This was an awesome location to stay. There is so much to say that I hope I don't miss anything. I really loved the secluded beach front. The beach was small but bring close to the beach you could bounce from beach to pool and restaurant. They had stations to wash off at when moving from the beach to the pool. While we were at the beach we even saw manta rays. I also really enjoy the gym. It was a bit of a walk to get to the gym from our room (not including getting down from the 22nd floor😁). The gym was massive and had a variety of free weights, machine weights, Smith machine, and a bunch of benches to accommodate multiple people. I just wish they had a squat machine. The hotel has a couple restaurants so you don't have to worry about leaving the hotel if you don't want to. Or if you are up for a small walk you could head to the whalers village and there are more restaurants and places to shop. I highly encourage going for a walk and exploring. This place even has activities like creating lei's, exploring the different animals there, the different pools, small shops, etc. For the animals they had different birds that were brought out, and there was a small exhibit for penguins. As for the shops you could get a snack or breakfast and enjoy a book or the sunset/Sunrise. In regards to the rooms they were very clean, and the service was always prompt. Check out my video for the layout and style of the room. I liked the water bottles in the room. That helped with walks or going to the gym and staying hydrated. There is a lot of space around this location to sit and read a book, enjoy the view, and or the water. I also really liked the towel dispensers, they are EVERYWHERE😂. Which is great because you can use you room key, grab a towel, and enjoy. Great idea, just make sure you return the towel otherwise they charge you for not returning it. 😵💫 The other thing I liked was the room key. It was attached to a band that we kept on our wrists, check out my picture for that. Makes it super easy to keep track of. I do also want to give a shout out to the staff. We were there during the Tsunami of July 2025 (even though there actually wasn't one, there was an alert because of the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Russia). they were very help, kept people calm and were great at accommodating and making sure people were safe. Even though nothing happened, it was good to know they had a plan. They were also accommodating with our luggage. After we checked out, our flight did not leave until 8pm, so they held our luggage while we enjoyed the views and walks one last time. So lots of pros with this place. Some downsides are as follows; Swan Court for breakfast was extremely expensive, 40 dollars a person. We had one go at it and decided not to anymore. We were sorely disappointed. The food presentation was good, but the taste could use some work. I pretty much got a little bit of everything and nothing really stood out. If your going to spend that much might as well go out and eat. Which is what we good. Or we got breakfast good at the store down the street at Safeway. There you can find all the groceries you will need and they will last you longer. The other negative was the price of the room. You are already paying high prices, at least the breakfast should be mind blowing😀! If you are looking for activities to do such as snorkeling or boating etc, you will want to take a walk down the beach. You will find plenty of companies and other hotels that offer better prices. We went snorkeling for around 100 and the hotel was going to charge us around 500. So go for a walk, check out the beach and as you walk on the beach towards Whalers Village you will find companies for those activities for much better prices/deals. There the same companies you just pay more through the concierge at the front desk. We also payed I think 35 dollars a night for parking. Keep that in mind as well. If we are paying that much for a room breakfast and parking should be included. Four stars for those...
