DO NOT STAY HERE!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
This was the worst hotel experience of our lives!!! My wife and I were checked into room 107 at the Manitou Springs, CO location... there was no shower curtain, the bed smelled of cigarette smoke, and at 8:30 AM the following morning we had a housekeeper walk into our room. When my I went to the front desk to address the issues, the manager stated that they are allowed to come into our room at anytime unless there is a "do not disturb" on the door. (In all our years of traveling, and we travel a lot, we have NEVER had this happen or been told it's common practice) For the record, we did NOT have a do not disturb anywhere in our room! He also told us it (that procedure) was clearly stated in the handbook in the room, which we reviewed and were unable to find, so we took the handbook back up to the front desk asking him to show us were that was stated. At that time he told me that he was not going to speak to him. He then informed us that "that's the way life goes" and that they were unable to please everyone all the time. At that time I asked for his name which he refused to give to us. I also asked for the name of the person over top of him... he told us that that did not matter everything went through him and that he was done talking to me. He then turned around and walked off. When I returned to turn in our room keys the extremely polite front desk person called for the manager who refused to come to the front. I have since called and gotten a corporate number but was informed that this was a privately owned branch and that corporate would do nothing. I will repost with how corporate handles this issue... DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Don't give them your hard earned money. There are plenty of wonderful little spots to call home (that you won't regret) while visiting this stunning mountain town.
S/N: I have never gotten a response to my two calls and two emails from corporate. We will now be contacting legal counsel. Huu-General Manager is the most horrible person and business person I have ever come across! He only takes positive reviews so be sure to do your research before staying at this...
Read moreDefinitely 2 star for a reason. Staff was rude at check in, and had the gall to be snooty about their cheap old hotel, and obviously run by a family who know very little about actual hospitality. Why are they calling me to remind me to check out at 11? I stay at so many hotels and never had this experience. (Not unless I asked for a wake up call. Which was once in my life.) Why is this front desk person cleaning the lobby while I'm waiting for my taxi? Please leave me alone. Obnoxious. Same old woman who called me, with her raspy, lispy, unpleasant, snooty old voice. And...why is the pool indoor but not heated? It was freezing in the pool room and in the pool. The hot tub was barely hot enough to be called a hot tub. The shower in the room was thankfully much hotter. Yes, the room is clean but that is the bare minimum; if it weren't then it would be no better than the meth-tels all over Colorado Springs. I guess it had that going for it. Good job. They are cutting corners here for certain, though. Bedding wasn't soft, pillow was barely a pillow, broken handle on the dresser, tiny tub and shower, just a very plain room and not comfortable overall. Really cheap shampoo, conditioner and "shower gel" in the dispensers. Definitely bring your own toiletries. My children had the delight of listening to people having sex in the room next door, so thin walls, and they put the beds up against the same walls apparently, which is totally the opposite of what should be done. It's across from Adam's Mountain Café, thank goodness, because that restaurant is lovely as always. It's a bit far to walk to the main part of Manitou with all the shops, so prepare to drive and pay for parking or pay for a taxi. Unless your only goal is to buy weed at Emerald Fields, which is right next door. You can't smoke in the hotel though. And seeing how they acted, I'm certain they would kick you out. There's a smoker friendly hotel further...
Read moreThe manager of the hotel needs further training. After I checked out at the hotel, I realized I had put something in the second drawer that I forgot to check when I checked out. The manager was dismissive and said, "If there was, it was probably tossed out." I ask that he check with housekeeper while it's still fresh in her memory because she was at the parking lot ready to clean our room. He asked the item that I forgot, I told him it was in a plastic bag and could not remember the content inside. It's probably not so valuable, but I requested him to check with the housekeeper since we just checked out. He repeatedly asked me what is the item they should be looking for. I answered him that I could not remember the content, but it was in a plastic bag. After the series of going back and forth with him, he became combative and argumentative.
The other complaint I had was at breakfast reception area, both orange juice and apple juice smells clorox and taste funny. I reported it, and no one is doing anything about it in the entire week of my stay there.
I will never stay at Magnuson Hotel Manitou Springs again. I will never recommend this hotel for these reasons. There are hotels in the area that's better, clean, and have great service. This hotel is not paying attention to...
