When I first got here, I was raving about my stay there: breakfast is included; the rooms were clean; the breakfast staff is very nice; the receptionist was accommodating. I stayed for three days. Prior to that, I'd stayed at The Willard Intercontinental Hotel in DC two days before and the Marriot in College Park, MD. Forget fancy & ritzy: I thought the Hampton Inn was the best because they had a decent breakfast included.
The housekeeping staff threw and left my sponge on the board under the sink the second day. I was very offended. I reported this to the front desk and they notified housekeeping. The next time I saw the housekeeper, she apologized, which was very sweet. She said she had meant to move it back to the bath but had forgotten. That was understandable.
Unfortunately, I woke up with insect bites every morning during my stay. I knew it had to be from the bed since these itchy bumps were new every morning and only in the morning. I shower twice a day and change my clothes twice a day. The second day, I checked for bedbugs and didn't see any. My last day there, I found the culprit -- an unknown insect that looked like a beetle. It was in my bed for three days! I freaked out! I was so scared. I actually thought it was a bedbug. I've had a very bad experience with bedbugs from another (supposed to be fancy) hotel before. I called the front desk and they sent some staff to inspect for bed bugs. They are the ones who told me it was probably a beetle. So far so good... Until out of no where, one of those three people had the audacity to suggest that I could have brought it into the room! When I told the hotel manager, she said she'd speak to her staff. When I asked how they would prevent it from happening to someone else, she said they have rooms sprayed every 3 months (obviously need to do it more) and would ask those who sprayed it to look into the room in two weeks when they came for their next round. She also said it was like my house -- insects can come in any kind of way -- through the windows, vents, etc. They handled customer service poorly and did not seem to care at all that I was scared that I could be carrying unknown insects/disease back to home from their hotel. I'm a physician: this is now epidemics start. They also did not seem to understand that this could happen to another client soon!
Until this fiasco, I was going to switch my hotel stay in the upcoming weeks to a Hampton Inn....
Read moreI wouldn’t recommend staying here if you’re attending an important event in the area. When I booked my room, I requested an early check in. I made a second early check in request a couple days before my stay. I arrived at the hotel around 2:40pm and checked in. The attendant working the front desk told me that my room will be ready in 30 minutes. Although I was disappointed, I said thank you to the attendant and waited for 30 minutes in the lobby.
After the 30 minutes around 3:15pm, I went to the front desk told ask if my room was ready. This time, a new attendant told me that my room would be ready in 30 minutes. I let her know that I have already been waiting for 30 minutes. The attendant did not apologize or try to make the situation better, she just said that they were busy today. If the hotel was so busy, wouldn’t they work hard to make sure all rooms are ready on time? I let the attendant know that I had to get ready for an event and that I requested an early check in. I asked the attendant if there was another room that I could use to get ready and she said ‘No’. She did not offer any solutions at all. I noticed while I was initially waiting for my room to get ready, people who arrived after me were able to check in to rooms that were ready for them. At this point, I was not given any other option than to get ready in the lobby bathroom.
I was forced to get ready in the bathroom for my event (a wedding) while guests were coming in and out to use the facilities. This was a deeply embarrassing experience for me and an uncomfortable experience for guests who needed to use the restroom. After I finished getting ready around 4:10pm, I went to the desk to ask for the third time if my room was ready. I was able to go up to my room and only had time to drop my bags off before I had to rush to leave for my event.
This was a completely unacceptable experience for a guest. If check in was at 3pm and I arrived at 2:40pm, why was I not able to go to my room until after 4pm? Why did you staff not apologize or try to find a solution instead of just saying they were ‘busy,’ forcing me to get ready for my event in the bathroom?
I emailed the manage about my experience on 6/2 and they have still...

One of the front desk staff on check out day was rude and ruined my experience of the hotel in its entirety. Stayed for a night - the room was nice! Checking in was nice too - the staff at front desk on Saturday 6/15 was amiable and super helpful.
After breakfast, a different staff, reportedly named Liz, asked me how much longer my family and group would be in the lounge. I was confused because I thought the lounge was open 24/7. I said about 20 mins (before check out time).
She said the workers needed to clean the tables. That they needed us to clear out because we were checked out. I told her that we were hoping to stay til 11 (check out time) since we weren't all checked out yet. She gave no other option and stood there waiting for me to tell my group we need to leave.
I came back the front desk and asked if there was another area we could meet. She just said No. To the credit of the other person at the desk (thank you!), they said we could go to the pool if we aren't checked out. And she explained that the workers need to go home after they clean the lounge.
But my general experience was that Liz was unprofessional, offered no alternative, and just wanted my group to get out of the hotel.
I felt particularly unwelcome by her, contrasted by the other staff that were plenty welcoming...
