EDIT: I won't be changing my review as I believe the information is relevant but their corporate office is refunding me the majority of my stay after I contacted them from their webform. If I don't receive that refund I will be back to post about that too.
Edit 2: I received the check from corporate in the amount of $208.67. Much more than I asked for which was just to refund the parking charge, but I do appreciate them trying to make it right. I hope that corporate gives this specific hotel some attention to fix the problems I mentioned, but in the future I will still consider a Hilton due to the good service from their corporate office.
It's not the worst place I've ever stayed but it's definitely more on a motel level than a hotel level and I can't recommend staying here. At the very least all of my local friends and family know how bad this hotel is and we had a good laugh about it. It was my mistake that I picked this hotel on a nonrefundable rate before seeing the one my cousin had recommended
Problems Charged $15 a day for parking which was an undisclosed fee. The hotel never even verified that I parked there nor is this fee reasonable given the location. Still working to get this refunded. Charged $5 a day for reliable internet in an area with high speed internet, this is a nickel and dime charge My room had dust and stains on the floor, walls, ceiling, and furniture Parts of walls, the shower tile, and the flooring was in a fairly miserable state of disrepair and/or installed incorrectly My nonsmoking room had a clear cigarette burn in my comforter The bedroom area part of my suite didn't have a door lock My bedroom area HVAC was not functioning correctly and I couldn't get the bedroom to the desired temperature with the fan running I wish I had known there was no tub and it was just a large shower the shower handle was not screwed in all the way and was loose The shower nozzle was crooked and full of calcium deposits There was one small trash can with a bag for a suite that is supposed to function as an apartment the view of an empty dirt lot full of trash wasn't great
I was only in town for 2 nights and didn't want to risk a confrontation and probably wouldn't have even posted a review, I only took pictures to laugh at them with my cousins, but when I checked out and saw $30 in parking charges after I already got nickel and dimed $10 just to get internet that would load Netflix, I decided it was worth mentioning and warning others about. I have no idea how this hotel has 4 stars.
I'm still in the process of trying to get those charges refunded. I have no idea if room 303 was just bad luck or if the whole hotel is looking this bad, but I will say the carpet in the regular areas is showing obvious signs of wear too. To be quite honest this Hilton feels like if another Hilton was remodeled and all of the almost trash parts of that better Hilton were sent...
Read moreI recently had to book a night at this hotel even though I am a local to Lancaster. While there, I stayed in a handicapped room because I am disabled. I did like that the room was very nice and had everything I needed for my stay - a comfy bed, clean sheets, free WiFi, a small refrigerator, and a clean and accessible bathroom and shower. The staff were very nice and even called my room soon after I had checked in and gotten settled to ask if there was anything they could get me.
A small issue that I would fix is the directions given to guests staying in the handicapped rooms for how they can get to their rooms. The route to get to my room that my caregiver and I were given by the person at the front desk took us down a series of long, winding hallways that was difficult to navigate with myself carrying my bags and my caregiver having to juggle my walker while pushing me in my wheelchair. Only when a maid who was cleaning rooms saw my caregiver struggling and offered to help us (big kudos to her for helping; I wish I had gotten her name, but she was a godsend at the time) were we told that there are two more direct routes to the room that we could've taken (one via a shorter hallway straight from my room's door to the lobby and one via an outside door right next to my room that opened directly to the parking lot [which was actually a very convenient access route and is what we used thereafter]).
I know that many hotels position their handicapped rooms as close to the lobby as they can for better guest accessibility. While this hotel didn't do that, I actually appreciated that their handicapped room I stayed in was next to an outside door (maybe 3 steps from my room's front door to the outside door) so I could be taken to and from my car without having to be wheeled through the lobby every time. It just would've been nice if the front desk receptionist had pointed us to that route or even the direct hallway access to my room when we checked in. But that is something that is easily fixed and once rectified shouldn't impact future guests staying at this hotel.
That said, overall, I was very pleased with my stay. While it was a short stay, I would've been very comfortable staying here longer if my plans had warranted it, and I'll definitely be back to stay at this Homewood Suites if the need...
Read moreGood Evening, I hope this post helps others to tip the scale for the difficult choice of where to stay for relaxation. My loving partner and I travel often and I was born from a city of upmost hospitality, Las Vegas. I have worked as a housekeeper and gradually veered into communications and guest service positions soon after, where I really blossomed in my niche. I’m happy I progressed through the hotel industry, because it taught me the core values from a young age to always appreciate every single employee whom is actively making my stay feel as comfortable as if I were in my own home. Consuelo, is a reflection of your loving mother and may nestle any concern you have with nourishing and delicious 😋 food. Maria, will welcome your family and make sure they’re provided with every amenity that you may need. Every single housekeeper has a beautiful smile and excellent work ethic, this is important. Just as their warm cookies 🍪 fill your tummy up with glee; as does their staff whom rejoice in their wonderful work environment and are more than ready to share with you any assistance at all. I applaud Homewood Suites by Hilton in Lancaster, because setting the bar high, does not simply imply luxurious room features. To feel rejuvenated and rewarded, try Frontline Fitness which is an incredible gym that allows all hotel guests to use free of charge and rewards your body with tough love. Their generosity to provide a warm free breakfast and an evening social dinner is also a real treat!
I respect their craftsmanship in Hospitality and wish their staff a Happy New Year and many blessings! There is no debate or question in my mind; I will always choose to stay here when we are visiting this...
