seeds sprinkled on it. It was cut into 6 slices and we ate 4 waiting for the appetizer.
Well, a small bags worth of potato chips arrived with 1/4 of a small onion and 2 mushrooms sautéed and sprinkled on top. About 75 cents of ingredients for $12.99. Not the appetizer we were hoping to get. Pan-fried potato cubes with onions and mushrooms tossed with it would have been better. Neither potato, onions or button mushrooms are that expensive to have such a small appetizer cost 13 dollars.
Then the main dish arrived. We ordered the Veggie Pasta Delight. It was thin spaghetti with roasted bell peppers, broccoli, zucchini, onions and a few black olives in a thin red sauce. The roasting on the vegetables was perfect and the sauce had a wonderful flavor! We liked the sauce so much that we asked for a second little round of bread so we could dip in the sauce because it wouldn't stick to the spaghetti.
The problem with the main course is that we got 60 cents worth of pasta and 3 pieces of 4 different grilled vegetables. Not quite the value for $21.99. That's right, $21.99!! Oh, they also charged us $4 for the second bagel sized bread.
Our total bill was $41.90 for one appetizer and one main... without any meat, fish or cheese!!! Honestly, the value simply isn't there. Can't recommend Oasis. Pass...
Read moreI haven't had Khachapuri since the last time I was in Batumi over a decade ago. I've asked places if they have it and never found a place that did. I know I would not get it right so I've never tried to make it myself. But I brought back to the US tales of how tasty it is. My wife has listened to me talk randomly about it for over 8 years now. We moved here over 2.5 years ago. I'm not sure how long Oasis has been open but when I saw, tonight, that they had it on their menu, I knew we were having Oasis for dinner lol All of my ridiculousness aside the food was amazing. My wife got the boneless chicken platter, I got the Chicken Shawarma and, of course, we ordered Khachapuri. We loved every single bite. They didn't make a single misstep with their food. It was top to bottom great. My wife doesn't even like eggs and I insisted she try the Khachapuri and she loves it. Which brings us full circle. I will go back if only for the Khachapuri. I will definitely try other parts of their menu too, but it was every bit as good as when I was introduced to it in that black sea town so long ago. All I was missing was a beer. If memory serves we had Castel. (I've had better beers, to be fair) Sorry for the story, but I definitely recommend Oasis. We will be back. If you don't know what Khachapuri is, do your soul a favor and try it. It's my favorite...
Read moreThe most unpleasant cafe I've ever been to. Terrible food! Never order tabbouleh, Caesar or any type of salad from this restaurant as they aren't washing leaves thoroughly. I gave up on eating here as the waitress came out took our order she had about 4 roaches crawling on her. She just brushed them off like it was nothing. I had to get up and leave this place forever. If you have them crawling on you coming out of the kitchen how bad is it in there?! On top of it her nonchalantly pushing them off trying to take order. She was too comfortable about this. Bathroom is terrible dirty, no soap dispenser. I have observed chefs are prepping food with NO gloves/hats and that's a big NO for any food industry! Table was very greasy. Waitress barely spoke in English and half understood us what type of sauce we wanted. Although I didn't see her belly, she expressed herself being a pregnant and tried to flirt with my husband while receiving an order. Such a weird, dirty place. 0 out of 10! Such a waste of money and time. Health department should really check...
