AVOID! I have stayed in many Florida hotels and B&Bs. I have never given a one-star rating before, and I do not give this one-star rating lightly. It is amazing how just deceiving photography can be, because what was surely once a stately, elegant home has now been turned into an antiseptic, Motel 6 experience. The first floor has been completely cordoned off, and the room provides only the barest of amenities. If you select this hotel, you will be amazed at how much smaller your room will be in real life compared to what you see on your computer screen. For an excess of $200 a night, you will have a room with an inadequate coffee maker and four packets of drip coffee (two regular, two decaf). Your wall will be bare of all artwork, and your room lack any Key West charm. You could be in Anytown USA as a matter of fact. The FINAL straw is that you will be charged $3.00 for bottled water at the vending machine, while the Hemingway Gift Shop only charges $2.00. If you cross the street to visit the check in desk of the Silver Palms Inn (with whom you will be dealing with for check in/check out/continental breakfast) and request a bottle of water…you will be denied. That $1.99 luxury is reserved for only your arrivals and checkouts. If I could give less than one star, I certainly would. Please spare yourself our mistake. For a hotel company that just saved itself it’s $1.99, you will never see my...
Read moreNot a place I would recommend . We got there in the evening and are room was on the second floor . It was just as hot in are room as it was in the hallway coming into the room . I couldn’t believe it . Then we call the front desk and tell them it was hot in there and the a/ c was not working . So they sent a maintenance man over to check the room . He got the a/c to turn on and I told them that I got it to turn on but 7-8 minutes later it blinked 8 times and shut off . II then called the front desk again and told them what was happening and they told me the a/c is working fine it’s just me . Then two people show up to try and make me look stupid and finally realize that it is broken . So they want me and my wife to pack up our belongings and go to there motel 7 and stay there until they get it fixed . Of course not I said if I wanted to stay in a hotel like that I would have stayed at a motel 6 . And plus I spent about $2400 to enjoy a bed and breakfast . Which means in the same building not going across the street to eat at a Howard Johnson’s . Thankfully I did leave the same night and got a refund and we went back home in Daytona . But I’m sorry this is not a real bed n breakfast . I’d advise you to go stay somewhere else . You...
Read moreLe Pensione Inn pretends to be a B&B which, in reality, it is not. Yes, it is a historic beautiful building and you would think that this is where you have your room and service. Nope. The lobby is locked and you are supposed to get your breakfast, or a cup of coffee at the Silverpalms Inn, a motel across very busy Truman ave. The breakfast is Super 8 style basic with nice addition of omelet station where they cook differenr kinda of omelets. They also have a pool you can use. That pool is better than the one at La Pensione which looks like a "concrete hole". This wouldn't have been a big deal had it not been for outrageous $168 "resort fee" charged. I used Expedia service, sorted by price low to high, this one came up at $131, was in the old city and had parking. Wonderful. Well, if it seems too good to be true, it is too good to be tue. With $168 on top, for 3 days it is $197 per nigt. That's before all the taxes. Not impressed for the price. I complained to Expedia for this "bait& switch" tactics and implored them to include fees in the advertised price from the get go - when you search for accomodations. The plus side - room is good, albeit a bit barren,...
