Costero Bistro is located inside the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, they offer American fare with cocktails in a modern setting. We were a party of 6 and decided on lunch and dinner at the hotel. The great thing about being a bigger party is trying all the food. Sadly, during lunch because of the quantity of the food ordered, the quality had gone down. Lunch Barbacoa Nachos – 1/5 Came out first but the meat was cold, it was terrible Fish and Chips – 2/5 Boxed not fresh, missing the coleslaw that I saw on another pic. Barbacoa Tacos – 3/5 needed more seasoning Soy Glazed Salmon – 4/5 Only thing that came out steaming hot. Texas BBQ Burger – 3/5 too much BBQ sauce, fries were cold. Pasta Primavera – 3/5 not bad for a vegetarian dish Lunch rate 3/5 Dinner Old school Taco Salad – 4/5 delish, can add chicken but not steak Wild Mushroom pizza – 5/5 simple and delicious Spicy Italian Pizza – 4/5 came out hot but a bit salty Hawaiian BBQ Pizza – 4/5 Nice sweetness and tang Cesar Salad – 3/5 typical Simple green salad – 3/5 over dressed (Vinaigrette) – remember to ask for dressings on the side Dinner...
Read moreOur waiter was working really hard and he was super nice so he gets 5 stars. The food is average at best. I had Buffalo wings which tasted like they were cooked last week and sat in a walk in fridge for days before being re-heated and served to me 👎🏼My husband had the special which was a ramen soup- it wasn’t great and was disappointing. We also had beef nachos. They were ok but they’re nachos so pretty hard to mess up. The guacamole was terrible tasting and a weird dark color. Pretty sure it came from a package or it was old. It would take minimal effort to make these items a lot better. Make some fresh guac or throw some sliced avocado on the side and a lime wedge. Add some fresh ginger or use a better quality broth for the ramen to make it more flavorful. It takes 8-10mins to cook fresh chicken wings…. I’m 99% certain if you told a customer the wings are cooked fresh & take a little longer - they would be more than happy to wait. Our son is gluten free (not celiac) & the barbacoa nachos...
Read moreThe menu was pricey, but not out of bounds for an airport hotel restaurant in California. Food was filling, drink selections were good, service was great. The reason I’m leaving a 1 star review is that they practice “mandatory tipping” which I’m just now realizing is an illegal practice according to CA SB 478. Don’t get me wrong, I would’ve left a tip on my own, but I was shocked after I sat at the bar for 45 minutes, had a quesadilla and 2 beers ($39 according to the menu), and my ticket had me on the hook for about $60. There was nothing posted at the bar, in the restaurant, or in the menu about this place practicing mandatory tipping. According to the law, restaurants should have price transparency and factor those sorts of things into their menu prices. I basically got scammed because I’m an out-of-towner staying at an airport hotel and don’t know any better. Don’t let the...