Read moreWe had an epic trip to Maui at the Hyatt Regency/Residence. I have a family of 7. Rooms: the rooms are beautiful. They are in excellent condition and well maintained. We had a two queen room connected to a king with hide-a-bed couch. The two queen room had two excellent beds and my big kids had no complaints. The king was fantastic (I often struggle sleeping in new beds and it was great right from the start). The hide-a-bed was pretty mediocre. I would not have wanted to put anyone over 10 or so on it. It was floppy and the support bars could be felt through the bed. The room has a nice little fridge we used to store some snacks and breakfast food (no freezer). It would have been great if they had included a small microwave to warm up some of our leftovers. Our were hotel rooms and did not include a kitchenette. For timeshare people this was a big change and makes food much more expensive. Service: every interaction we had with the staff was excellent. They were just generous and attentive at every front. We attended the Hyatt Luau and the service there was excellent as well. We didn't eat in any of the Hyatt restaurants so don't have perspective on that side of the service. Location: This Hyatt location is fantastically positioned. I think Hyatt may have the nicest overall pool configuration of the resorts we saw (I walked through 4 or 5 neighboring properties one evening). There are 3 distinct pools one especially designed for kids with a toddler area and slide and a larger slide for bigger kids. There is a large more traditional pool. The third pool is on the back side of the Hyatt Residence building and has numerous shallow pools connected by waterfalls and a slide. It is a really neat configuration. There are plentiful chairs and shelters to provide a place to relax and get out of the sun when you need to. Overall the location maintenance was probably the weakest element of the property. There were fraying covers on a cable bridge, cracking and peeling on fixture floats in the toddler area. None of these things seemed big or costly to repair, I was surprised they were not better maintained. While pools are open long hours the slides are only open from 10a-5p. Given our adventurous approach to vacation, this meant our kids often missed the part of the pool they were most interested in. It is also notable that the property is quite dark after sunset so the pool areas don't feel accessible even though they are open. I assume the lack of lighting is ordinance driven to reduce light pollution (the stars are amazing even in populated areas). That said, it would have been nice to have a little more pool lighting. The beach at Hyatt was the weakest of the Kanapalli resorts. The sandy part of the beach was very short and was in process trying to be protected from washing away with an ugly canvas type cover on the hill between pool area and beach. The waves often washed right up to the protected area leaving little or no sand to lie on or leave towels, etc. Everything will eventually get wet. Other resorts had much deeper sandy areas and much nicer beaches. There is a reef in front of the hotel, but it appears to be pretty well destroyed by years of tourist abuse. If you plan to snorkel I would recommend other places. In any case, don't walk on the reef, Maui is working hard to protect and restore the reefs, do your bit. Last I need to mention, the Hyatt is very expensive, everything is expensive. Non-valet parking is difficult to use and hard to access. Valet parking is expensive and should be tipped. The restaurants will be greater than 25 per person for both breakfast and lunch, dinner will be more. For a family of 7 it was generally too expensive for our budget. We did order some pizza and burgers, both were excellent, even exceptional. Overall the Hyatt was an exceptional experience, so appreciated the staff and...
Read moreHyatt has two places you can stay in Kaanapali, HI. One is the Hyatt Hotel and the other, right next door, is the Vacation Club which is a timeshare resort. Both places can share in the amenities of either location.||The Vacation Club is a full five stars for our visit; this is our third visit and all have been outstanding. We were offered a deal by Hyatt we could not pass up to visit in 2018 which was our first time visiting. After the requisite timeshare sales pitch we were offered another trip and accepted. We were supposed to travel in 2020 and that was pushed to 2021 because of Covid. After that timeshare presentation we were again offered a return trip and we accepted. We were booked to return in 2023, but then the Lahaina fire happened a week before our trip so our final trip was pushed out to 2024.||When you arrive in a car the attendants are prompt and efficient. There is no self-park but there is complimentary valet parking. Bell service immediately comes up and collects your bags and any groceries you’ve brought along. Bell will hold your bags if your room is not ready, but our room was ready at about 1:00 when we arrived even though check in had not been promised until 4:00. ||The hotel faces the ocean, which it to say all the two and three bedroom rooms face the ocean. They also have large lanais (decks). The grounds are expansive and beautiful. The pools are stunning. It is truly a resort. And it is a no-smoking resort which they take quite seriously. On two trips there were guests smoking on their lanai which we smelled on ours. We phoned guest services and they dealt with it straight away.||Alas, we were not offered another opportunity for a great deal to go back, but I’ve already looked up rentals at the resort and I’m fairly certain we’ll be back in a couple of years. ||There was one down side for us: The resort is all about owning a timeshare and they work to make the owner experience fabulous. That’s actually great. Owners had exclusive towel service, and they placed owner’s towels on many of the premium loungers around the pool. We respected those saved spaces. However a large group from the neighboring Hyatt hotel rolled in daily and did as they pleased, even pulling up owner’s towels, tossing them aside, and using the premium seating. Hotel security should be empowered to limit actions of visitors in this case. ||There were many highlights. The neighboring Hyatt hotel offered a mermaid class and we enrolled our seven and five year old granddaughters. The class was the absolute highlight of the trip for them! The second big deal was the beach bar. We met Tom the bartender during our first trip and he remembered us each time. He was a blast! All of the personnel on site were nice all the time making a fabulous environment. Snorkeling is available right off the hotel, and the walk down the beach to a shopping and dining center is quite nice. While there is no on-site restaurant, it is a short walk or drive to find all kinds of great food. ||I highly recommend a stay at the Hyatt...
