We are long-time World of Hyatt members and almost exclusively stay at Hyatt properties during our travels. In the past, we’ve had great experiences at both the Hyatt Regency Long Beach and Hyatt House Manhattan Beach when visiting Los Angeles.||Unfortunately, our recent stay at Hyatt Place LAX for our daughter’s wedding was one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had at any Hyatt property.||We discovered a bed bug in our room. My wife noticed it on her scarf, which had been hanging on the wardrobe door. We killed the bug and brought it up to the front desk immediately. The staff acknowledged this was unacceptable and assured us a manager would follow up and that Hyatt would “take care of it.” They mentioned possibly drying our clothes to prevent further issues.||We were moved to another room, which we immediately found dirty and also noticed other bugs (not bed bugs) on the pillows. After reporting this, the hotel sent an employee to inspect, who confirmed the bugs in both the first and second rooms. We were then offered a third room, but the same employee checked it first and found it dirty as well. Finally, a fourth room was inspected and confirmed clean, so we moved there.||Despite all this, no manager ever contacted us during our stay, there was no follow up on drying the clothes. To make matters worse, all elevators were out of service on Saturday evening, forcing all guests to use the stairs after approximately 8 PM. There were fire alarms going off during two of the nights we were there.||On Sunday, as we were checking out, I spoke with the front desk and was informed that Maria, the front office manager, had been on-site Saturday but “must have forgotten” to reach out regarding the bed bug issue. She was unavailable and would not return until Tuesday, after our departure. The front desk employee also said he was unable to assist further, stating that “everything is closed today”. He mentioned that he sent an email out to Maria and other managers and that I would get a call back on Tuesday . Unfortunately Maria has yet to call me.||Adding to the disappointment, parking was another frustration. The hotel uses a neighboring airport parking structure that normally charges $23/day, but booking through Hyatt adds a steep $52.80/day for in-and-out privileges.||Between the bed bug incident, repeated cleanliness issues, lack of managerial response, and overall poor handling of the situation, this stay fell far below Hyatt standards. I strongly recommend that management address these issues immediately, and I urge future guests to consider other Hyatt locations or nearby...
Read moreThis was my first and likely my last stay at a Hyatt Place. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several important areas, especially when compared to my previous stay at the Sheraton Getaway next door.
One of the biggest surprises was the $100 per night security deposit. For example: a 5 night stay would mean $500 upfront, something that was not clearly communicated during the booking process. If this policy is mentioned on Hotels.com, it’s certainly not made prominent. At the Sheraton, no such deposit was required, which made this feel excessive and misleading.
The room doors throughout the hotel slam loudly and echo in the halls, especially at night. Combined with poor soundproofing and constant airplane noise, uninterrupted sleep was nearly impossible. Strangely, I didn’t experience this issue at the Sheraton, even though it’s right next door.
The Wi-Fi connection was inconsistent and often unusable during the evenings, precisely when I needed it most. It frequently disconnected or slowed to the point of being unusable for even basic browsing.
The mini fridge was entirely stocked with overpriced items, leaving no space for personal use. Even the bottled water on the desk came with a price tag. It felt like basic amenities were being monetized in an unreasonable way.
The in-room AC unit was noisy. It cycled on and off all night, further disrupting sleep.
Surprisingly, there was no microwave in the room or even on the upper floors. The only available microwave was on the ground floor in a small shop area. Having to take an elevator every time I wanted to heat something up was inconvenient and impractical for an extended stay.
Upon check-out, I was told my deposit would be refunded within 5–6 days. After 9 days with no refund, I contacted customer service, who informed me there had been a system error and that I should receive it in another 5-7 days. When that didn’t happen, I followed up again and was told I’d now need to wait up to 30 days for the refund. As of now, I’m still waiting. This level of miscommunication and delay is unacceptable, especially from a brand like Hyatt.
Hyatt Place did not meet my expectations, especially considering the price point and brand reputation. Between the noise, lack of clarity around fees, and poor customer service experience, I can’t recommend this property, particularly when there are better options, like the Sheraton Getaway, about 5 mins away...
Read moreWow! What a beautiful hotel! I was so impressed with it. It was so nice I wanted to stay a bit longer to enjoy it lol||1. The Room|I was in a double bed room and there was so much space! The room was spotlessly clean and had nice, upscale finishings so it felt like I was staying in a real upscale place. Overall, the room was impressive. ||There were lots of towels, shower gel, soap, tea/coffee making facilities, a TV, clothes hanging area etc. ||2. The Hotel|Beautiful hotel, lovely spacious lobby with beautiful palm trees outside and a nice little closed off fireplace, nice restaurant and a 24 hour shop. The hotel itself looks beautiful and upscale. ||The rooftop pool & jacuzzi were great! The jacuzzi was so relaxing with powerful jets. I stayed at the hotel when it was very warm and sunny in LA so being in the pool and jacuzzi felt great. ||The service at the hotel was great too, very helpful, friendly and professional. I felt very welcome and valued there. ||There was complimentary breakfast included in the room rate, and the breakfast was nice. Not the best I've had but it was good enough to keep me satisfied. There was bacon, eggs, potatoes, porridge, yoghurt, toast, juices etc...lots more. It was nice. ||3. The Shuttle|The shuttle was regular, it left and arrived from the back of the hotel. I didn't have to wait longer than 5 minutes for it to arrive. However, the hotel staff said it runs every 15-20 minutes. So I got there at a good time. ||4. The Restaurant|The food in the restaurant was good, but a bit pricey. I think $25 for burger and chips is a lot but I guess that's how it always is at hotel restaurants. ||5. Location|The hotel is in the LAX airport area so there's not a lot to do of course but there are quite a few places to eat nearby. There's a Starbucks in the nearby hotel, and there's another Starbucks, plus a McDonald's, Carls Jr and Denny's about a 10-15 minute walk down the road. ||As there was not much to do in the area, I took an Uber to Venice Beach and enjoyed by afternoon/evening there. It took about 30 mins by Uber and cost around $30 one way. I thought it was good to get to go somewhere nice from the hotel that wasn't too far. ||OVERALL:|I think the hotel was definitely 5/5. I enjoyed my stay there and felt like everything was great - the service, the room, the amenities, etc. I would definitely stay here again if I needed to stay in...
