This hotel didn't provide any relaxation of being on Vacation!! We stayed 4 nights and moved our room 3 [YES THREE] times. The first room was EXTREMELY run down, Toilet seat didn't even fit on the toilet. It was stained. Bed was so hard, I would have slept better in our Jeep. Parking lot was more than half roped off as they decided to maintain the parking lot during a very popular event, WNC Jeep Fest weekend. So not many spaces left for parking!!! Especially with a handicapped wheelchair and medical equipment. We have a disabled child, we travel heavy with luggage due to her needs. They then put us UPSTAIRS....and the ELEVATOR went down. So how do we transport or get back down to safety???? They didn't even seem upset or compassionate what so ever. They said they had NO rooms downstairs. My husband stepped in, and suddenly they found one! So during the parade we had to miss it to move ALLLLL our belongings again!!! The King suite wasn't a suite but definitely had more room as opposed to the 2 Queen. Communication between staff was horrible as one Saif this, and the other said that. One lady said she was only there a week. I'm positive it's against ADA Compliance to have a 2 story building with handicapped rooms UPSTAIRS and a NON working elevator! It was like no big deal. No rush to fix it. Our daughter is not only non ambulatory, but medically fragile special needs. Our stay here was extremely stressful. We definitely...
Read moreThe elevator did not work. In fact, was told it had not worked since Hurricane Helene 10 months ago!! Come on, do better Quality Inn!! That is a visitor spot with mostly older adults and y'all are too cheap to repair the elevator. Shame on you and extra shame for not stating that up front before I booked our stay.
After checking in and paying, we were waiting for a rain storm to pass in our car in order to unload when I received a call from the front desk stating " someone was willing to change rooms with us." I agreed, thinking how nice. Shame on the desk clerk for lying to us! No one just walked in to change with us. What happened was they went to the room they were assigned and realized how awful it smelled. Musky, wet smell!! Also, it was directly outside of the smoking area and there were literally people sitting outside the windows. No wonder the other people wanted to switch rooms!!! The smoking area was constantly full of people.....talking loudly and they had a boom box playing until after 10:00 at night by someone smoking. So, we got the bad room!!
And if that wasn't bad enough, I received a text on Saturday from the desk clerk, who had called on Friday, that was a personal text to someone about a strawberry and cream food for his Aunt. Apparently wrong number but bothersome to me. He needs to be more careful who...
Staff was friendly and hotel is in a good location for our purposes, which was going on motorcycle day rides in the area. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Air conditioner did not seem to work quite right, failing to cool the room as well as expected. Seemed intentional, meaning the thermostat was likely “governed” to keep guests from cranking the air down and using more energy. We asked for and received a box fan, which helped. The bathroom had very little counter space which was annoying for a 5 night stay. The tub seemed cheap and creaked with every little move while showering. Took a while to get past the feeling you would fall through to the next floor! Bathroom door would not lock. Wall outlets seemed worn out, as they were very loose and plugs would easily fall out. Elevator did not work upon arrival, apparently due to an earlier power surge. Would have helped in taking luggage up. However, when it was working again, did not use it as the stairs were much faster. Breakfast was average only. The eggs were what I refer to as fake and would have at least been a little better had salsa been available. The waffles were the best thing on the menu. Two types of sausage that were not bad. Overall, the stay was pleasant enough and the hotel provided what we needed, which was a place to come back to each day for rest. Adequate, but...
