What a great place to stay. Being in Manitou Springs it gives you that kitschy vibe with all the lights and decorations from the street, yet the benefit of having an updated hotel.
The pool and hot tub were great to use. The only thing I would change with it, is extending the hours. Considering you do get lots of families, I can understand the 10pm closing time somewhat, due to noise. Not sure what the answer would be, but as a few other HI’s in the Colorado Springs area offer 24 hour pool use, modified hours would be a plus.
We are platinum elite members and the staff went above and beyond on their customer service. I’m sure most had no clue about our membership status, so that they treat everyone so well is impressive. Everyone always smiled, said good morning and were so kind. It’s little things like that, which really make a stay more enjoyable and it was greatly appreciated.
I have to mention the exceptional service from the front desk clerk, Christian. He was so pleasant and helpful. The little things from always saying hello and his good advice regarding restaurant questions. There are people who offer good customer service and a few that supply amazing service - Christian is definitely in that amazing category.
The breakfast bar in the morning is okay, but nothing special. For the four days we were there it was always the fold over omelette style of eggs. Having scrambled eggs would have been a lot better. Too bad both aren’t offered. The juice selection was only OJ and apple, no cranberry or mango/passion fruit that I’ve had at other HI’s. A larger selection would help. Plus, for the area and since there are lots of families, having a waffle maker would also be beneficial, as the pancake machines just aren’t that good.
At least there are other food options nearby. If you have the time, there are two different breakfast/lunch diners within walking distance of the hotel. Along with a decent Chinese place just next door for lunch/dinner. Next trip I want to try Adams Mountain Cafe, their menu looks fantastic.
If you have a large group and need a bigger room, the suites are massive!! Two Queen beds in one half of the room and a King bed and couch in the other half, separated by the bathroom with two sinks. Though we didn’t have family with us, I would recommend the suites for anyone that need some extra space, yet still have your own areas for privacy and sleeping.
One negative that does need to be addressed, the Wi-Fi situation. I barely got any signal in the room and it kept disconnecting after login. This happened on several different devices, so it wasn’t just my phone or tablet causing the issue. It could disconnect within 5 minutes of authorization. The speed is also less than desired. I was getting about 10 mbps down and 5 mbps up. Most of the HI’s run 20 & 20 (which is still horribly slow). Having the platinum elite membership with IHG, and that it knows who we are when logging into the Wi-Fi service, they really should offer better speeds - even if only for customers with the higher membership. That Staybridge in the area offer 50 down and 20+ up, it’s something that can be done. Staying connected online is expected anymore from any hotel or even motel nowadays.
We will definitely stay here again, but would like that the Wi-Fi system to be updated...
Read more[Room] The room was well-organized, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. We had requested a "feather-free" room, and our request was graciously accommodated prior to our arrival.
[Parking and Check-in] The parking and check-in process was slightly challenging. The entrance is located at the lower-level parking area, and the signage could be improved for better clarity. Upon entering the first door, there is a phone in the entryway that connects guests with the front desk. The front desk staff will then unlock the door, allowing guests to proceed to the second floor via elevator or stairs. Once on the second floor, navigating to the front desk can be a bit confusing. Fortunately, the attentive front desk employee, Christian, noticed our arrival and promptly guided us to the front desk.
[Staff] Christian, the front desk employee, was exceptionally courteous and welcoming. He informed us of the time he would be leaving and the name of his replacement in case of any concerns. He recognized our IHG membership and kindly offered us complimentary bottles of water. Christian confirmed that we had a feather-free room, provided us with the Wi-Fi information, hours and location of the pool and fitness areas, and the time that breakfast is available. He even apologized that they had run out of gravy and would not have any the next morning at breakfast. We joked that we would have to leave since you can't have biscuits without gravy. Christian was very thorough, polite, and attentive throughout the entire interaction.
[Breakfast] There was a wonderful variety of items to choose from, including eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, various breads, hot cinnamon rolls, cereal, yogurt, pancakes, coffee, juice, and more. These are just the items I observed. My husband reported that everything was delicious. We were informed at check-in that they had unfortunately run out of gravy. They also ran out of orange juice; however, they did have apple juice and a light fruit juice option available. The pancake machine had run out just before we arrived, and I'm not sure when it was refilled. Nevertheless, the breakfast staff was continuously replenishing the food items..
[Suggestion] It is important to note that breakfast options may be limited for individuals with allergies, particularly those with severe lactose intolerance. While there was a variety of pastries, eggs, meats, milk, and yogurt available, unfortunately, there were no dairy-free alternatives such as milk, yogurt, or butter. Although this may not affect everyone, I believe it is worth mentioning for those who have allergies. If you have any dietary restrictions, it would be advisable to bring your own food items to ensure a satisfying and...
