H Hotel disappointing, dishonest sales I booked a superior k suite with airport view specifically for airport viewing. However, the H Hotel room design and service meant that we were very disappointed and wasted money on this room. I reported the various problems to Liz at the front desk immediately after check in. She indicated that she could care less and was not interested in fixing or compensating us for the H Hotel’s failures to honor its adverted premium room and higher price. The problems are: a. Dirty windows: Please see the two photos below. The airport could not be easily viewed since we had to look around the filth on the windows to see anything. All views were blurry due to grime inside and outside on the windows: enlarging the photos will show the grime and blurry view out of the windows. Photos are not possible. The filth is also obvious in the photo below. b. Blocked windows: The rooms has a total of 8 windows. 50% of the windows are blocked by black out curtains- in other words the airport can not be seen. Please see photo of how I had to move curtains to gain some view using the only chair in the room: This was the only way to at least peer through the obvious filth on the windows blocked by the curtains. The far-left windows was blocked by the same type of curtain and a metal beam. The far-right curtain was also blocked by the curtain. Total 50% of windows blocked by curtains. This room is sold and priced higher for airport view but the hotel has blocked the views. c. The far-left window is also blocked by a steel beam that had been added to the hotel structure for advertising. This further blocks the view of the south runways at the time of touchdown. 747s usually use the south runway so the view of the 747s is blocked. d. Two more windows were blocked by a large tv. Please see photo. 747s usually use the south runway so 747 views are blocked. This blocks the south runway views:

Two more windows with view blocked by the large tv. The tv can not be moved. The large desk also blocks getting access to the windows. The whole rooms is designed wrong despite being sold at a higher price for the supposed airport view.

This meant that 6 out of 8 windows are blocked. So much for paying a high price for the “airport view”. e. The overall design of the room is a failure. The H Hotel staff has completely failed to maximize the value of their location. Other airplane spotters with whom I talked said their rooms were also in the same condition with blocked and dirty windows. f. When I reported these room failures and deliberate degrading of the room value to Liz at the front desk she was obviously not interested. At a minimum I would expect a price reduction since the hotel has failed to honor the condition of the advertised room. Liz failed to take any action. The only other recourse is to file various complaints with Hilton corporate and post the photos and condition of the room on media. The H Hotel will lose more business since I am posting this report than if they had taken action to compensate us for the poor condition of this room. g. Finally, the faucet is the bathroom sink is improperly installed resulting in flooding of the countertop after each use...

Unfortunately this is the first Hilton location in a very long time that I ended up pretty unhappy at. I'm not sure how the other Hilton locations fare in the same area (LAX), but I am certain I'll try them next time instead of chancing the Curio.

The rooms were ultimately very nice. High ceilings, tiled bathroom, his/her sink, great lighting, in room couch, and huge sweeping windows.

Evevators were pretty neat. You scan your room card and press the floor you need--no buttons in the elevator. Promotes a nice sense of security.

The room service tech was also cool. You press a button to alert staff when you need something or want to be left alone, as indicated by a green or red light outside your door.

Access to additional food options are available, including coffee, donuts, and even a Subway.

We had breakfast once at the on-location restaurant and our waitress, Yumi, was absolutely fantastic. In fact, her service and chipper attitude was probably the best part about our stay.

Staff seemed very ambivalent towards myself and my fiance, almost as if we were a burden. Information about the hotel wasn't told to us upon check in such as cards being turned off to access elevators after a certain time, even if you requested late check out. The food & beverage credit is extremely awkward and wasn't explained well either. Everything also seems locked down, from the front door to the bathrooms, which makes me wonder what kind of horrors are seen at night.

Diamond Member status meant nothing during the trip. Despite booking months in advance and having the Diamond Desk make note of a room upgrade, we recieved a basic room--period. I was actually shuffled away from the Hilton Honors desk to be checked in at the busier main desk after watching two groups of honors members check in there. No thank you's or mentions of any type of membership. The breakfast credit should apply to your entire stay, not just what is charged per day. No waters upon check in. I had high expectations for the price of a Curio Hotel and was let down entirely.

It seemed that our fridge was defrosted right before entering, leaving a pretty unfortunate puddle in the middle of the room carpet.

We arrived before check in time and thought we'd just wait out time in the bar and have a few drinks and lunch. The restaurant is actually only open for breakfast between 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM and doesn't open again until 5:00 PM. Those hours are absolutely bonkers, considering the amount of travelers coming in at all hours of the day. Sure, I'd expect limited services after 11:00 PM - 5:00 AM but in nothing in the middle of the day?

Room neighbors can get pretty loud at night. You'd think the planes would have woken us up but instead it was loud, thumping music, jeers, and laughter from rooms adjacent...

Please AVOID this place. Don't be blinded by the positive reviews. The price is expensive compared to other choices nearby but the service there is horrible. The stuff is not trying to help you to solve your problem and they are very rude and not professional. We thought it would be a great experience before we flied to LA. But the nightmare just begins after we arrived.

