I dunno. The public spaces were cool. Amy, Gustavo, and Eric were very nice, attentive, and helpful. But everything seemed just short of right.
We were there for five nights just this last Thursday through Tuesday. Amy was great at check-in. Due to the pandemic, they would not be servicing the room (except once, if we wanted, because we were staying five nights), which was fine with us (and better for the environment). Except that instead of a body lotion bottle (or who knows what else), there was a conditioner bottle on the vanity… except there are mounted bottles in the shower, so why would there even be conditioner bottles? The pumps on the bottles were tiny ones that required 10 pumps to get something close to what’s needed, and that scent was shockingly masculine (good thing it didn’t stick with me). Maybe other rooms are set up differently, I dunno. And the big bath towels were under the sink instead of out on the bars, which we didn’t go spelunking in until after our first shower. Just short of right.
Other things just short of right: Bathroom door was amazingly warped and stuck, requiring a good couple of pushes to close and making a horrific noise when yanked open; vanity light recessed behind a medicine cabinet/mirror, casting a shadow over the vanity so there was no good lighting for makeup application; no second mirror so we could both get ready or get better lighting; no lighting in the corner shower stall, making it impossible to shave, male or female; small trash cans, but the one in the bathroom had a step-lid that you couldn’t step on and that clanged closed; I believe a close room had the same frequency for the fan remote, unless we had a ghost, because our light & fan would turn on and off while nowhere near the remote; lights out on our balcony and many others (including one set that’s a different style from the others, as you look around from the pool); call buttons by the pool either didn’t work or were ignored (#10 & #9); and a string of lights out at the recently re-opened rooftop bar. Just short of right, everywhere you looked.
It made us realize that the B&B we usually stay at in Key West has thought of all that: makeup mirrors, great lighting, doors open and close, stuff out and obvious where it’s consumed or labeled, they have nice big garbage cans (even when they’re serviced every day), and I’ve never seen a light out inside or out.
I don’t want to sound ungrateful or like I’m complaining. I’m not. It was fine. It’s a pandemic. We all are living differently. It’s a neat hotel. The pool was great. I just think, for the price and hype, there should be much better attention to detail and commitment...

We were a bit underwhelmed when we first arrived and saw the small, quaint entrance, but the second we opened the door we knew we were in the right place.
DETAILS The lobby and bar areas exude decadence & intimacy. The staff is professional but extremely friendly and personable. The grounds and 36 rooms expand well beyond what they appear from the street. The modern, cozy, sexy feel of the hotel continues from the bar & lobby to the pool area and rooms. We were treated to a poolside king room with private patio, thank you to the hotel manager, Bea! The room was lit with soft blue lighting behind the plush white headboard & bed. The wood floors and accents in the bathroom make the room cozy and homey and the large shower tub was great for soaking.
AMENITIES The pool, oh the pool! We spent much of our time lounging here in this quiet, relaxing, adult area. It is not super large, but I think that’s what we liked so much about it. It was never too crowded and the lounge chairs and little wooden cabanas were sublimely comfortable. The sounds of the waterfall and the poolside music were icing on the cake. We aren’t typically the type to lounge by the pool for hours, but at this pool it was different. Breakfast is served either in the nice air conditioned bar area or on the pool adjacent covered patio. As Marriott platinum members, we received a complimentary continental breakfast every morning. This isn’t your standard continental buffet, it’s a sit down, coffee service, fruit, yogurt & granola parfait with your choice of toast and fresh fruit. Perfect start to the day. The last day though, I did opt for something special, the eggs benedict with fried tomato and Cajun hollandaise – absolutely! We also enjoyed the happy hour bites and specialty drink made by bartender Trip who was also a friendly face we saw throughout our stay.
LOCATION As good as it gets! With exits on to Eaton and Duval, we were right in the middle of everything and for anything that was beyond walking distance, the hotel has free bike rentals! It’s a first come first serve policy, but there was never a time we weren’t able to get bikes when we wanted them. And even though you are close to everything, we never heard any sound in our room from the noisy, lively Duval Street.
It was definitely a treat...
