Hilton should be embarrassed by this property. Avoid this place if possible.
I’m a Hilton honors member but we reserved/ paid thru chase travel to use a credit. I had the opportunity to check-in digitally thru honors website but didn’t. However i saw there were about 20 rooms available.
Lobby is big and newly remodeled but that is about the only nice thing in the hotel.
Checked in the afternoon and out of the 20 rooms available- we were assigned room 106. We were not greeted or recognized as Hilton honors members.
The room is in serious need of maintenance/ updating: gross mold in shower - see pic, shower door is off track and requires much force to move, torn wall paper, can feel the springs coming thru the mattress, etc,.
Housekeeping in room is good overall but vents are dirty.
Exterior main entrance of hotel has random trash on ground and overflowing trash bin and cigarette ashtray.
Room 106 is next to the noisy elevator equipment room which can be heard in the room. See pix of the view out the room window.
Why would rent this room to anyone when other rooms were available - let alone to an honors member?
It was my mistake for not reading the amenities before I booked but there is no complimentary breakfast (restaurant opens at 7 am and buffet is $19/person).
The big surprise was that there is no complimentary coffee in lobby- instead they charge $4 for a small cup that comes out of a machine. Instead I drove over to a 7-11 and got a large cup with fresh cream for under $3
I think I would have gotten a much better room, free breakfast and free coffee at any number of less expensive Hilton and non Hilton properties within a 5 minute drive of this doubletree. I would have been better off at the super 8 next door for half the price.
At check out I asked the front end manager if 106 was comparable to all the other rooms in the hotel. She said yes- they were all renovated at the same time. I also asked why we were assigned 106 when it’s next to the elevator room and has construction equipment outside window. she didn’t know.
Anyways, this was a waste of money and big disappointment. Won’t stay here again and makes me re-think staying at any doubletree property and Hilton in general because inspection standards for ...
Read moreWe travel for a living and frequent this hotel. It's a Saturday 7/6 and it's extremely loud in here with kids running down the halls yelling, it sounds like a freight train and dogs are barking. We opted for the suite hoping for quiet as we need a good nights rest. We ordered pizza and asked for plates they said they were out. We asked for a late check out and were told no and we are Diamond Members. They gave us no water when we checked in although every Hilton does. We would highly suggest the Marriott Pittsburgh North, it's right down the road and a lot quieter. We usually choose there or here but after a couple of stays here (we were kept up by highway noise last stay), we are going to go to the Marriott from now on. Also adding on that the maid knocked on our door while we were still sleeping an hour & 15 minutes before we had to check out. It was noisy all night here & then we were purposely woken up by housekeeping. We are exhausted & have to drive all day. When I went to take a shower this morning I discovered what looks like fecal matter with blood & hair. If we discovered that last night we would have left immediately. I almost vomited! DON’T STAY HERE!!! FOLLOW UP- Manager was supposed to process 15000 points back to my account and never did, this stay was back on July 6, it's now October 2nd and no points have been added. Hilton opened 2 cases regarding the issue and the points reimbursement. The 1st time I was told by customer service that the manager said they processed it and the points would post within 30 days. Today when I called customer service for a 3rd time as I've heard nothing. They stated that the hotel was denying the points and would not be processing them, which means the manager flat out lied to not only me but Hilton. She should be fired. Customer service gave up on them and are now adding the points manually. Do yourself a favor and stay...
Read moreNice room. But 5th floor hallway carpet stained in spots, needs cleaned or replaced . Lobby was updated. Modern. Nice. Bar, basically part of lobby, nice. Restaurant is basically part of lobby too, small, nice. Dinner was good, not excellent. Dinner server was good, not excellent. Breakfast: would have been better off with room service. Eggs Benedict and duck hash only on room service menu. Ate breakfast in restaurant, slow service...took quite a while for server to take our order. Husband and I both ordered over easy eggs, but both our plates arrived with over medium eggs, barely any egg yolk. The buffet had same choice as our " two eggs anyway " choice from the menu, but we could have gotten our breakfasts much faster that route, rather than waiting for server to take our order. Pool and pool room were too cold and no towels were on site. Had to go to lobby in swim suits to ask for towels. Unable to find sauna, maintenance man advised there was one in men's restroom outside of pool room, husband checked, there was but it was not ready for use. Checked ladies room bathroom outside of pool room and found sauna there as well, also not ready to use. Women's sauna instructions read that the sauna needed to run 120 minutes before using if not already on, and it was not already on. Not ideal. So did not even attempt to use. Plus wanted to use sauna with my spouse which was not an option since separated in the men and women bathrooms. Room and restaurant were clean. Would go to hotel again, but preferably in summer season. Definitely avoiding pool in early November unless the temperature of pool room and pool were both increased. Would not go to restaurant for breakfast unless going to the buffet. Dinner: would probably do again skipping the house steak sauce on the fillet, it tasted like chili rather than steak sauce. But appetizer of brussel sprouts would order again because they...
