We spent our honeymoon weekend, or “mini-moon,” at The Nantucket Inn. We stayed in suite #2, which included a fabulous private hot tub outside on the ocean-front deck. The hot tub was absolutely fantastic. You could sit back, and the edge of the hot tub looked like it was right against the ocean waves. The suite was beautiful and spacious. We were pleased to have a full-size refrigerator and microwave, plus a small coffee maker.
There were many issues with communication, however. Meredith Lodging took over managing this property between the time we made the reservation and the date of our stay. The previous management company offered lovely honeymoon options like champagne, rose petals, and chocolates. I contacted Meredith Lodging after they took over to ask if they offered anything similar. I was willing to pay extra to make it special. Their response was abrupt and uninspiring. “No, we don’t do anything like that. We could put a bottle of wine in the room if you want.” Not exactly enthusiastic, but I thanked them and said we would appreciate that. Upon check-in, there was no bottle of wine, so apparently they forgot. Issues continued from there. The hot tub was pad-locked with no instructions anywhere for how to unlock it. We called; no answer on the phone, so we left a voicemail, sent a text, and sent an email. No response, so we called again. Finally, we were told there was a numeric code for the pad-lock. I checked my “welcome text” but found no code. The representative said it was probably emailed to me. I searched through the many emails I received from Meredith Lodging, as well as the “guest portal,” but there was no hot tub code. They sent the code to me by text, and we were able to unlock the hot tub, but this was not a pleasant start to our weekend. Then there were annoying things like a coffee pot in the room but no coffee, so we had to go to the grocery store in the morning to buy coffee grounds. It’s fine to not provide coffee, but it should be clearly communicated. If you advertise a kitchenette with coffee maker, many guests will mistakenly understand this to mean that coffee will be provided. There were wine glasses and coffee mugs but no other dishes or utensils, except paper bowls and plastic utensils which previous guests left behind, fortunately for us. When we needed the Wi-Fi password, again, we had to call. It was nowhere in the room, nowhere in the correspondence from Meredith Lodging, and nowhere that I could find in the “guest portal.” Finally, the jetted bathtub in our bathroom did not appear to work. We could use the shower, but we could not figure out how to fill the bathtub. I called (again), and the only way they could help was to send a maintenance worker.
Overall, communication was by far my biggest issue with our stay. We were only there two nights but had to call for assistance multiple times both days. The last thing you want on your honeymoon is constantly talking to staff members or having maintenance come to your room. We were offered things that we never received, and were unable to use all the amenities. The private, ocean-front hot tub saved our weekend, but I think Meredith Lodging has room for improvement in managing...
Read moreNice room, good location, high expectations, disappointed.||It doesn't take a lot to take a basic room to the next level as a great destination. Service was so-so. The girl at the front desk of the Starfish Manor was pleasant, but when I asked how to get to the Nantucket Inn, she didn't know. When I called and told them my pillows were so hard I had the worst sleep I can recall, they said they didn't have any softer pillows. The card in the room said there was no ice machine and there was no offer that we could get ice at either of the sister properties. Little things, I know, but they add up.||When there's a sink, microwave, and refrigerator, there should probably be more than a pair of glass coffee mugs. A few plates, some basic silverware, a few other glasses. Why have a café table and a large window only to use it as a night stand and bury it in the corner? Moving around furniture isn't that hard, but the wobbly chair made for a better night stand and allowed us to place the table where it could be accessed by 2 and actually used to eat at. Again, little things, but they matter.||It's great to have a huge bathroom, but if it's freezing cold it's not a pleasant room to be in. Heat lamps look like they're generating some heat, but they don't and hard tile floors only exacerbate the issue. Pedestal sinks look good, but if there aren't any shelves of some sort, there's no place to put a toiletry bag. Small toilets in large rooms not only look cheap and out of place, but don't recognize male anatomy and speak to a callous disregard.||It's nice to have a large closet, but it would help to augment that with more than 4 hangers or possibly a small dresser or set of shelves in part of the closet to provide some storage space. Having one suitcase stand helped a bit, but we had two bags and didn't have any place to put clothes. It may be unreasonable to expect a host to recognize that guests want to have access to their attire, but that's why we're overall disappointed. ||In this age where huge televisions are available to just a few hundred dollars, having a 24" TV is out of sync with market realities. Peeling paint also makes the place seem neglected and there's no logic to the lights that weren't on in the dark stairwell leading up to Unit #5 except for late one evening. There must be a switch somewhere, but we never found it.||Overall, it was an OK place, but if your expectations are for "Most bestest ever", "Cozy Beach Getaway", or "A jewel stumbled upon" you should probably adjust your expectations. We'll keep looking for...
Read moreMy mom and I stayed in the Nantucket Inn unit #1 this last weekend and had a very unpleasant stay to say the least. First of all, they let us know last minute that our hot tub was out of commission. secondly, as I walked through the house I immediately noticed rust on the curtain rods, like a lot of rust. There are no curtains in the kitchen so everyone on the beach can look through at whatever you're doing in the kitchen along with the neighbors. The furniture was torn and falling apart. You could not even use the kitchen door to get outside on the porch. The WORST part was during our first day there the ceiling had significant water damage and was leaking so bad that when we came back from dinner our kitchen floor was flooded. I called Meredith lodging and got ZERO help and was told the maintenance guy would be right over. The Maintenance guy showed up later the next day to bring us a bucket and said that the property owners have "unsuccessfully" fixed this issue. Why would you actively have guests staying in a place that is clearly falling apart and unsafe for people to stay in and then not attend to the issue at all? If this has been an ongoing problem, why were we not informed of this and accommodated? We would have never rented this place knowing what we know now. The ONLY decent part of this property was the view, otherwise I will never rent this place or from Meredith lodging ever again. I still have yet to speak to a manager and get a refund as we spent over $1000 to stay in a place that is literally falling apart. I am very unsatisfied and will never recommend this company or property to anyone. They clearly do not care about their property or guests, they only want your money. Please choose wisely and make sure there is no issues with your rental before staying. These people need to be shut down. I have videos and pictures of these concerns so management can't deny their faults. Take responsibility for your business...
