We stayed four nights at the Whaler Resort. Everyone from the front desk, the concierge, the pool and beach folks... are all terrific! We had a studio -king ocean view on tower 2. Lovely in the morning sun -- with coffee and breakfast out on the lanai. We didn't use the pool but it looked inviting. We spent most of our on site time at the beach. |The room was spacious and clean. The kitvhen was well appointed and the bathroom was beautiful with a small side closet large enough for the both of us. The bed was fine for us but that's a personal subjective view. Some like beds firm - other soft. It was clean and the linens were fresh. We liked it. |We explored around Maui but there is plenty of food and activities close by if you just want to settle in for your complete stay. We ate at several of the close by resturants and loved them all (get the hulu pie!). We also took in a luau up the coast line at the Hyatt. [Note: we walked, approx 25min] but you can drive and park. |Only one small complaint. Only the small beach chairs are included in the resort fee. We had to pay for the chaise loungers and umbrella: $100. And the day ends for them at 4pm. Ummmm, we traveled some and that felt too much (money) and too little (time) compared to most other locations [read Mexico & isxlands in the Caribbean]. All and all, lovely stay. If we make it back to Maui, The Whaler Resort if definitely where we'll be...
Read moreWe really liked the location, tons of different restaurants nearby, beach, the long walkway along the coast, chance to look at other hotels and their animals/plants, cleanliness of the apartment. There was almost everything in the room that we needed. We probably were lucky to get a not outdated apartment (315). The staff is very friendly, though not very helpful because it’s not a hotel, so they don’t provide cleaning and everything room-related. If you plan to charge something with usb like I did, you’ll be disappointed. There are only regular outlets for charging. We also didn’t have soap in the bathroom and decided that it’s easier to buy one bar by ourselves.
In addition, we were annoyed by the noise from the remodeling. The building is scheduled to be renovated this fall, but for our room the noise from it was minor. We also had issues with another remodel right above our room. It was very noisy from hammering and drilling (thankfully only for one day).
As for snorkeling, we were not lucky or brave enough to go far away from the shore, so we didn’t saw a lot of wildlife near the Black rock. In terms of snorkeling, I loved Kapalua bay more. Kaanapali beach is perfect for recreational swimming...
Read moreEnjoyed our stay! It is a time share property with NO sales pitch 🙂 when we booked, the reservation said "Aston at the Whaler resort" Really, the only difference is if there's something wrong with the room, you contact Aston, if there's something wrong with the property, contact the whaler. Rooms are awesome: full kitchen, walk in closet, great patio area! Grounds are well taken care of, plenty parking... HINT; underground parking is close to the elevators. When leaving check in, make a right and the garage entrance is right there. Pool is open til 10pm, there's water and tea, free of charge and the area is well kept. 1st come 1st serve chairs, no reservations or charge for those. Beach access is easy with sidewalks that lead to food and shops. Beach/pool hale has rentals and the ENTIRE staff are so welcoming. Take advantage of the free concierge services; they're more knowledgeable about the island than a phone service that's out of country or an outdated web site. I wish I knew this beforehand, Elise did an amazing job 🥰 Truely...
