We loved this place! It’s an old house that a sea captain lived in back in early days of Key West and now it’s a museum. It doesn’t take long to see, plus it’s free! And there’s a nice garden in the back where you can just enjoy a bit of shade. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and she also said they have lots of weddings in the garden and my 10 year old daughter hasn’t stopped talking about “getting married at that old house in Key West when I grow up!” The place is full of historical items and artifacts from the old sea captain; it's all just so different than what we see at home - even in other parts of Europe, there are older houses, but this was still special. Read moreI finally visited this museum after walking past many times and not realizing what it was. This is a beautifully preserved home and garden right on Duval Street. It is a non-profit organization that relies on funding from it's amazing gift shop, donations and admissions. Ann-Marie was working when I visited and we shared many conversations about her history in Key West as well as extensive knowledge of the home/museum. I was also lucky enough to meet Barbara, the curator and learn a bit more about the history of the house, which is fascinating.
Please stop in and support this beautiful piece of Key West history. It's worth the low price of admission and the gift shop has many irresistible treasures from local artists you won't...

He had great stories and answered all of our questions. He made the visit absolutely awesome. I would definitely recommend this stop...
