I cannot recommend this restaurant. The food is incredibly disappointing. I’m from the suburbs of Chicago and have a favorite hibachi place up by us, and this restaurant comes nowhere close.

We went on a Sunday, called ahead to place a reservation and was told they only take reservations on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That’s completely fine as the place was fairly dead when we arrived. We spent roughly 50 minutes traveling to get there, and then were told it’d be a 20-30minute wait if we wanted Hibachi (where they cook in front of you). We opted for the regular dinner dine-in at a table. (We could see the back hibachi table area and there was almost no one there, meaning they just don’t have enough hibachi chefs on Sunday). The server was very nice and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Next up, my fiancée wanted a Plum Wine which is on their menu, but they were out. Then she asked if she could have a Moscow Mule, again, couldn’t make that for us.

I ordered a steak and scallops dinner and those two were fairly tasty but the rice was incredibly disappointing and had a mushroom flavor or something that I could not pinpoint. I couldn’t eat much of the rice because of that and the vegetables also were fairly cold even though our food came out...

So first time at this location. The first thing you notice is the mall parking lot is crumbling and there were no lines left to see parking spots. I've been in worse locations and have had some of the best sushi ever. Not the case here. The first thing to turn me off to this place was the utensils (fork and chop sticks) wrapped in a cloth napkin. The forks looked like they were pulled from the parking lot. I asked for clean ones and the waitress took them to the back. To my surprise another staff member came back out of the kitchen with utensils and cloth napkins. When she dropped them off to us I noticed right away they were the exact same ones we sent back. The fork had the same exact bend on the second prong. But now they looked wiped off and had fuzz on the end. After all this. Got my salad the dressing was watered down. Then comes the sushi. By far not the best sushi. But not the worse. There is suppose to be even amounts of portions in every piece. Some pieces had creme cheese some didn't. Some had a tiny bit of crab some just enough. Basically the rolling of the sushi rolls was sub par at best. I get better sushi rolls at Kroger then I got here without...

Food was pretty good but overall customer service was awful! We went at lunch but didn’t get lunch menus or prices. Also informed it would be at least 20 minutes before we’d be served. We then had to move seat after already starting to eat our soups and salads so others could sit next to us. The fire alarms then started to go off no one told us what was going on or if we should leave or anything. Then one of the workers came to our table and pretty well accused us/people next to us of pulling the fire alarm (which none of us did). They told me they couldn’t put two bills together because it was too hard then did after I asked to speak to manager. I then confronted manager about accusing us and the moving seats and she just deny it and didn’t bother to even apologize and just said they figured it out! All while next to us a couple of two got seat and served right after being seated. The whole experience was awful and on top of that they automatically take out a tip and didn’t even give me my correct change back! 1/5 honestly...

We went for the lunch service this week and got the chicken hibachi to go. When we got it home, we were part way through eating it, when I bit into a piece of bone about 1 and a half inches long. When I called, they asked that we bring it back in rather than just sending photos, so we did, and then when we got there, the manager had some teenager come out, take the chicken back to the kitchen (which is probably a food violation of some kind), and then come back out and tell us that they would remake our meal as if we wanted to risk the rest of our teeth on another plate of chicken bones. Only after I said something about the manager not dealing with the problem did she finally emerge to give us a random amount of cash back. She gave us $30 in cash when we paid a higher amount on our debit card, but I guess that's just how they roll when they do refunds because taxes and math aren't important or something? I've included pictures of the bone. Eat at your own risk.

First and only negative: is it expensive? Yes. Not NYC or Nash Vegas expensive, but still pricy. But wow, what quality. And the portions are generous. Best Miso soup outside of San Francisco or Japan. The 15-piece Sashimi Deluxe ($17, pictured) is excellent, without any of that crappy artificial surimi crab. People were waiting for the festive Hibachi seatings, which were naturally fully booked on this New Year's Eve. A great place, a chain, I think. I've also tried the Fujiyama in Indianapolis. Not sure if they are connected, but Marion is super.
