Sandwiched between buildings belonging to the Seahorse Hotel, this overlook and beach access point has beautiful views. They're even better if you go part way down the long, steep staircase so you can take in the view without the large buildings blocking half of the view. It's nice that there is a bench at the top of the access, because it's a long, arduous, and painful walk up and down them if you have arthritis or some other mobility issue. There is no wheelchair ramp or elevator for wheelchair users. Then again, with the stairs terminating straight onto the sand, such niceities would be a useless and expensive endeavor unless the city ever decides to build a deck large enough to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and perhaps a bench. The sand at the bottom of the stairs is soft and deep. Great exercise walking through it, but miserable for arthritics, and just plain impossible for wheelchair and walker users. Thankfully there is a drive down access a few blocks south of this access , enabling anyone with a clue about driving in sometimes deep sand to get straight onto the beach and enjoy it while walking on the beach and exploring the tide pools at low tide, or merely sitting in the comfort of your own vehicle. While I enjoy the view from the Oceanlake access point, I can only enjoy it from the top, as my arthritic knee and hip make taking the stairs onto the beach extremely painful, and functionally impossible. I'll stick to other access points if I actually want to walk...

If you access from the Seahorse youâll have quite the hike up and down the stairs but youâre in nature, basically exercising anyway, so what are a few stairs gonna hurt?
It appears you get the most beach space in the morning or late afternoon.