Shuttle bus service is TERRIBLE. Actually, the hotel is only 5 minutes drive from the airport. The hotel declares that they have 24 hours shuttle buses. Okay, thats cool. We trust them and end up spending one hour waiting in the airport for a 5 minutes drive shuttle bus. The first bus arrives after about 20-minutes waiting. But it is very small (around 10 people I guess) and it has been already quite full and it seems like this shuttle bus is serviced for multiple hotels. We are not able to get-in. The driver said that there will be another bus coming shortly but we waits for another 20 minutes. This bus arrives fully and it doesn't even stop at the terminal we wait at. We were very disappointed at this time but we have no other choice but keep waiting since we have already spent so much time. Then another 20 minutes and finally get to the hotel. During the time when we were waiting at the airport, we saw no less than 8 buses from some hotels like Hilton and Hyatt.

When we thought we could check-in and take a rest after a long journey, another terrible things happened which finally drove us to cancel the reservation. Since our flight takes off at near midnight, so we want to find a hotel that allows us do a late check-out at around 6pm with some extra charges. We double check this with the hotel stuff when we make the reservation. They said that we can do it when check-in with extra 90 dollar charges. But when we check-in, they said that we are not allowed to do that beforehead and we are only able to do the late checkout if the hotel is not fully booked at checkout day. This is saying thst we have to wait until the last day. They ONLY think about make more money but not their customers. As a comparison, another hotel we lived afterwards has a clear policy that we can do either 2pm and 7pm late check-out.

Price is very expensive. We book two rooms for three nights which cause us 1200 buckets, but other hotel like Hyatt (the one we lived afterwards) only cost 800+.

Please avoid this hotel if you are considering the hotel near the airport. There are plenty of better choices nearby with cheaper price and...

The elevators have a faint sewer odor. Hadn’t been on vacation for 10yrs, decided to treat myself to weekend at the beach, flew in from Texas. Arrived at night, slept well, got up pressed the to have housekeeping change the bedding and called front desk to ask for toilet paper. There was none underneath the sink. Toilet paper was never sent, went hunting and found a housekeeper in the hallway who told me there shouldve been some, I reiterated that there was none. She gave me some. Caught a Lyft to the beach. Came back, housekeeping never came to provide new bedding. Due to our beach time we tracked sand in. We took showers and decided to go back out for dinner, stopped by front desk, informed of the sand and also asked for housekeeping to place new bedding on the beds and that the tv was “unprovisioned” it was not working. I informed that we would be out for a few hours and if asked if this could be taken care of. Came back to the tv still not working and bed sheets were left on a chair. I went downstairs and asked if it was procedure for the guests to change their own bedding, and was told that it depends on if it was requested the day before or not. I couldn’t ask a day before because due to the storm we had a 3 hour layover in Las Vegas which caused us to arrive after 1 am. Coming from Texas and a 3 hour layover to switch planes was brutal and it wasn’t offered by front desk when I arrived. I checked in online and picked the key up at the front desk. Why wasn’t i informed of the housekeeping process then? I asked if he would please send someone to change the bedding and that the tv was still not fixed. Very kind lady came and changed the bedding. I tipped her. The tv was never fixed and whomever it was that came in left it on the screen showing in the picture. I still don’t understand why housekeeping procedure is to the bedding was left on the chair if the guest doesn’t ask for housekeeping the night before. Also, this Hotel would benefit from having a hot tub, for when it’s too cool to swim in the pool. There’s no visual aesthetics with the pool area furniture or set up at all. Looks like a pool area at a rehab facility.

To put my review in perspective, I travel for work and mainly stay in Hilton properties(~75-100 nights/year for the past 5 years). Having stayed in nearly all of the Hilton varieties from the Tru to Hampton inn to Hilton to Curios. I chose this hotel for a few reasons, it was close to LAX(as are a few other Hilton hotels) but mainly because it was our honeymoon trip and I wanted to show my wife another Curio hotel(as we experienced on the Ashville NC that was fantastic) as a good way to end our honeymoon trip to Japan. Pros: -As a diamond member we got free breakfast(more on this in the cons) - It was a free shuttle away from LAX, it ran every 20-30 minutes. - Rooms were quite large and spacious with nice blackout curtains - Walk in shower* with dual vanities Cons: - Continental Breakfast cost $17 per person and was literally 2 pieces of regular sourdough bread, ~5 strawberrries, maybe a dozen blueberries, a cup of regular coffee and orange juice. *See attached picture* Hampton inn hotels give this breakfast away for free..plus more, this was the worst part of this hotel, embarrassing breakfast and pricing for a Curio especially in a city like LA. - The LA "protection" fee was not included in the quoted rate with points, the Hilton app/website does not say that the fee is not included when paying with points which leads most people to think its included especially when the website says "Total for stay" when checking out with no mention of the fee needing to be paid at the hotel. Most hotels dont charge the resort fee if you pay with points. - Again, could be an LA thing but water pressure in the shower was very weak which essentially turned 5 minute showers into 10 minute ones. - To be expected of a hotel that faces the runway, the planes are loud especially those landing. Luckily they do stop at some point during the night. As a generally summary, stay at one of the other Hilton properties nearby. There are several that are accessible by free shuttle to the airport, are cheaper, offer much better breakfast value, will be quieter and most of those properties dont charge the protection fee(I just checked).
